Seems like what JBOT can't get in quality, he's trying to make up in quantity. Davis Payne (ex-head coach) and Steve Smith (experienced assistant) didn't help PH much. And why is JBOT talking to assistants for a head coach he has not selected yet? JBOT has never coached at any level. Any experienced head coach would want to select his own assistants. JBOT's desperation is looking like meddling in his eventual head coach's businesses which will most certainly lead to dysfunction. Select a head coach JBOT and get out of his way or go coach the friggin' team yourself. I thought the saying was, "Owners own, managers manage, coaches coach, and players play."

I watched the entire game. The checking was smothering. The dedication to checking was obvious. Hitting was nonstop. PH said this year that he liked the way the Sabres played in a lot of the games. I watched every Sabres game and I never saw checking or hitting (except for that 3 minute stretch in 1 game) by the Sabres like I did by either team today. It was discouraging in 2 ways: 1. That PH thought that the team was checking and hitting well at any time, and 2. We have sooo far to go to be a playoff ready team. Glad it's JBOTs problem.

Not sure why JBOT has a Jacques itch for Martin. Another retread. Tells me JBOT is running scared for his job and doesn't really know what to look for in a coach except experience. I'd rather have Taylor, Keefe, Groulx, etc. than another retread. I do think, however, a retread would be a valuable assistant.
