  1. I'll ask what I keep on asking.... Watch the replay of the 2nd goal from begind the net? How can you say an NHL goalie should NOT make that save? If one of your D-men is taken out with a good pick play, and there is no trailer so you can focus on the shooter, that save must be made.
  2. Yeah, its frustrating but I'm not sure the parade of posts complaining about defensive positioning. That was a multi-deflection that the defense couldn't react to. This game to me is on the offense (27 shots they should have more than 2 goals) and the goaltending. (Levi should have had one save, and had a decent chance a 2nd)
  3. After reading some posts about how neither of the goals were Levi's fault, I really disagree. The first one was somewhat of a screen, but he is a small goalie. He needs to read the play better he needs to challenge the shooter more. On the 2nd goal that was for sure on him. He came out more than I thought, but he was set, he was focused on the shooter, he saw the shot the entire way, He was just beat cleanly. When you see the replay from behind the net, yeah, its hard not to say he shouldn't have had that one. For the person who keeps disagreeing with me, I challenge you to watch the replay of that goal and tell me why he shouldn't have made the save? The defense could be better, but when you look at the replay of the last goal he allowed, no way I don't want an NHL goalie to not make that save.
  4. totally disagree on the last one. It was from a prime scoring area, but Levi wasn't screened AND he had time to get set and was facing the shooter. There wasn't a trailer coming in on the far side, no reason for him to not come out farther to take away the shot. He needs to read the ice and notice that. He's a smaller goalie, you are going to get picked unless you take away the angles better and come out. He didn't do that when there was no reason not to without a trailer. he needs to be better. When you see the shot, AND you are set and not moving and facing the shooter, I really, really want that save made.
  5. Well, Tage had goals in 4 games in a row until he got hurt. Not only are you missing that production, but he was doing it (in theory) against the best the opposing teams had to offer. You lose his production and now the rest of the team has harder matchups.
  6. Levi really needs to go down to Rochester to get some work in. Reimer really didn't play well and was waived by Anaheim, but his numbers in his 2 games are about the same as what Levi is giving you.
  7. That was a good shot from a prime area, but Levi had a chance to see that one and get set up. Tough save, but when he sees it and is set and not moving, I need that save. To me thats more on the goalie than the D, even though I want Dahlin to step up toward the shooter a bit.
  8. One win and things are looking better again, just get it done tonight. I needed to post something in this thread to bring it back to the top so I can find it. One loss against Montreal and the hate and complaining in the rest of the forum is back to being almost as bad as ever.
  9. Ruff said in an interview either yesterday or this morning that the team has to stop having losses turn into losing streaks. They haven't done that yet. First loss turned into a 3 game losing streak. Next loss after that turned into 2 in a row. Next loss after that was another 3 game losing streak. When you have a loss, find a way to not make it turn into a streak. Hopefully that starts tonight.
  10. Oh, I'll be interested to watch and I wouldn't be surprised if they win or score a handful of goals. Just, it just doesn't look right.
  11. Obviously, he is no where close to a 2nd line winger at this point. (I'm thinking your post might be sarcasm?) Put aside his defensive liabilities for a moment (I think you can work around them if he brings something else to the table) and just look at his production: -In his last 12 games for the Sabres last year, he had 0 goals and 1 assist. -In his last 36 games for the Sabres last year (his downturn in production started or accelerated near the end of January) he had a total of 6 goals and 4 assists -Including this year with Edmonton, since that time this past January, over those 52 games he has 9 goals and 7 assists (14 goal and 11 assist pace per 82, and some of that time he did have playing with McDavid and/or Draisaitl). He's shooting 7.3% over that time (about 35% lower than his career average) I think he's shot offensively. So he is a defensive liability already, you can only justify him having a spot on your team if he nets 25-30+ for you. I don't think you are getting close to that. His effective NHL career might be coming to a close rapidly.
