I like the Preds jersey's. Is there a mock up for this third jersey anywhere?

GAME DISCUSSION THREAD GDT: Buffalo at Toronto (2/21/2013, 7:00pm)

Yes. I meant he has not been a liability. He has not been an offensive force, but nothing he has done has put him in the press conference as a punishment. He is there to learn - although I dont see how 3 games in a row helps him -
I dunno, I stand by my point that I want some vets in the top 6. People already want to get rid of Stafford (who I would trade before Vanek), so that would give us a top 6 of something like (ROR, Pommers, Coho, Ennis, Foligno, Armia) - that is too young in my mind. Youth needs direction and leadership i think
-
The sabres can barely score as it is. Trading their leading scorer would be a big move. Especially as he isn't that old Also, does anyone else think Vanek's voice doesn't fit his body? it always takes me by surprise
-
So is there any information about Leopold? Or is it just speculation?
-
He said 'he' made the decision yesterday. Ruff ran practice that morning - clearly it has not been planned for long. People might say that he should have thought about it for years etc. but that is irrelevant. He ultimately had from the morning skate to the bus leaving to decide on a replacement - not to mention half the decent coaches will be invovled in other organisations, so will be unavailable until the summer

Zaggers never touched NHL ice. Grigo already has 15 games and hasn't looked out of place -
Mike Harrington @BNHarrington Let's just say I'm more than a wee bit suspicious of Leopold's "upper-body"..... He skated fine Tuesday AM. Gotta be deal coming.#Sabres

TBH, I think DR will be judged by what he does up to and on the trade deadline and not by his 'choice' of Rolston. It isn't like he had time to properly pick a new coach, he had at most 5 hours to pick the new one, that meant it was going to be someone from inside the organisation, who they knew at least a little. So i see no reason to judge how Rolston does and blame/praise DR for it. However, i would expect DR to be active at the deadline and either trade off a load of useless players, make a big splash (ROR style), or if we go on some amazing run, trade for the final piece of the puzzle

Yeah but it seems wasteful to have the guy up here and not do anything with him. What has Gerbe done to be in over Grigo? Hecht you could argue we need for his defence, but Gerbe has done literally nothing this season. I'm not saying Grigo should be top line like others, but I think having him sit for long stretches (e.g. a week) is really pointless. Let him play -
That is a theory this board came up with based off TP telling his daughter how he loved Ehrhoff's shot and said we have to get him. People took that to mean he forced DR

When asked what he saw of the tapes of the Sabres, he said the players take a lot of shortcuts and like to rest during their shifts. Maybe the laziness will finally leave their legs -

Jeff Russo @JeffRussoWKBW #Sabres Rolston says no Leopold no Grigorenko tonight Is grigo doing something to piss the coaches off? Third straight healthy scratch for the 18 year old...If he isn't going to play, why not send him to juniors -
I thought it was that very team gives permission in the off-season, and sometimes you get permission during the season (e.g. Burke), but usually it is accepted that the management stay with the team for the season. 12 of our next 17 are on the road. We have not had a good road record in some time - trial by fire for RR

How dare you put Lord Foligno on the 4th line. Apologise at once. Depressed? Maybe he knows he will get less ice time -
Who would you sit for Brennan? Or whose minutes would you cut down? Brennan has done nothing this season - even on the PP, which is meant to be his bread an butter. I don't want a top 6 that has 4 players 23 or below (Armia, Coho, Ennis and Foligno)
-
My guestimates. Generally from looking at last few seasons and seeing what they put up and in some cases (e.g. Foligno, Coho) making them up for what I think they should get based on being a rookie and sophomore
-
Player - Expected 82 game pointage - On track for (if this were 82 games) Vanek - 70 - 128 Coho - 50-60 - 72 Pommer - 70 - 72 Foligno - 40 - 39 Ennis - 60 - 63 Stafford - 50-60 - 34 Ott - 35 - 34 Grigo - 35-40 - 17 Hecht - 25-30 - 24 Leino - 40-45 - 0 Gerbe - 40 - 13 Scott - 2 - 0 Ellis - 10 - 0 Mccormick - 10-15 - 0 Kaleta - 15 - 0 So looking at the forwards I see that our top 4 are on track for their expectations. Foligno is also doing fine for his rookie year. Stafford is a real problem and is only at about 60% of what he should be. Ott is pretty much on track and leads the NHL in hits. Hecht is doing fine really, maybe a little disappointing but he isn't here for his offense. Leino has been a big disappointment this season and needs to improve his performance on the ice. Gerbe is also a real problem - the guy has never played more than about 63 games, but he is has always been roughly a 40 point-pace player. He is very underwhelming this season. Grigo is also a little slow, but I think that most rookies probably are for their first 25ish games, so I'm not too worried about him. Also our 4th line has been disappointing, by now I would have expected 3-4 goals by them and we have 0. These stats tell me that the worst offenders are stafford, gerbe, 4th liners (particularly Kaleta - even though he has been good at the rest of his game e.g. PK, drawing penalties etc.) and ###### Leino. Generally I think our bottom 6 is the issue, I would want Foligno down on the third line with Ott and the 4th line to have more identity. Ehrhoff - 45-50 - 51 Myers - 35-45 - 16 Sekera - 20 - 20 Sulzer - 20? (this guy is hard to predict - 22 Leopold - 25-30 - 20 Regehr - 15-20 - 8 Weber - 10 - 15 This defence tells me a couple of things; firstly, unsurprisingly, Myers is a huge problem this year, he is batting at 40ish% what he should be. Regehr is also a little low on what I would like, but it isn't the end of the world. Considering we are meant to have a defence that jumps into plays, we clearly lack the talent for that style, I would like another guy who could put up 30+ points instead of Sulzer/Leopold. This way we would have a 45, 35, 30, 20 top 4 and a 15, 10 defensive bottom pair and a 7th man who could put up 20 if he played all 82 points In total, I think this 21 man squad (23 with the goalies) over 82 games (if they all played 82 games, which is impossible) should put up 680-750 points. They are on track for 648 points (take out Vanek and we should put up 610 points minimum but we are on track for 520)

Will we still think this is the right move if the Sabres improve but only make it to 9th spot? If we don't make it to the playoffs and we get another midlevel pick, it will ultimately mean it was pointless to fire Lindy, when they could have let him walk in the summer and become a better hockey club

Wouldn't it be hilarious if we rehired him over the summer -
Guess they took the Rolston news badly

I will miss the guy. It was his coaching that ultimately made me a sabres fan. So thank you Lindy. I hope he goes on to have a great career
