  1. This is the part that I think everyone is disagreeing with. Myers was incredibly stagnant while he was here outside out his Calder season. Armia was an incredibly huge disappointment while he was here, even though he was probably the one player Sabres fans which would pan out.
  2. I think EIchel looks much better in 15 than 41. Numbers in the forties just seem weird to me. I'm happy you left off 91 or there might be a serious issue.
  3. In my opinion Shattenkirk is better, but when considering the cost, a run a Yandle would suit this team much better. I don't think we have anything that we'd all be willing to give up for Shattenkirk, but I think we could fit Yandle into our budget.
  4. I agree with the league sentiment, but Matthews also broke Kane's USNTDP record by a pretty substantial amount which is outweighs the league comparison IMO
  5. Nylander is 17, or 23 months younger than Lemieux, which is a pretty big difference in the OHL and life in general at that age. Not to mention Bailey and Baptiste have nearly identical size and ppg as Lemieux in their overage seasons and can both be agitators without getting suspended and racking up penalty minutes. We had three of the same guys in our pipeline and we got rid of the lowest one IMO. http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=116970 http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=177647 http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=106161
  6. Because he's faster, younger, a better all around player and most importantly he's not a dirty player.
  7. After looking through Button's mock draft I noticed that he had no Canadian going before the sixth pick. The latest it has ever taken for a Canadian to be drafted was sixth overall with Brian Finley in 1999. Other than that, third overall looks to be the latest.
  8. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7-H3eJFCd4 from this year's WJC featuring Laine and Aho from last year's WJC featuring Lainehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyCMUR-1Nyk from...acting class? First thing to stick out is his vision with the puck and his ability to split defenders. Can't find too many videos in English. I'm sure more highlight packages will come out closer to the draft
  9. I can't remember one way or the other, but did they play on the same line at all in last year's WJC? Maybe while they were in USNDT too
  10. Good post. I'm very ignorant when it comes to contracts and I have a hard time valuing players in dollar amounts, so when someone spells it out it's nice. With that being said, give me two third liners over Stall at that point.
  11. Not sure you've been to an induction before but if you're truly a big fan, it's a must see. The fans from the DR travelled incredibly well last year for Pedro and it was fantastic. To see the passion that other fans from around the world have is incredible.
  12. In my mind it's more acknowledging a great career had by a player. With his injury issues, the hall was probably out of reach but I expected him to hang around for a while. The discussion around BBHOF usually seems much less black and white than that of other sports and to be honest, I thought he could sneak in once the field shrunk down. The discussion surrounding him would have been much greater. Top 10 CF in homers and slugging percentage, .903 OPS, and 9 gold gloves (not that they are substantial in rating defense). If Edgar Martinez can flirt with the hall of fame only swinging the bat, then Edmonds' superb defense should make up for his .284 average (.376 OBP) and his inability to play more than 140 games a year.
  13. Zero was a bit of a hyperbole, but it greatly limited his value. It's the same reason teams are looking to buy low on Drouin, only Drouin is significantly better and has NHL experience already.
  14. To be fair, Colorado's broadcast team also used the name Rhino. Maybe he was never a fan of it and saw the chance to pass it to someone else.
  15. At the end of the day, Lemieux had zero value to us as he refused to sign. I disagree with Stafford being the perfect rental, he's got limited playoff success. Armia was in his second American season and was still very meh. Bogo was never supposed to be the offensive defenseman that Myers was supposed to be and I think a lot of fans are expecting that from him. At the end of the day, we traded a high upside offensive-defenseman, a player who refused to play for us, a player who can't translate to the American game, an inconsistent rental player, and our lowest possible first round pick for a player who has 30 goal upside (and has gotten there before), a more two-way defenseman with top four upside, and a big bodied goalie. We needed goal scoring and GMTM saw an opportunity to get us a 30 goal scorer and a potential all-world in Jack Eichel.
  16. Gotta drop that "h," but holy is that a name
  17. Yes.
  18. So long as Psysk is nicknamed pisser, I'm going to have to disagree.
  19. In my opinion the larger tragedy is that Jim Edmonds is already off of the ballot.
  20. We'll trade them Moulson for a third and then he'll pot 50 in 37 with Crosby.
  21. As long as nobody pronounces it rain-o, I think I can manage.
  22. I said it earlier, but I think Nashville sold low on Jones long term. They needed a solid center badly, but they gave up a fantastic defenseman.
  23. Galchenyuk-Drouin swap? TB would need to add to, but Montreal uses Galchenyuk terribly, to the point where they seem uninterested in him.
  24. I think that Kane has a much higher upside than Simmonds, though right now he might not be a better player than him. If I'm the Flyers I'd like Girgensons+mid-level prospect and maybe a 2/3 round pick for him. With three years left on his deal, that's a trade I would make.