  12. I don't see those lines sticking together for the entire game unless the Sabres carry and maintain a 1-3 goal lead for the whole game. I'm not sure which would be BETTER lines, but those just don't look right.
  13. First of all, the injuries are an issue. We can't get by that. But beyond that, he HAS played well in the past in his own end, what has changed since then? I think he has the ability, is it a mental thing? If he did it before, you would think he can do it again (hopefully) and if that is the case, the contract isn't a huge problem. The other positive about him, I think he is good, a VERY good penalty killer overall. His size/reach allows him to cover a lot of ground down low without moving too much. He just needs to learn when to try to move someone out of the front of the net, and needs to continue to get strong enough to do so. Is he able to do all of the above? I don't know. I think he can, but again, you can't get beyond him always being injured it seems. With the Sabres having Power, Dahlin, and possibly Byrum long term eating up a ton of minutes, Samuelsson doesn't have to be anything more than a 14-15 minute per game 3rd pairing guy. If he gives you 3-4 of those minutes per game killing penalties, AND he can just get CLOSE to the form he had a couple years ago for the even strength 10-12 minutes per game, then again, he's not a problem. There are a lot of "ifs" up there though..
  14. A quick web search says Samsung has it. I know at one point they did, they they dropped it, maybe the picked it back up? I have no love for Cable companies, especially spectrum. But their 'choice' package is the only reason I came back to them, with the ability to get MSG and the Sabres games.
  15. We have all roku devices/tvs in our house. Not for the interface, not for the search function...for one simple reason. It has the spectrum TV app built in. We can get the Sabres games/MSG and a handful of other channels using their 'choice' plan (not having to get 50 channels I don't want) and pay half as much...and with the app on the Roku, I don't need a cable box or any other junk. We had a Samsung TV, they stook the spectrum app off of it. Google TV also doesn't have it. Last time I checked not on Fire TV. Not sure about Apple TV. I know you can get it through an Xbox console, but I don't have one of those. Roku for us isn't the best looking interface, but for no other reason than the spectrum app, we have it.
  16. about 2 hours ago, both the web site and the mobile app slowed down quite a bit. It didn't crash for me, but it was slow for about 30-45 minutes. They issued a statement saying they had an issue on the 'east coast'. Since then, its been fine for me again.
  17. Ok, when I think about is he 'qualified' for the job, I think more about year 1...did he deserve it then because does he know how the GM job is supposed to be executed. The reason I don't think about that much anymore is because since he had the position for years now, he knows that. He's been through a few drafts. He knows the phone numbers of the other GM's and how to contact them. He knows how the position works. So being 'qualified' for the job to me was an issue in year one. Now that we are beyond that, I only think about how he has done in the job (performance) and what he is 'allowed' to do (Pegula).
  18. To be fair, to many of us the #1 offseason 'hope and dream' was that Tage would return to form as a 40+ goal guy. That one did happen. Many people disagreed with it....so it is unfair to say ALL of the offseason hopes/dreams/assumptions are false.
  19. To answer your question directly, there are bad moves he made but some good ones: The Tage contract. Zucker signing. The McLeod trade looks good to some of us right now. Drafting Benson as late as he did. Acquiring Greenway. Removing Skinner from the Roster (he has 3 goals and 6 points in 16 games in Edmonton, looks like he hit that 'age' wall). Many of those moves were not 'big time' moves that Pegula would have wanted a huge say in (Zucker, McLeod, probably Benson and Greenway). If Pegula were to remove himself from the equation, and just be an owner who is a fan-from-the-stands and takes in the revenue and signs the checks only, I think there is a CHANCE Adams might be able to make bigger moves that would be better than what needs to have input from Pegula right now. I understand many don't agree with this, but that is the narrative I think is most likely to be true. I think if the hockey guys, Ruff, Adams, and the analytics dept were able to make 100% of the moves and Pegula never entered the room, this team would be making much better decisions.
