Are there any Taking Back Sunday fans out there?

They're coming to Riverworks on July 27th and I can't wait!!

It really depends on the night with them imo. You'll see some mic swinging one way or the other, but they (read: Adam) don’t always sound that good.

Im sure there’s some other TBS fans on here. Someone used to have a The Story So Far icon, I’d bet they’re one, too.

  2. Being a season ticket holder is a lifelong dream. I left the area at 18, having gone to ~100 games with my dad as a kid. I always swore if I moved back to the area, getting tickets would be the first thing I did. I even joined the waiting list not knowing if I’d ever return.

Well, 14 years later I’m back home. I saw this and instinctively clicked the link for info. I just can’t do it. I won’t give them a cent until they’ve given me something in return other than agita.

Personally, I’d take a stretch of multiple enjoyable regular seasons leading to playoff berths ultimately ending in disappointment than I would multiple terrible regular seasons to the tune of the worst run of all time in professional sports followed by coming in even lower by expectations than the Leafs because we can’t finish higher than 22nd any single season

    but that’s just me

    He’s so damn good

I would love to be that frustrated again.

Tampa has no picks, prospects or cap space. They are loaded with experience and edge.

The Sabres are exactly the opposite.

I don't think you'll find many teams that are a better trade match.

i wonder if Nick Paul or Tanner Jeannot might be available at a price we can afford.

Tanner Jeannot would do wonders for this team.

Picked Ehlers because he seemed to represent the “really good 2nd-liner” level that represents the low end of the peer group.

Another way of saying it would be “you score 25-30 goals at 21 and the odds look really good you’re going to continue doing that, or better, throughout your career.” (Which we should keep in mind with Dylan Cozens, who hit 31).

The question with Peterka is really “how much can he grow?”

His skate/shoot combo is high-end. His compete and vision seem good.

His consistency and details need work.

He had 25 even-strength goals, that was good for 19th in the entire NHL last year.

Leon Draisaitl had 20, Stamkos 21, McDavid 24.

I think he’s going to be a monster when we have a real power play system. Hopefully this is just the start.

So some good players there and Ristolainen.. not bad

I’d rather package our first with one or more of our young players and prospects to get someone better than anyone on that list.

Whoever gets the best player in the present almost always wins the trade. I don’t give any about how much it could potentially hurt our team in five years from now. We are losers now, it’s not like we can be downgraded to super losers. We’d have hit that status years ago.

Lol - ironically, with our household now being much smaller, we don't subscribe like we used to. Our produce farm share was always through our church -- it was from the Porter family farm in Genesee County. I think they've since branched out to doing meats as well. They may be WNY's "OG" CSA. I would vouch for them, for sure. When the kids were young, we would visit the farm at some point following harvest -- just to catch a vibe.

We also used Native Offerings at times - some produce, some beef.

I'll have to ask my wife where we had our pig share for a few years. Because that was my favourite CSA we ever participated in -- loins, tenderloins, chops, bacon -- good lord.

When we were in Nashville we lived a five minute walk to the farmers market and it really turned me on to buying direct. Not only to support local, but the conversations and connections were always a nice way to start the day. We’re walking distance to the Bidwell Market opening in a few weeks. I believe Porter Farms is there. I’ll have to check out the offerings.

    Thanks!

Just for the record, Phil Housley is the associate coach of this year’s Presidents’ Trophy winning team. So maybe we don’t mock him as an assistant.

He seems like a really good example of the Peter Principle. I had no issue with his hire, he’s just missing something that keeps him from success as the big boss.

But there isn’t any certainty with coaches. You can’t just plug in coach X into any team and make the playoffs because he made the playoffs 5 out of the last 7 years with team Y.  It just doesn’t work like that.  These things are fluid. Ultimately, as I’ve pounded my self anointed podium, it comes down to the players.  I don’t think the current mix is anywhere near a cup contender.  Lindy could probably get these guys into the postseason but they need to mix up their lineup.  Too many danglers, not enough other aspects to the game.

At the end of the day, I’d be surprised if we didn’t more or less agree with our views. I know it’s on the players as well. The frustration is that they made the predictable move when there were arguably better options out there. Ruff can certainly be the man for the job and I will celebrate his success if that’s the case. But the Sabres organization doesn’t look thorough and serious here imo.

Let’s make the playoffs first, then we can worry about how far they go.  There isn’t some magic formula these “wizards” as some people are attributing to Cup winning coaches. They just push buttons. Some of them get it right, some of them don’t.  You move on until you find one that works.  Otherwise there would be only a dozen coaches in the history of the league.  They all just kept winning cups because of the magic they performed. 🙄

The playoffs is my entire point. Ruff has very little success making the playoffs and like you said, when we does, it’s because he already has a playoff roster, not that he has elevated the team. There was much more pedigree out there from a making the playoffs perspective. Especially in the last decade. But they went with Ruff.

Years ago, we started doing farm shares, produce and meats. Buy Local.

More recently, I’ve made a conscious choice to do something similar with music (especially live music). The results have been more rewarding than I could have anticipated. My favourite thing about Listen Local? Buffalo’s Del Paxton. I avoid labels and comps when it comes to music — but, I’ll offer: If Rush and Weezer had 3 babies, they grew up in and around central NYS, settled in Buffalo, and became hobbyist runners. I listen to the sh1t out of their catalog.

We just moved back to the area and have been looking for a CSA and meat share. Any good recommendations?

Predictable. I don't think he wants to be anywhere near what the Sabres players are about to experience.  Not that they'll hate Lindy and he's about to grind them to a stump. Ollie just doesn't seem like the type of player to embrace the suck.  My guess is he won't be in the NHL much longer.

He spent his entire career with an inept, loser franchise and finally comes a chance to sign elsewhere and now he’s not tough enough to stick it out? lol this is a great take. The only reason anyone has re-signed here the last decades is security, overpayment, or knowing we are their only suitor.

The spleen injury he supposedly had take 3 to 5 months to recover; yet here he is after barely 2 months playing high contact sports.

And you’re claiming what exactly then? That he’s not playing through the pain of a spleen injury and has been faking for months? He’s a hockey player, if he can tie up his skates and contribute in the playoffs he’s going to.

Eichel was winning late game face offs. Amazing what coaching can do.

It was so close to Edmonton Vegas which would have been really good. This LA series is a bust. Maybe a couple rounds from now.........

I’ve read face off wins are almost directly tied to face offs taken at the NHL level. It’s no surprise he’s gotten better.
