  1. Jimmie Foxx hit 58 for Boston in 1932, Hank Greenberg hit 58 for Detroit in 1938, and McGwire hit 34 of his 58 home runs in 1997 for Oakland. Side note: Giancarlo Stanton hit 59 for the Marlins in 2017. That offseason, Derek Jeter (who had just become part owner of the Marlins) traded him to, of course, the Yankees.
  2. If it makes you feel better, Judge himself says the real record is 73. I'll be over here enjoying history being made, even if it is a Yankee.
  3. Cleveland helping out with a 2-1 win over Tampa.
  4. I decided to check, because that's a good question. Their first home afternoon games: 2021 - October 16 (12:00) 2020 - December 19 (3:30) 2019 - October 5 (12:00) 2018 - October 13 (3:30) 2017 - October 14 (3:30) 2016 - November 19 (1:00) 2015 - September 19 (3:30) 2014 - N/A 2013 - October 12 (3:30) 2012 - November 17 (3:30) So in the last 10 seasons, they've had exactly 1 home afternoon game in September, 7 years ago (and no afternoon games yet this year).
  5. I think it's more apt to say we need our line to get to the QB more than usual. It'll go a long way to balance the inexperience in the secondary.
  6. I assume they found it more useful for their specific craft, since lead has about half a billion definitions.
  7. It's anything but archaic. Journalists took the word 'lead' and changed it to 'lede' in 1947.
  8. Love to see it. This has been the most fun Sabres team to watch since the Regier era. Being a home town boy is just icing on the cake.

  10. Only 1 of his last 12. Pretty rough stretch.
  11. It's on ESPN.
  12. I like mid-80s. Over or under depending on how healthy we are throughout the season.
  13. Some of Allen's stiff arms would make even Derrick Henry proud.
  14. 2-9 if you count playoffs, but Mac Jones could have been peak Brady and they would have still lost to a team scoring a TD on every drive.
  15. Albert Pujols tied Alex Rodriguez's 696 home runs last night, 4th most all time. Babe Ruth is next, at 714, which is well out of reach unless he changes his plan to retire.
  16. ~75k to hold a ball five times. Nice. I'd take it.
  17. Yesterday was Allen's third career game with a 250+ yards and 3 TDs through the air and 50+ yards and a TD on the ground. That's more than any other QB going back to 1950. Kyler Murray and Jeff Garcia have done it twice, and a dozen other guys have done it once.
  18. It's been turnovers or points every drive. 0 punts.
  19. Nice way to start the game.
  20. It's her third Grand Slam quarterfinal this year. Both previous times (Świątek at the French Open and Ashleigh Barty at the Australian Open), she lost to the eventual champion. She's the highest ranked US tennis player (men or women), and she could end up ranked 5th in the world at the end of the US Open (if Sabalenka loses to Świątek and Garcia doesn't win the whole thing). An amazing year.
  21. I don't like the Yankees, but I'm enjoying following Aaron Judge's home run chase. It'd be nice to see someone who isn't part of the steroid scandal beat Marin's 61.
  22. I'm not proud of it, but I think I would lose my poop.
  23. The last time we lost in the AFC championship and then the divisional round the next year, we started our run of 4 straight Super Bowls. Let's do that again, but with wins, heh.
  24. RE: Tim Graham, I think it's a callback to the Araiza actions and how they seemingly did little to nothing until the lawsuit came out.
  25. This isn't the thread for it, so I'll just say I call it like I see it. You were being petulant and the OP is being scummy asking strangers for money. That's my last word on this matter in this thread. If anyone wants to discuss more, PM me.