  20. 2 things that happened to me this week: 1.) The person (usually an older woman but sometimes its some guys) who goes out in public wearing WAAAAAYYYY too much perfume, and its never the 'softer' smelling ones, but the ones that are so sharp that when you take one whiff of it it feels like someone put a spike through your head. Seriously, I was at the UPS store the other day and I got hit with it when I walked through the door, and the woman wearing it was still 8-10 feet away. When I got in line, it was so strong/heavy of a sharp floral smell it made my nose start tingling in a bad way. 2.) This one is usually the women again (not to pick on them specifically, but it happens). When you are checking out at a store...a grocery store, the post office...once the Cashier gives your your change (or the receipt if you play by credit card), can you please move along and make room for the next person. It happens too often where the woman in front of me gets her receipt, the cashier is waiting for me to step up, but the customer grabs the receipt...then puts their purse up on the ledge...opens the purse, puts the receipt inside in some deep dark space that takes 5-10 seconds to find....zippers the purse back up...slowly puts it back over their shoulder....and ONLY THEN moves out of the way. (this happens at the post office frequently). How hard would it be to step aside and move 3 feet down the counter, or turn around and use the table to do all of that so the line can keep moving and you don't hold up everyone else behind you?
  21. Thanks, You won't be getting much out of me, I'm more of a 'reader' and a 'follower' than a poster. I just want a platform like Twitter or Blue Sky (maybe not the best name, I have this overwhelming urge to abbreviate it every time I type about it as "BS")....I want a platform available that doesn't have tons of ads but has enough info on it to make it worth following. Almost everyone I want to follow still uses Twitter. But the platform just gets so much less user friendly every month that goes by.
  22. My guess is those things might be coming, but it will be a little bit of time. They go to where the users are. The old 'chicken-vs-egg' thing. They won't go there until there are enough users, but many users won't go there until those people are there to follow. I can't remember the exact agency, but there was a local agency (something like the MTA in NY city or the "T" in Boston, or maybe some early weather warning service for a region...I forgot which one) that actually quit Twitter a month or so ago because of some new rules/regulations making it harder to for them to give out information. Again, sorry for being so vague, maybe someone else remembers the story...but my though it again, those things might be on Blue Sky, but its going to take some time.
  23. Some WGR guys just moved over there...they don't post a ton, but someone else to follow on BlueSky: @zachjonessports.bsky.social @nategearysports.bsky.social And on a non-sports related them: Maps. I love maps. If I'm bored, I might just fire up google maps and just look around for minutes, or longer. I've gone to museums full of maps on vacation for fun. If anyone is strange like me with Maps: terriblemaps.bsky.social Its someone who has 1/2 of his posts comedic posts about maps, 1/2 of his posts informative posts about maps, and the final 1/2 of his posts are a 1/2 / 1/2 post about maps that is both comedic and informative.
  24. I just hope one of the new socials takes off. First I was thinking Threads, now I'm going to try Bluesky. I'm still on Twitter and I don't really care who runs it or what their views are, I'm just tired of getting hammered with so many ads (I'll take a few, but sometimes it seems like I have almost as many ads as posts to read) and for people seeking out my old posts just so they can attack me/yell at me because I only agreed with 90% of what they said 6 months ago.
  25. I could pick individual moves that seem to be working out, but that isn't my point. It doesn't MATTER if Adams is good or not, because he is a puppet for Pegula. End of story for me. I do not know if he is good or not, because I believe everything is run by, and approved or rejected by Pegula. Adams has no autonomy. We know Botts got fired because he would not do Pegula's bidding (see the articles written about that, there were many). My whole point is why fire Adams, you are only going to get the exact same thing. Adams MAY be terrible as a GM, he may be GREAT, but we cannot know while Pegula is playing the wizard-behind-the-curtain, and if Adams does get fired, it will be nothing more than a 'sacrifice to the masses' demanding change, and he will be replaced with a new person who has the exact same job guidelines and restrictions.
