Good girls like bad men.
I personally don’t see the humor in it but this one is going around and several athletes have been mentioned, Diggs among them.

Want? We need a goalie that can carry the team if need be, if we're going to make deep runs into the playoffs. Also I've been saying this for a while. This isn't my first shot at our goalies. I also gave UPL an out in that I know he's young and he may very well become the goalie we need , but he is definitely not there yet. Because the fact remains UPL has a GA average of 3.26. UPL has made some great saves but at the end of the game they still scored 3 goals against us. The only reason we are sniffing the playoffs is because our offensive players have developed quicker than expected. If we didn't have one of the highest scoring offense in the NHL we would not even be close to a playoff spot. I've said this before as well that if you have to score 4 goals per game you're not going to win a lot of games. Thankfully our offense is able to overcome this quite often. I will not say our goaltending is doing well, when in fact it is not.
At the end of the game they scored two. After a decade+ of crap I’m fired up for a fast exciting team with a huge young goalie that’s made all kinds of strides and grabbed the number one spot.

I had a boss that had a severe stroke in his late 30’s. Ended up quadriplegic and unable to speak but with intellect fully intact. Using adaptive tools he started a stroke survivors network. He lived another 30 years in that state. Prayers that Kim recovers as much function as possible.

Not to nit-pick, but that first goal on Comrie...eeehh. It's fine considering we won, but I don't know if he played that well.
Seems like we are at the point of expecting too much from goalies. It was an uncontested laser from the top hash mark of the circle. Credit to the shooter.

But Okposo isn't a grinder. He's a middle 6 power forward, the team leader, and one of the few players with Dad-strength. When the team came out flat against (I forget the opponent) HCDG dropped Tuch off the top line and inserted Okposo. That was the spark for a comeback. He's the replacement for Tuch on the top line. Last season, Okposo was on PP2 and in the top 6 and netted 20 goals. He could do that again this season if asked to. He doesn't have the speed to run-and-gun with JJP-Cozens-Quinn, but that line would arguably be better all around with OK on it (Quinn-Cozens-Okposo), just with more of a possession style. Instead, he's asked to be a defensive stalwart and build Krebs up into a player. The Sabres don't have a winger in the pipeline ready to be anything close to Okposo (maybe Nadeau or Bloom but they're years away). Look for him to sign something $3-3.75 for next season, and maybe 2-3.5 if they offer 2 years.
I acknowledge the hat trick he had and then see 4 goals in his other 37 games. Even with his intangibles that’s not enough for a middle six power forward and by this time next year I expect to see him bringing less on the ice.
Love KO.

I wholeheartedly disagree with your take that his contributions are more associated with his intangibles than it is with his actual performance. KO's goal scoring is not going to be very impressive. But his on ice play is a factor in this team's success. He's the most consistent player on this team whose hard and grinding style of play contributes to wins. At the end of close games he is going to be on the ice. He is not going to be one of the players that the coach leaves on the bench because he is a responsible and reliable player.
Winning teams are composed of a variety of parts and roles. You are making a mistake if you undervalue the contributions that players such as Okposo and Girgs add to this team.
I think grinders can be replaced as needed (not at will, but as targeted) and that his contributions on the ice will be less next year than they are this year. Would rather next year have a grinder that is younger/faster/cheaper.

Arguably, Okposo has been the best captain in this franchise's history. He has been a stabilizing presence (even when not the captain) when this was a dysfunctional organization. He has been a factor in this franchise's transition from a bottom feeding team to a competitive team. He's also a recognized leader on and off the ice by his teammates and organization. He's the type of player and person that you can't measure his value by the numbers.
KO is clearly an asset at this point merely based on intangibles. I don’t think that will be sufficient to keep him in the lineup next year. His job as a mentor has been completed successfully. Next year leadership should be handed over to Dahlin and Cozens and KO’s place taken by someone younger, cheaper and faster.

Also, the idea of trading VO is officially nuts. He's going to get at least 35 this year and next year if he stays healthy.
I want him around just for some ABBA in the air. Love it!

If the Jaguars cant be this team with Henne .
They deserve to never be in playoffs again
Reid is a master play caller. He will get Henne in a position to succeed. Will he is the question.

He’s going to score soon and take off that much more. Would almost like to see him be less patient. Stud in the making.

Middlestadt, Bryson and Asplund
Middlestadt not only has about 3-4 turnovers a game, he's a glider and if I saw that vast improvements that some of you see I'd be all for keeping him but nothing I see from him warrants a roster spot at this time and imo.
Bryson is too small and doesn't do anything well, doesn't play strong enough defense, has trouble getting the puck out of our own zone and doesn't have a good enough offensive game to warrant a spot anymore.
I used to like Asplund's defensive game but I feel like this year he's almost been invisible, I barely notice him good or bad so obviously a guy like that could surely be replaced.
One man’s glider is another man’s grinder. I think Mitts hustles his ass off all over the ice.

This is a joke right? Replacing a mediocre bottom 6 player for a better one is a bad look? In what universe?
In one of the more active board member’s universe. I guess some of you missed it.

It doesn’t seem that long ago that losing Sheehan, essentially for Jost, was a bad look for the organization. They seem to be recovering from that but let’s not completely airbrush it away.

Power play has been good with Cozens so no complaints. In a situation like last night where the opponent is taking away TT it would be nice to have VO getting set up for one-timers on the other side. Maybe a change for tonight’s game is in order.

We are a star offensive player away from serious contending.that is tremendous progress!!
I’m betting Quinn is that player eventually. Wish it was now but I’ve learned patience.

Spoiler alert: they don't make it out of the woods.
I’ve been with them since ‘73 and am super excited. It all depends on one’s outlook. Enjoy whatever it is that you enjoy!
