Almost ready to go back to cable. I'll eat cat food to make ends meet.

MSG Plus has decided I'm in Suffolk Co., NY, based on the ASN number in my IP address. So last night I was shown college soccer. Rangers the game before that.

"Jam" claims he/she/it is the only tech support person and is indeed human. "I am human, Mark." Def. not creepy.

Jam says 11776, the ASN number, is a zip code. It is indeed the zip code for a town in Suffolk Co. It seems to be associated with my cable company.

Can anyone shed light on this?

I got the first game just fine. So I am calling BS.

I've kept cable and I'm glad I did. One, reading posts on here and two it doesn't seem I spend more with cable without sacrificing channels important to me.

Peca is one of my all-time faves and I’d be happier if he was in the organization.

That said, I suspect some of the same people who criticized 30-year pro coach Granato as inexperienced would be happy with handing Peca the reins after what, 3 years?

I find it kinda disingenuous to characterize the situation as “the Sabres refused to promote him”. He has 2 years pro experience as a bench coach, both in the AHL, both with the Buffalo organization.

The thing people seem to be overlooking in the Peca case is that there wasn’t a job available on the Sabres coaching staff. They literally have 5 assistants. They actually did offer him a job with Buffalo, but not behind the bench. Sure, you have no problem firing someone (Matt Ellis is the likely suspect) in order to keep him, but they apparently like what they have.

He got an offer he liked better and took it.

Seems to me I remember another former player whose name begins with H that fans clamored for. How'd that work out. I love Peca don't get me wrong and I wouldn't be surprised at all if someday he's a head coach but his resume is still being developed.

With mostly young players I expect peaks and valleys thru most of this season. Right now is a valley, or a crater, or a pit or whatever cute descriptive word one wants to use. I’m not sweating the record in October.

Not sweating but points won and lost in October are just as important as points won or lost at season end. If we are out of playoffs by last years margin what difference does it make when you lost those few points. Still think we have the talent to get this going but our coaches need to get them thinking right.

I finally got some customer service and apparently not from a bot. MSG says my payment from Google Pay "failed" despite their message indicating I had an active subscription (not to mention the money taken out of my bank account).

The workaround was to ask for a refund from Google (already got it) and purchase a new subscription not through Google and also on the MSG Plus website and not the app.

After all that, I had access.

Some stops and starts. Probably need a faster connection. My main problem is thinking too much about the delay. And also not being able to post on SS because of the delay or read texts from a couple of friends who feel the need to suddenly talk Sabres hockey.

I bought a new TV for all this. It's honestly too big and I didn't splurge so the back and forth of the game is making me semi nauseated. (I found no other way to get the game on the TV other than casting it from the app on my phone.)

I might just watch on the phone.

I sure do miss the days of rabbit ears.

Well glad you're up and running. After reading many posts about streaming apps I've come to the conclusion to stick with Spectrum cable. My cable cost and internet combined is $151/monthly and to get the sports I want seems to suit me best. I have Roku so the amount I saved on cable box fees has already saved the cost of the Roku units and now about $40/monthly toward internet cost. Works for me. Go Sabres and Go Mets!!

I mean I wouldn't doubt the 8. But let's not get carried away with the 8.

Seriously I appreciated the effort and hustle. The skill goes without saying.

Are we back to the 85% notion tho? He's obv supercharged to prove himself. Can he look like this in March?

    He's 18, I know.

Agree. Let's see if this energy bunny is still there over the long haul but I'm loving what I've seen.

  6. All the negativity is based in ,my opinion, on this franchise prior to last season. If I look at the franchise since KA took over I see much less basis for the level of negativity I'm hearing. The fact is it's disappointing with a start of 0-2. We're 0-2 against two good teams though and it still is two games guys. I've been here since the Knox brothers were awarded the franchise but I'm not going to make a judgement on this current team  based on what happened before this current team existed.

I didn't get to watch. Despite paying MSG my 30 bucks (and I have the receipts as the kids say), they have no record of me as a subscriber. It appears that paying through Google wallet or whatever it's called is an issue. So here I am. It was also a minor miracle to reach anyone at MSG, so resolving the issue is going to be a challenge.

I'm hearing that the broadcast crew used the kid card right off the gitgo. That's a directive from higher ups, so it's concerning to me. That some posters are already eating it up is funny. Did they not factor youth into their 100+ point predictions?

Sorry you're having such a problem getting to watch games. I won't play the "kid card" but it is a factor. The larger factor I suspect is our overall defensive system or our ability to install one.

How do we know that we are not the Oilers East and it’s just the wrong combination of incredible talent. I think we will see some trades of forwards / prospects for defense and goalie sooner than later.

We don't know. This is the youngest team in the league so we're in the process of finding out. By all accounts that I've heard they're a close knit group and that's a good thing but not necessarily the same as a good fit of talent on the ice.

    I’m disappointed by the effort.

The Rangers got a few early breaks and capitalized on them. They played like a wet blanket for the second half of the game, blocking shots like it was game 7 of the conference final. They got a lead and then defended it, pure and simple.

They were prepared and it showed.

Positives: Greenway, Krebs, Benson, Clifton, Peterka

    Negatives: Power, Okposo, Thompson, Granato.

    Not really.

It started with news of more departures from Pegula's operations.

This quickly morphed into a discussion of whether Terry is at fault for the seeming instability in said operations or not.

From there we've been separating the people who understand the business world from the people who think they understand the business world.

We also have one who thinks none of us understand business and should talk strictly about hockey - in a thread about the operations of a hockey team.

Seeing it appears your last remark may be aimed at my post. I didn't imply no one on here knows anything about business. Only that not everyone you hire turns out a successful hire and what took place in this case probably couldn't have been known or predicted. Punch in his quote of my post was right on. The instability of the front office comes under the responsibility of ownership.

  10. My take is it's a disappointing opening night performance but it was opening night. I'm worried about our defense more than Levi himself. My concern for him is can he hold up over a long season. Our defense better improve or by Thanksgiving we're in trouble and coaching changes may take place but filled internally until off season. Still very hopeful though we have the talent to be a playoff team.
