As long as ESPN + is still good to go i am happy! MSG and xfinity still fighting after 2 years of no Devils, Rangers and Isles games. Which means, i cannot watch the home opener against the Rags! Greedy damn companies!!! I am already paying 270 a month for cable and internet!!! WTH!!

Wow! That's over $100 a month more than I'm paying for internet and cable. I get Spectrum cable and internet for $160/monthly.

It's just a strange thing to me. You're not alone by any means, and there's nothing wrong with classical music (I will go see a good symphony myself) but it is an interesting phenomena to me how many people shift their preferences as they age. Age appropriate and all that.

Anyway, what is it 21 days now?

    Go Sabres.

"Can" yes....but actually will is doubtful IMHO.  GMKA seems content with a "next man up" response vs. some outside options.  If goal scoring production drops and goals against does not improve, then he should be held accountable.

Don't think it's doubtful really and furthermore we don't know how long until Quinn returns. Seems you have a much lower opinion of KA than do.

They should be a good NHL team this season.

The risks being taken with goaltending and the injury to Quinn are the only things dragging on my optimism.

I think they can compensate for the Quinn injury. Goaltending for me is the big factor. Assuming Levi is who we hope for we should be a playoff team but that's also assuming our offense produces around same amount. We could take a little less scoring if our defense is better which I expect it will be.

I agree with you that there's lots of different good things out there but had to laugh at your chosen continuum. Beatles on one end and metal on the other as the poles or extremes.

Lots of people do this but I always find it odd. Why would you shift your music based on your age? I still like what I grew up with and like new things too. The range is wide (farther than the Beatles and metal :)). Pretty sure if I make it to 90 I will still be cranking up Purple Haze or Iggy and the Stooges or the Ramones (etc etc). Probably louder than before as I go deaf 🙂

Wouldn't say I switched really. I just seem to listen to classical now.

I don't disagree with you in the fact that I WANT him locked up long term. That is the best case scenario in my mind.

However, you said he shouldn't be capable of getting top money long term, but if he thinks he should then that is why there is no extension yet.

If you don't want to listen to anything less than 6 years (from the Sabres point of view) that may be another reason why there is no extension yet.

You can't put the pen in his hand and force him to sign what you want him too.  I'm not disagreeing with anything points you make, other than if Dahlin and his agent don't think the same way, THAT is why we are closing in on camp stat with no extension for him (yet).  One side is going to have to give in a little bit, lets see which side that is.

My guess is it will be the team. Maybe five or six years.

  7. Frankly if we didn't have a local hockey team I'd watch very little hockey. I only watch and follow the Sabres. Football I'm more of a fan of the sport. If the Bills left my Sundays would still have me watching football. So losing the Sabres would leave a bigger hole for me.

  8. I use Roku just to save the box charges from Spectrum for our four tv's. My cable plus internet is presently at $151/monthly. Expect that to go up about $40/month soon. When I consider the cost of internet plus streaming apps to get all we desire to watch I don't think I would save by cancelling the cable. Maybe I'm not up on this streaming. I'm a Mets fan (frustrating), Sabres fan. To get those games it's hard to find package that meets my needs for less than I pay now.

For those who don't think UPL is any good:  He led the Sabres in wins last year, a mark that set the Sabres rookie goalie record.  It's a bygone conclusion that Levi will break that record this season, but we'll see.  I don't think UPL is as awful as some people say.  If the Sabres had won as often with the rest of the goalie corps as they did with UPL they would have made the playoffs.

I think he's exactly what Kevyn hoped he was getting in Comrie.

Agree. I do have doubts UPL will ever be a #1 but he's not as bad as some seem to think.

Do you honestly not get tired of being bitch to 31 other teams?

PA, I certainly understand your and the rest of the fans frustration with the franchises long drought. I share that frustration. As far as this being your country and the right to say our government sucks? Again I agree with you. As a veteran who served during Vietnam I can say I would not serve again under our current government....... it sucks. My issue is that your feelings seem to be personal against the Pegulas not merely questioning their decisions. Frankly I think our team is now headed in the right direction but only time will tell. My comments are not personal toward you only my take on your past posts.

Adam’s has won far less than Beane at this time. Beane has turned Buffalo into a place players will go to.  Adam’s is still working on that.

It’s hard to compared GMs from different sports.

His record defies your comments. The Bills are a very strong team that has yet to win it all.  Like lots of other teams.

Sabres are on track, maybe.  Let’s see them make the playoffs and win something.    Has Adams done enough?

Agree it is hard to compare the two sports. I'm very interested to see the Bills this coming season as I have been one that's questioned their vulnerability in particular in their defense in spite of statistics. Seems they get exploited at critical times. Offensively they need better play on OL and overall game plan. They are a very good team but Allen is the one great pick by Beane in my opinion. On the Sabres side I only say that in my opinion drafting is much more challenging. I think Kevin Adams and company have equaled if not exceeded Beane and company in recent drafts considering, again, in my opinion drafting is tougher in hockey.

Do you think it is a potential downside if Kevyn consistently signs players to "team friendly" contracts?  On the one hand, he's better able to keep the team together, but on the other, at some point these players (and the NHLPA) will start to say he's undervaluing assets and get NHLPA action against him or just kind of start feel like they're Kevyn's patsies and become discontented.

    Thoughts?

My thoughts are anywhere other than professional sports a contract is a contract. Of all areas of undervalued sports is a ways down my list. School teachers, first responders ect. are more undervalued. Of course athletes aren't paid by our taxes........oh wait,  they are but more indirectly.

EXACTLY.  Kevyn is not going to pay an arm and a leg for a one year rental, and he doesn't want to give Helle a max term extension.

So many people think that this is fantasy sports where you can just arbitrarily put a team together with whatever players you want.  Real life doesn't work that way.

Couldn't agree more about the fantasy sports mentality of many sports fans. They never seem to consider it takes two minimum to make a grade, then there's the multitude of NM/NT clauses and that's to say nothing about cap space now and down the road. So easy being a arm chair GM.

Be careful folks. Someone will say you are being disrespectful to Levi if you think KA should upgrade Comrie and UPL.

It’s entirely possible that Levi starts 40+ and the other 3 guys play 35 or so and the Sabres get NHL average from them and we squeak into the playoffs. Is that really the goal?  Our offense last year put up 293 goals.  We just upgraded the D and PK.  We still have plenty of cap room why settle for bad backup goaltending and put the weight of the franchise on a rookie with 7 games of pro experience?

Here are the backups in case things go wrong.

    Eric Comrie - NHL experience - 47 games over 7 years - Career Gaa - 3.32 with a .897 save %. Quality save % .465

    UPL - NHL experience - 46 games over 3 years - Career GAA - 3.47 with a .897 save %.  Quality save % .422

    Tokarski - NHL experience - 80 games over 9 years - Career GAA - 3.15 with a .902 save %. Quality save % . 463

By comparison here is what Tristan Jarry looks like - 206 gp - 2.65 GAA, .914 save% and .606 Quality save %.

Who would you rather share the net with Levi, guys like our 3 backups or someone like Jarry?

The question is would you favor a Jarry contract for what we envision as a backup or at best a 1B goaltender? Just asking.

There is golf or other exercise, there is playing a musical instrument, drawing/painting, gardening/ landscaping, woodworking, volunteering …. you can do these things and many more and your wife might be happy that your not surfing the net or watching senseless TV.   Your meatless meatloaf could become a nice juicy rib eye.

    Or silence, just sweet silence.
