  1. After watching more of a few guys over the past couple days, I can definitely get behind Jarvis being this high. His combination of skating, puck control, and aggressive mentality really lets him attack defenses. He doesn’t skate around the perimeter, he challenges the defense. And he is a gamer. He isnt taking plays off, cheating, or just floating around. He plays with an intensity.
  2. Risto/Montour + Mitts + 2nd for Boeser and Gaudette???
  3. Yeah, I get. He does have some value. It all depends on the deal. I wouldn’t dump him for a 3rd rounder or anything, but I may actively try to insert him into any trade talks regarding a 2C, for example.
  4. I couldn’t agree more! Seriously though, I agree with everything you said. Overall, I personally am not optimistic. If I was Buffalo, I would seriously consider trading him.
  5. I disagree. It’s possible that Mittelstadt ends up being a useful player, but the situation is not as simple as give him some talent, let him work, he is fine. Mittelstadt has been a bad NHL player, like....very bad, and it’s not that his line mates are dragging him down. He is dragging them down! He needs to make real improvements to get to a place where he is a good NHL player.
  6. Before COVID-19/stagnant cap, I figured some team would probably give Lars around $3M for 2-4 years. It’ll likely be less now. How much less, I’m not sure. It’s possible that the lower end UFAs, like Lars, get hit harder as teams try to save money for the higher end players, so you could be right. Its also been rumored that Lars is not very interested in returning, so it may be some other team that he takes less money from anyway. A lot of things up in the air right now.
  7. It doesn’t look like a wolf. I always thought it was a cat, mountain lion.
  8. I would basically agree, but I’m interested in what info Eleven has to defend his position.
  9. To be fair to Eleven, he did not say that the North American Native peoples were fairly treated. The disagreement between you two seems to be the extent to which Native Peoples were able to retain their culture. This seems to be something about which a logical discussion could take place. You two, make your points regarding the issue at hand. It could actually lead to a healthy discussion.
  10. I would guess that the number who were killed far outpaced the number who went to reservations. I the grand scheme of things, you are probably right though, that it was less brutal than most conquerings over the past couple thousand years.
  11. Yeah, it’s all solidly in wait and see territory right now. Im just saying, they fired the Director of Amateur Scouting (Jankowski), Assistant Director of Amateur Scouting (Crisp), and 10 amateur scouts. I think it’s reasonable to assume this probably will lead to a change in draft philosophy, especially when the old philosophy was uniquely strange.
  12. I would. It’s highly unlikely that someone else would employ such a strong aversion to CHL prospects. If Adams liked the drafting, he may not have replaced the director of scouting.
  13. I think you should use all information available in all situations. I was just saying that, for the most part, higher draft picks are so heavily scouted that there is a lot more known about them and they tend to have more uniquely good skills. In the later rounds you are trying to pick between a bunch of players without as much surface level stuff separating them. In that situation, I would say lean on the analytics even more.
  14. This doesn’t even make sense.
  15. You try to hire the person who you think is a good fit. You pass on anyone who you don’t think is a good fit. It’s not that complicated.
  16. Ok........Dudley seems good and all, but did I miss the moment when he became some type of iconic FO executive who has created great teams??? Dudley seemed like a good candidate, but there are a lot of reasons why it may not have been a fit. He isn’t the only guy in the NHL.
  17. This is a bit disappointing. I definitely want them to bring in someone with a good amount of high level FO experience. Maybe Dudley just wasn’t a good fit for whatever reason though.
  18. I saw that article. I honestly think that in the later rounds of the draft (4-7), teams should put a lot of weight into advanced stats, such as NHLe. I wish I could see something like this for entire drafts. We know the Sabres have drafted pretty poorly, but how does this NHLe drafting stack up vs the entire leagues drafting, especially after the 1st round.
  19. I don’t think it would cost that much, and there is no way you know that is the TRUTH. TB will figure it out like they did last offseason when they had to trade JT Miller for a semi protected 1st and a 3rd.
  20. Well, I’m talking about cap situation, not talent. Buffalo is in a better cap situation this offseason, but obviously is in worse overall situation as a team/organization. For TB, having too many good players to afford is a good problem to have, but it’s still a problem. One which other teams will try to exploit.
  21. If you wanted to do that, I think looking at ES scoring only would be more appropriate and informative.
  22. Lots of people seem to think that TB will somehow get out of their current cap difficulty without too much pain, as they have always done in the past. I want to remind everyone what they actually did to get out of trouble last offseason. They traded away a 26 year old forward on a reasonable long term contract who went on to put up 72 pts in 69 games on his new team, in exchange for a mid 1st round pick. That was them successfully getting out of trouble without too much pain. This offseason, their situation is even worse.
  23. I take issue with some of these. From my point of view: Simmonds is not even an average 3rd line player anymore. I think he is shot. Especially based of his production. On pace for just 19 ES points per 82 games, and decreasing for the fourth consecutive season. Olofsson was on pace for something like 38 ES points over a full season, while playing beside Eichel. That’s not great. I honestly think he is a 3rd line quality player at ES. Great on the PP though, of course, and he could get even better at ES. Kahun was actually a more productive ES player than Olofsson. He was on pace for 42 ES points per 82 games, while not consistently playing with guys the quality of Eichel/Reinhart. I’m actually kind of bullish on the possibility that Kahun can be a legit top-6 winger.
  24. I think that sounds like a bargain for Buffalo.
  25. Point and Stamkos play C ahead of him. Cirelli is their 3C. That’s why, with their backs against the wall, they might consider it a painful, but manageable, necessity. Thats the hope at least. Bottom line is, they need at least one (or 2) of their NTC guys to willingly waive that NTC, or they will not have enough money to resign one (or 2) of Cirelli, Sergachev, and Cernak. This is a math fact.
