  1. i relate ron rolston discussing injuries to dick jauron when he coached the bills. "yeah freddy's a leg, mccargo a thigh....yeah its gonna be some time"
  2. good for Biega, started the season a healthy scratch in roch but playing very well now and has never gotten a call up or anything so this gives him a small chance to show what he could do against NHL talent. Wonder if he's replacing Finley since the waiver claim
  3. i wouldnt say that but its thin. its not as if finley was a skilled defenseman but he was a pillar of stability in a way with his hulking size and intimidation. beyond the 2 you mentioned theres the rookies pysyk + JGL then nick crawford, drew schiestal and matt mackenzie
  4. they have been carrying 3 healthy extra defenseman all year so yeah they have enough bodies
  5. Amerks Defense gets smaller real quick with no backend physical presence now Pardy Pardy!!
  6. speaking of the islanders they just claimed joe finley
  7. awe ###### really? that sucks i liked his punch you in the face presence
  8. I'm not sure if anyone was at the game Saturday or watched in on TWC but i saw a play that made me sick... The game was chippy already, cheap shots going both ways.. In the Third period i believe, Evan Rankin gets violently crushed from behind, face first into the glass and is down on the ice. i'm waiting for someone to jump the guy like brennan did earlier for girgs, and yet nothing. Luke adam who was no more than a few feet away, stood there looked down at his feet and the crunch player skated away untouched and unchallenged and rankin is down on the ice visibly hurting. i've watched Adam do this multiple times when confronted. i guess he is a 6'1" pillow, he wouldnt even hit him with his purse. i like adam and alot of players that people may be down on. i give players too many chances but stuff like this makes me crazy. defend your teammate. your team. yourself. do something.
  9. he played 11 games paired with joe finley or mcnabb most the time averaging 10-13 mins a game i wouldnt be freaking out saying he played 11 games and did nothing clearly he sucks. and he has played 3 seasons in the A. this being his 4th. just saying
  10. Talent Analysis Pysyk’s greatest strength is his ability to skate with the puck and make smart plays with it. Pysyk is not flashy, but he routinely makes excellent first passes and possesses a high hockey IQ. Even though Pysyk leans towards the more offensive side of the game, he does not have a good enough shot to quarterback the first unit powerplay. -- hockeysfuture.com
  11. He hasnt just figured out how to beat them he has a laser of a shot that other players at his level do not possess. THIS is his 4th year, a year which if not for the lockout he may have been in the NHL from the start. His defensive game has been something he has worked on and improved on in the past year. i wouldnt say its necessarily held him back from the nhl but its been his weakness for sure. i think his 11 game debut last year was a very cautious experience for him, i believe he was playing with Mcnabb or Finley for the most part and very limited minutes. so its not a very good sample of play to look at.
  12. Have you seen the rifle of a shot he has? he seems like a powerplay machine at the point which we need. i'd be furious if we traded him for a mystery draft pick that could turn into phillip gogulla or god knows who
  13. depends how our defense shakes out considering we have at least 3 spare defenceman right now myers leopold 1 ehrhoff sulzer 2 Sekera Regehr 3 Brennan Weber X Pardy X Then you look at McNabb Pysyk beyond that its thin but god help us if we need beyond this. thats 11 defenceman right there
  14. must be amateur hour... talking like you know all these players personalities from watching them play and post game interviews. As if you know that 90% of our roster just doesn't care. You've hand selected the players that you feel have no "passion" These guys spend their whole lives doing what they do and you think they're just coasting around not caring or something. and grigorenko would be kept here to play on the 4th line with kaleta and scott?? no, he is a skill finesse scoring forward. and he's 18. hes scoring two points a game in the Q. you play him with scoring forwards to see if he can compete at this level, if not he goes back to junior. you dont let him rot doing nothing but watching scott pummel someone and kaleta run someone through the boards. and finally i'm sorry but there is ZERO chance of hecht being sent to AHL. ellis or mccormick way before hecht ever goes there.
  15. because you no longer are playing him 1st line mins. you're playing him third or forth line mins and helping out PK. in a reduced role he can be effective. he was never someone who was supposed to score 30-40 goals. in half a season i think if he plays 3rd/4th line and pk and chips in 10-15 goals and 25 points thats a win. we need depth down the middle and we need leadership which he brings both. health is an issue but its also only 48 games.
  16. agreed. and once gerbe is back maybe hecht can even move to the 4th line between ellis and kaleta?
  17. i'm ok with that he did rock the C for what a month? and a A for most of his last years here
  18. he has been good but also still very young. but all over our prospect goalies need time to play in the A before they can be considered options for the big show.
  19. well hopefully when miller is done/gone ullmark/makarov/knapp/lieuwen will have developed into some sort of capable option along with enroth maybe being able to handle 30-40 games at that point if not more.
  20. sabres scratches in game 7 vs hurricanes. for what its worth T Connolly T Numminen A Peters J Novotny D Kalinin J Mckee H Tallinder T Vanek Healthy D Nathan Paetsch Jeff Jillison Toni Lydman Doug Janik Rory Fitzpatrick Brian Campbell this is just fun to look on all the old names
  21. so if were missing gerbe and mccormick to start...maybe grigoranko sticks for his 4 games and scott plays the first few games on the 4th line. assuming gerbs or cody can be back shortly after the first couple games we send grigs down to junior(unless he's tearing it up) and scott becomes a scratch until we need his "services" ?
  22. i hope flynn continues to progress. hes older (24?) than other prospects but still has time to grow into a potential call up at some point. i'm really wondering how this whole waiver process is going to work with the 5 or 6 guys that have to clear again. Edit: Actually dont we have to resign all those guys too? leggio mancari schiestal porter finley?
