  1. One person I'd loved to have beers with and listen to his stories. I'd run out of beer and money before RJ ran out of stories.
  2. So if the lights come down at 6:59 you would concede? I'll take that bet. I think every other night that a pre game ceremony was going down you would be correct, but they have sent me emails reminding me when to be there. I also think the Sabres media staff have become much better at their craft (if resent past performance is any indication) and I'm prepared for a very nice tribute. I'll gladly buy you a beer if I'm wrong.
  3. Covid 19 sweater makes me smile, a little humor for the past 2 years is not a bad thing. The Johnny one is just stupid.
  4. Then how are you a bona-fide student in May of 2020 (Levi's date) ? I'm assuming a commitment letter and that commitment is fulfilled when you show up to school that fall.
  5. As long as she is bringing the keto syrup there will be peace and love. It's great fun when we can't even agree what time to sit down. Never a dull moment.
  6. He must have signed a commitment letter prior to June of 2020.
  7. Signing a commitment letter is a bona-fide student, so I'm assuming the letter was signed pre June 2021. Levi was drafted on 2020. edit Sorry Matt you're talk Portillo
  8. Rob Ray stated last night they are asking people to start seating at 6:20 for a 6:40 ceremony start. I really don't care when it starts I'll be there early. But most likely this.
  9. Thank you for being patient with me. I see what happened now. "Levi committed to play in Boston for the NCAA Division I Northeastern University's Huskies men's ice hockey team, starting in the 2020–21 season. However, Levi did not begin his college career until the following season, due to his lingering rib injury" He was in school just not playing.
  10. Where was he year one? In the USHL and in college, or was he at home in the USHL? edit for a little clarification. You just need to be enrolled but not go to college for the clock to start ticking?
  11. He was in the USHL was he going to class his first year?
  12. I believe that for some, just seeing RJ’s banner being raised would not have been enough to get them to go. Then why this?
  13. It also says he must be a student at the time of drafting, both must apply. "If a Player drafted at age 18 or 19 is a bona fide college student at the time of his selection in the Entry Draft, or becomes a bona fide college student prior to the first June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft That to me starts year 1.
  14. That's not at all how it's written. If a Player drafted at age 18 or 19 is a bona fide college student at the time of his selection in the Entry Draft, is in his fourth year of college and has commenced his fourth year of NCAA eligibility, or (2) is in his fourth year of college and is scheduled to graduate from college at the end of his fourth year, then in the circumstances described in (1) or (2), the Club shall retain the exclusive right of negotiation for such Player's services through and including the August 15 Nowhere does it say 4 years post draft is he eligible for UFA. If he's a college student.
  15. There was maybe 9k (could be closer to 6k) people at Wednesday's game. It is sold out for RJ night. Let's not pretend RJ is not the draw. They are not selling 10k tickets in 5 days just to watch them play the Predators.
  16. Then he can sign 45 days after free agency starts if Buffalo doesn't sign him first. IIRC it's mid August before he can sign with another team.
  17. Another week has gone by. The Sabres are sitting at 59 points with 68 games played and 14 games remaining. They have a killer schedule for the month of April. They win half their remaining games (asking a lot) the end with 73 points.
  18. How much draft capital do they spend on a goalie that had a hot year? How much draft capital do they spend on a goalie that was good (NHL average?) for 3-4 years? Does acquiring either mean future play will be at or near past performance? The only way you win with a goalie is to bring one up through the ranks.
  19. You where OOOHHH so close! https://thehockeywriters.com/what-ever-happened-to-jimmy-carson/ Well, Carson embarked on a new career as a financial advisor. A quote from former owner of the Los Angeles Kings, Bruce McNall says about Carson’s decision to leave hockey: (LA Times) “In a weird way, I knew Jimmy’s heart was not as much into it,” says McNall of his friend, who neither smoked, drank nor partied with teammates. “He was an intellectual, multidimensional guy, read the Wall Street Journal, and so many other players just don’t have his opportunities and interests. So I always thought, deep down, that maybe long-term hockey wouldn’t be for him.” @Curt See, they go to class!
  20. I was in college in the late 80's. If it didn't have a twist off top or big hair there was little interest.
