I have not seen physicality as an issue at all so far this season.

We’ve seen a number of highlight reel hits, a handful of fights and guys standing up for each other on a consistent basis.

Johnson/Clifton/Greenway for Bryson/Clague/Pilut/Hinostroza/Asplund has made a difference. Dahlin, Samuelsson and Cozens have taken steps in this area.

Can’t say anyone has pushed us around. Tampa, the Islanders and the Sens all tried and failed. The games that have gotten rough are actually the games we’ve won.

Couldn’t agree more. The questions surrounding grit and toughness can be put to bed. I know that’s wishful thinking on my part but they are not backing down from anything.

To me this one's really important. We see if they bring the same intensity and physicality they brought in the red and black last game. If they bring that same game again they should win and maybe even dominate. But will they? I think the answer to that question will tell us a lot about how this season might go.

Even if they do someone will come back with “it was only Montreal”. I wonder who?

Did you actually WATCH the game?

The Sabres were dumping the puck out of the zone the entire period with no concern for actually skating it out of the zone nor making passes.  At least 3 of those shots the Sabres got came immediately off the approximately 4 faceoffs the entire period that were in the Bolts end.

I was there. I don’t see 9 SOG in one period as full on Alamo mode.

Agree with that in large part, but really believe losing Samuelsson caused a bit of a "crisis of confidence" among them all and that was a big part of them deciding to go full on Alamo mode essentially the entire 3rd period.

If the next time they're protecting a slim lead heading into the 3rd they just into a total shell, well then we have an issue.  Not meaning to excuse the Alamo mode because really don't want to do that and also will fully acknowledge it allowed the Bolts to steal a point and keep the Sabres from gaining a better tiebreaker outcome than they ended up with.  But, missing their best pure defensive D-man, they did manage to hold the Bolts to about 3 quality chances that whole period.  Of course, it only took that 3rd chance to get TB to OT.

How does an 11-9 TB shots on goal margin in the 3rd equate to “full on Alamo mode”?

This is what I'm talking about. We had it, we lost it, we need to get it back.

The question is on the belief that it "is coming" or not. Chicken and egg. I'm not sure we can get it back the way we are doing it. Mike Peca behind the Rangers bench is going to bug me all year I think.

Looking forward to hearing about it.

I will continue to beat the dead horse that Power had no business being handed that contract.  His refusal to play any defense other than stick checking is not acceptable, and shame on DG and the other coaches for doing nothing about it. I’d sit his a$$ in the press box until he shows in practice that he will engage the opposition.

    That being said…good win!

He was really good. He’s got some Benson-level awareness.

You can’t be talking about the snipe by one of the most gifted players in the league that went in off the inside of the post. Can you?

Incoming CEO fired for affair with an underling for those that don’t want to click.

These things are frowned upon in businesses much larger than professional sports teams. This story had a very happy ending for Lockheed Martin investors and employees as his replacement was an absolute powerhouse.

This is a great analysis. I believe I was the first here to proclaim this kid is going to be star and I would like to formally double-down on that prediction. I mean, he's already a star in the market but just a curiosity for the rest of the league. He will be a star across the league. I bet you he eventually makes an appearance in a movie, too.

You were also the first to claim that he doesn’t belong because his safety is at risk for reasons of entertainment. I hope you are able to enjoy watching him play.

    This is shocking to me.

Regular season is several notches up from pre-season.

We'll find out right away if he can elevate his pace of play.

I still believe the best place for him right now is juniors... if Quinn was healthy, he'd have been sent back already.

Giving him 3rd or 4th line minutes isn't best for his development.

He earned his spot by outplaying everyone else vying for it. Do better.
