I watched Nick Shmaltz light up Pittsburgh, Yamamoto is on the second line with the Oil, Boston has 5 young guys in their lineup and maybe more due to Backes. I get development, but keeping them in Rochester for develoment is fine if the player on the big club is contributing. Bailey is no worse than Poulliot same goes for Fasching though he has less AHL time. If the best that Bailey will ever be is a bottom 6 player then he is better than a few we have now. If he is a middle six, I would live with his gaffes and let him learn at a higher level. In either event he gives the big club a better player. I get the placeholder idea, but I don’t want to dig a hole while the placeholder controbutes nothing.

There was a play in the 3rd last night wbere Jack was on the half wall and Kane at the top of the circle by the tjme Jack could control the puck to pass Kane took off for.the corner. Jack dumped it into open space. Even if Kane got it down low, the scoring threat was negligible. I notice that alot when the two are out together.

By St. Patrick's Day 2018 Kane will be on a playoff bound team or one with realistic chances of being one. Whether that team is the Sabres remains to be seen. Kane is a driver in his own way. I just think his style hampers players who see the whole ice as they are expecting him to zig when he all to often zags.

I think Jack has to think more tactically in certain situations. Soft dumps, opponent's tendencies etc will be apparent on film.

That is my take as well. Shot generation is all well and good, but if they are from a clean view against a guy like Price, they aren't very dangerous. Griffith had a few opportunities to shoot while the goalie was moving and he passed. Can't be afraid in those situations.

Its more like Kane is a straight point A to point B player. He doesn’t find the soft spots like Pommers did. As a d, it is easy to position yourself to negate the passing lane. And the goalie can focus on the shooter. Some of it is on Jack to pull up at times, but they just seem to be guessing at where each other is going.

I would like to see kane and girgs switched. I don’t see the vibe with Kane and Jack.
