  1. It’s fine for the remove Cozens from the lineup and have an NHL center alongside Quinn argument. That’s good and I agree. But if it’s only for 40 games/season or fewer as the contract goes on and Norris’ body wears down further it’ll be a miss. (Though the Sabres could then pull the LTIR card — if the owner were willing to spend money that is.) Ottawa’s first move (after a 3 game trial period that shows poorly in the video reviews by the assistants) will be to move Cozens to wing.
  2. We’ve lamented Greenway and Muel get hurt too often, so Adams thinks Norris is an answer? sigh
  3. Not a trainwreck waiting to happen in his own zone? Or rather... he's not a Sabre anymore.
  4. Card player, Green Bay Gambler, scum. You'd like him. My biggest fear for him was his affiliation with the USNTDP, which makes him just another in the long line of Sabres U they've had on staff since Pegula took over. But, he's got a very skilled forward group going (Prospal) and baby defensemen (Paetsch) going well, and has the benefit of a top-10 AHL goalie. I'm not sure where they'd be if Levi was in the NHL, Reimer had not been reclaimed, and they were rolling Sandstrom and Houser all season.
  5. Risto was once a mid-first (Rosén), a second (Wahlberg), and a Hagg. And he's better now!
  6. Absolutely. Folks are getting assets for rentals. If Zucker isn't re-signed then you absolutely need to ship him out today while you can get a 1st and a 3rd. At the very least, give yourself an extra asset to move for a player in the summer.
  7. Trading Holzinger, Primeau, Sarich and a 4th (Kharitonov) into Gratton and a 2nd (Derek Roy), then spinning Gratton and a 4th (Liam Reddox) to become Briere and Sekera wasn't too bad a pair of moves. (The Gratton Exchange) A 3-4C, a career 4th liner, and Sarich, who was an extremely solid 4-6D for most of his career for a 2C, 1C/W captain, and a 3-5D is a good turn of events.
  8. They did it! Also, as we remember, the 2nd half of last season UPL was one of the best goalies in the league. This season, not so much.
  9. Misa or Schaefer, Buffalo had better move up in the lottery. Because as bad as they are, it'll be very difficult to catch San Jose/Chicago given their leads, Nashville and Pittsburgh are in an all-out race to the bottom. (I sorta think the Pens win the lottery to get Schaefer this year, then truly tank next season for McKenna. Then, a couple seasons for the old 3 to hand off to the next generation. It's like poetry, it rhymes.)
  10. JJP moving somewhere is no surprise; either via trade request or offer sheet that prompts a trade. All you have to do is tell Adams you don't want to be here. I've asked before and I'd ask again: put on your player's hat. You have one chance at a career that could get injury-shortened in the blink of an eye. Why would you ever re-sign with this franchise? (I do understand the star-level Eichel/Dahlin deals or a 4th line tweener signing here, but all the other good to very-good players can make millions anywhere else.)
  11. What's quicker to relevance and back-to-back playoff appearances: the Schaefer timeline or the Power timeline?
  12. They'll both be back the season afterward. Pegula likes Ruff and can put him in the POHO role. Adams listens to Pegula and can keep saving the Pegulas money for their quality of life.
  13. This is a really important point. This is the first season in awhile that the Sabres' D-corps has an older average age than the Amerks' D-corps (mostly thanks to Komarov). Except, I think, when Erik Johnson was in the lineup, but even then I think the Amerks had the higher average. It sounds wild because it is. Adams is going to ruin Benson by the time his bridge contract expires. Yup. I know he's not what this team needs because the D-corps is lacking muscle and heart across the board and he also lacks those things, but he's solid defensively and makes fewer mistakes than the kids, and I still think he's a Lydman-lite to any slightly-above-average D partner. He'll be fine in the playoffs with someone as a 6D.
  14. 3 is doesn’t want to be here and isn’t planning on a long-term extension with a garbage franchise.
  15. Here we go again. 90 minutes to game time. We could almost watch a Star War in that.
  16. General [Manager], I said to him, "Sir, give me one division retention and I will take that hill make that trade." And he said nothing at all, he stood there, he stared at me. I said, "General [Manager], give me one brigade RFA, and I will make that trade." And General Manager put his arms behind him and blinked. So I said, "General [Manager], give me one UFA, and I will make that trade!" And he said nothing! He just stood there... Effectively, Efficiently, Economically! I threw down my sabre in front of him! We could have done it, sir. A blind man should have seen it.
  17. Greenway is a solid contributor who plays a role this team (and all hockey teams) need. Very good. But now the move(s) need to be made that improve the team. And the biggest move is the one Adams cannot make, and Pegula won't make (I figure maximum 10% chance they have a new GM in 2026).
  18. That seems like a lot for Bjorkstrand and the expiring contract of Gourde. However, if Seattle can get a 1st each for Bjorkstrand/Gourde, then Adams theoretically can easily get a 1st for Zucker. Just would need to retain some salary. If that's permitted.
  19. I always forget the name of the website/service, but their estimate for Greenway was $3.8M per season. A little bump for the taxes and lack of palm trees, plus rising cap. He's a good player to have in the lineup. He will defend teammates, even if he isn't going to Rempe and be the cause of all the fracas in the first place (that's actually a good thing; you can have someone else be the ####-stirrer --- Benson comes to mind).
  20. Most trades don't get reported until after 12 PM ET. On Friday, some things will get reported in the morning. But, most importantly, GM Sheevyn isn't in any hurry to do anything.
  21. You know what they say. The third time's third round pick traded for Vesey is the charm.
  22. Cool. Who does he do-right by this season by giving them to Florida? Tuch to replace LTIR Tkachuk? (More likely Zucker) "He's done so much for our franchise and we want him to be happy. That means a lot to players around the league. They appreciate that and will sign here."
  23. I realize Jokiharju isn't their best defenseman, but he is steady and he somehow manages to be a plus defender even when he's not paired with Dahlin. Holding him out of the lineup has been noticeable -- it's been three games. Normally when you hold someone out of the lineup for a trade it's because the trade is imminent. Trade him already.
