At least he didn't cost us a first and a second rounder...It is moves like these (Montour trade) that inhibits the Sabres from building a solid team. I'd rather have Chisholm than Bogo for 5.3m per year to be honest. 5.3m per year for over 4 seasons for 67 points... think about that for a minute... Myers had almost twice the points. Kane 118 points Staf 70 points Armia 58 points Roslo 68 points https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/jets-still-benefitting-evander-kane-deal-nhl-trade-trees/

Helle is Vezina caliber right now. Odds on favorite to win it this season and runner up 2 seasons ago. He is signed for 4 more seasons at about 6.2m per year. You don't trade Helle when Brossoit is the best goalie in the system after him.
-
You might be forgetting Declan Chisholm (3rd highest scoring D man in OHL this season). How do you win a trade when you acquire Citizen Kane and Bogo?
-
Who anointed them what you said? You or fans or who? We got to the playoffs twice and once was the Western Conference Final what did Kane get you guys? a second pairing defenseman that doesn't know how to play defense
-
Because nobody played for the Jets after that series? If you don't want to admit to being fleeced I understand. I'm not going to put up the points that all the players scored or argue with you over who won the trade but to me it is obvious.
-
so what they did while they were playing after the trade for the team's doesn't matter?
-
That is already happening...

#8 and Joki for RNH is absurd especially since you don't know what he wants for his next deal. His numbers are high the last couple of years because his center is the best player on the planet. There may be an argument for the Sabres acquiring Monahan (best season 82 points and routinely puts up more assists than goals) but it shouldn't involve the #8. I'd give up a lot for Monahan to come to the Jets but not as much if I were the Sabres. edit ... Helle is going to win the Vezina! MVP of the team this year...not even close.

How much do you think Reinhart should get?

I think it is the GM that tanks the team....not the players or HC. It wasn't wrong to trade Kane, it was wrong to trade for him. Moving Kane was a good move. Good old time player but not worth the trouble. Plan to be a good team in 2-3 years and stay a good team. Trading away young players and high draft picks is not the way to go unless you are a contender. Cozens and high draft picks along with Jack and Dahlin should be pretty much untouchable. Hextall in Philly did a great job of stocking the cupboards and they are reaping the benefits now. They have a good, young back end and some very good young forwards to go along with some really good vets. Also, it looks like they have their goalie for the forseeable future...arguably the most important part of the team. They drafted well, didn't give up too many bad contracts and have more or less been developing their prospects properly.

I can't imagine. I was self isolated when it first started but am back at work now and Manitoba hasn't had a case reported since June. My better half was getting tired of me by the time she went back to work and the only break she got from me was when she went to work. I am still diligent and wear a mask in public but things are starting to return to normal. I can't say enough about how our province handled this situation. I don't really care for the premier of the province but he did a pretty good job dealing with it. I also know what it is like backing a losing team as our Winnipeg Blue Bombers didn't win a cup in an 8/9 team league since 1990! They won in 2019 after they finally assembled a competent front office and GM/coaches and stuck with them and kept things relatively stable. It doesn't even look like the league will play this year. They are talking about Winnipeg as a hub city and I don't want that. Forget about this year and move on to the 2021 season. The Canadian government should help the teams (especially community owned teams) financially. It is only my opinion but I think the Sabres organization hasn't been thinking long term for a while now and that has to change. Dealing Cozens is about as foolish as they come. Most articles I read have him in the top 5 of the best prospects not in the NHL and at least one had him ranked #1. Eichel-Cozens as a one two punch would be deadly. The team has to go through another 2 seasons of not doing very well while stockpiling players and developing them and then they are on their way. This is kinda what Chevy did when he got empty cupboards from Atlanta with some good players to build around. It takes patience and I haven't seen much of it from the organization. GMTM was horrible. My opinion.

You do it however you have to. The Leafs got rid of some bad contracts when Shanahan took over...
-
I'm not trying to insult anybody. If you look at some of the contracts that have been dealt over the last couple of years, it isn't impossible to move him. Sorry if you think my iintentions were to insult, they weren't.

Do you consider KC comparable to Reinhart? KC had that in his 2nd year in the league...Reinhart his 4th. I don't disagree with the Sabres needing him, I disagree with 7m per year. 5 names capfriendly compares KC's contract with are ... Keller, Pastrnak, Nylaner, Gaudreau and Forsberg. Do you consider Reinhart comparable to these players?

Should be getting rid of deals like KO and possibly Skinner and looking at the team in the long run, not the short term. Why trade Reinhart? One of the best players on the team. Trading either of Dahlin or Eichel is nonsense unless going into a full re-build. Pick the best player available at the drafts and develop. You trade picks away when contending. Boeser is a great player but giving up a future 2C or even 1C in Cozens is not thinking long term (if you want to trade Mitts or Cozens, phone the Jets!). I'd try talking Van into a Boeser/Skinner deal if they are dealing him. The Sabres are rich in D. Trade a D like Risto or Miller, for example, for good prospects/picks. A long term plan has to be developed and followed in my opinion. Trading away draft picks and core players is just going to get another GM/HC fired. A few good picks, add a good goalie and the Sabres will be making the playoffs consistently in 2-3 years. Dahlin, Reinhart and Eichel are the start to a dam good core.
-
I don't blame him one bit. He has his kids to think about. He either signs with the Jets or retires after this season...probably retires.
-
Say what you want, he isn't worth 7m a year.
-
7m is overpay for him iin my opinion...we disagree. You have seen him play more than I have. I meean Kyle Connor is making 7.15m and he had 73 points and 38 goalls. No way Reinhart is inn the 7m category even if he signs an eight year deal. He's a rreally important part of the team but I wouldn't overpay him a dime. H's an RFA, who has the leverage?
-
Ehlers (I'm not as high on him as some but he is a good 2nd line winger) is on a sweet deal but the Sabres have to be careful with their contracts. KO and Skinner are eating up a fair chunk of a cap that will be reportedly stagnant for the next two years. They can't be making long term deals for big cash right now. I would give him 6m x 5 years. Larkin makes 6.1 on a sweet deal. Horvat is 5.5m. Oshie makes 5.75.....I'd pay him no more than 6m.
-
I have heard that trades can no longer rely on whether a player re-signs or not. For example...A deal cannot say if this player re-signs with you, we get x.
-
Reinhart doesn't deserve 7m....barely over 6m if you ask me.

Devils naming Ruff as head coach!!!

Sabres Announce GM Jason Botterill has been Fired. Kevyn Adams Named GM
Ducky replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I know next to nothing about KA but I would have looked at Ron Hextall's availability. He built a good team in Philly. He drafted well and didn't trade many of his draft picks. -
If everybody is quarantined and isolated though, it shouldn't matter should it? I wouldn't want it to be in Winnipeg. The city and the province has really done a good job of kicking the virus. Most of the cases showing up which is about an average of one a day maybe are travel related. To be honest, if it were up to me, the season would be over and the Stanley Cup would not be handed out this year.
-
I heard that if they can prove they have quarantined for the 14 days prior to entering Canada, they are good to go. I'm not sure how they can prove that? If they fly here, have they been quarantined or possibly exposed on the plane? I also heard that all involved will be tested for the virus every day and full face shields will not be mandatory. I'm not sure that it matters but Alberta has done well fighting the virus.
