  1. Whoops. 12 PM Pacific for me. I was altering time and speeding up the harvest to get off this rock season. Fixed.
  2. He'd have to sign Metsa to a contract first.
  3. The 8th place race is so obnoxiously bad. UPL missed one game because of a collision injury somewhere near midseason (December, maybe?). But otherwise, if you just let Levi roll in Rochester all season, don't waive Reimer, and replace Levi's games with Reimer's numbers... you've got at least 3, and maybe as many as 5 more wins right now. The Sabres could be 1 point out of a playoff spot (and have been buyers at the deadline).
  4. It's Sabres at Caps. UPL had the Saturday start and didn't get chased despite seven goals against, so Ovechkin won't break Gretzky's record today because Reimer is playing. However, Greenway out and likely no Dahlin means that Ovechkin could get close, today. It's the last home game before back-to-back Caps games on the road.
  5. Östlund added the ENG for good measure. 31 points in his last 29 games.
  6. Amerks have chased Syracuse goalie Halverson for the third time this season. Up 3-0 after two periods. Östlund with two more helpers. Remember earlier in this thread when folks were worried about Östlund and his size, health, and getting up to AHL speed? He had 2 points in his first thirteen games this season. Since then, he has 30 points in 29 games.
  7. NCAA Frozen Four tournament is under way and the Sabres' representative prospects have been halved already. Out after one game: Mich St. (Strbak and Geary); Minnesota (Ziemer) -- and technically they still hold Huglen's rights. Next round is today/tomorrow and features BU (Gavin McCarthy), Western Michigan (Mateo Costantini), and UConn (Jake Richard). None of them face each other in this round to go to the Frozen Four.
  8. And when that's the case, it's helpful to not get outshot 32-21.
  9. Yup. The 1-0 loss to then red-hot Minnesota was the first game of the streak. Reimer lost a game early in the streak allowing only 2 goals (in his second game since being reclaimed off waivers), then the Colorado farce, and that was that. Shortly after, Colorado replaced both of their goalies. Meanwhile, the Sabres waived Reimer to start the season for no reason, and then Ruff rode UPL as if he were Hasek or Miller.
  10. He was 5-2-1 in November with a .926 sv% and 1.94 GAA. That included the LA roadtrip, a 2-1 loss at Detroit, and the 1-0 loss at home to Minnesota. But other than that, he's had a sub .900 sv % and 3.0+ GAA in every month. One month of elite; 5 months of dreck.
  11. Just like the Penguins weren't going to win a game with Jarry, the Sabres are not winning a game with Luukkonen right now. No one needs an offseason reset more.
  12. Quinn Solo... I'm captain of the M.F. Race to the 8th Pick Overall. Tagebacca here tells me you're looking for secondary scoring this season.
  13. They're the 4th, 6th, and 7th defensemen, and if it's a playoff team, they're trading for a rental for additional depth at the deadline. The lack of a true partner for Power to be the real #4, their ages/experience, and having less redundancy in puck-moving LHD are the larger issues. (As well as forwards who aren't great defensively, and a poor season from UPL.) Now, why 7/8 Bryson already has an extension -- that's another thread that's already ongoing. And yes, he should be the 8 that gets waived/clears every season. It's like TB, swapping: Hedman - Moser McDonagh - Samuelsson (Cernak) JBD (Raddysh) - Clifton (Lilleberg) (scratch: Bryson (Perbix) If your top 3 play like top-3 overall picks and are all solid 2-way veterans, it's a serviceable regular season corps and you add someone for the playoffs. Note: Cernak was drafted with a LA 2nd round pick traded with McNabb for Deslauriers and Fasching.
  14. They're 3 of the top 7 whether Dahlin is in the lineup or not. And the other 4 are all first-round picks including #1 who will get Norris votes, a #1 who is still 22 years old, and a #4OA who has already won a Stanley Cup. The composition and age of the D-corps is an issue, but Bryson, Clifton, and Samuelsson could all be a part of a good corps if the big three were all age 26 and over.
  15. Ah, the NHL Network game. It's a WGR radio call game while I do some Saturday chores. Trouble is... I'm not sure who has the puck 80% of the time. And I'm not sure he even said whether the Sabres are skating left-to-right or not. Muel-PO: Where is R2 (-D6) when I need him?
  16. ECHL Sound Tigers Islanders this season. Östlund stays frosty.
  17. All this said, I hope he's amazing and wins 2 Conn Smythe trophies for the Sabres.
  18. I didn't create a Star Wars name for Leinonen. My thoughts on Leinonen have always been. NO! It's right there in the name. LeiNO. I did do potential pick names for everyone I thought they could consider at 9, 16, and 28. I had Del Bel Belluz as a potential pick for 28. (And yes, I had Kulich in the 16 range and Östlund as a possibility at 28). Full recap here:
  19. And yeast. Three cultures. The only cultures to care about are trying to win in all capacities including spending, dairy, and yeast. And fear and surprise. Four cultures!
  20. The only culture change I really care about is the owner publicly stating that EEE is over, and we're back to spending to the cap on players and to whatever is necessary on coaches, assistants, and scoutings, as directed by my buddy Grand Ruff Lindy(tarkin). Make my Death Star Stanley Cup operational! That, and delicious yogurt and cheese. The only two cultures I care about are trying to win with every fibre of their beings and dairy.
  21. But he’s always smiling in the scrums after the whistle. He’s the ball of joy and mischief.
  22. So who can fight on the Sabres? Dunne. Greenway and Clifton. I imagine Benson would do well except he’d just get tackled.
