Agreed. I had listed his career numbers -- 22 min/night is his average, so... 2nd pairing with plenty of PK has been his usage.

By salary and draft-day potential, sure. By the eye test and career stats: no. Legit first-pair D don't build fully-stocked bunkers. (His best season statistically was 2011-12 with 5-25-30 at 23 min/gm. Other than that 22 min/gm and <5 goals, <20 assists per season. 2nd-pairing stay-at-home guy, despite his decent speed.)
