Grigo Average TOI Under Ruff: 11:28 Grigo Average TOI Under Rolston 7:14 58% more ice time under Ruff I think I preferred the team under TG... Relies on Amerks making it to at least the second round Relies on Amerks making it to at least the second round

He can't play in the AHL for another 15 months. I think the issue is more - why didn't he get NHL time? RR really screwed the guy. I agree 20mins in the Q is better than 5 in the NHL. But why didn't he get 10 in the NHL
-
Why can't the team he is traded to just send him down? Also talk about overpayment for Ryan!
-
Yup

I guess the press conference can shed more light on this? I'm not sure what the point of this is. I get why this timing. But why not earlier? If the last few games were a test, maybe give him more than 5 minutes

He never did get to the 23 games mark - no coincidence they did this now

What is the best return we could get for trading Tyler Myers?

I think it is quite comparable - they traded him in his third season, when he was 23. He is tall and a bit of a disappointment (mainly because he was a first overall pick though). Myers has ever so slightly better stats over the first 3 years. I would be careful to make a big decision like Myers, based on this season. He probably came in quite out of shape, having just got back from an ankle injury. And this season has been a bit unusual all round. EJ, McClement (solid defensive 3rd line C) and a first was traded for Stewart (23yo who had put up 60+ points before), Shattenkirk (22yo rookie playing very very well) and a second It is worth noting the Blues had drafted Peterangelo by that point I think it would be similar to this kind of trade: Myers, Porter, 3rd for Voynov, Bernier, 1st -

Same thing was true with Pronger. Maybe it is the switching teams, or maybe it was the player maturing and being expected to do too much too young - no way to really know. But i'd roll the dice on maturity (personally) And yes i was being sarcastic :P my favourite player of all time is Lidstrom and I don't hold toughness to the same ethereal standard others do around here -
I would give him PP time - a perfect chance for him to have fun playing with skilled players and not needing to worry about defence. Also our PP is last in the league by a considerable margin, so i see no harm in trying it I know! The .8ppg players are the worst!

I agree, every Norris trophy winner of the past decade and shown toughness, leadership and puts anything that moves through the boards. That is absolutely what every elite defenseman does. The better the defenceman the more hospitalised the opponent -
One more I think

I like it. I like the fact they are teaching him to be defensively responsible. Once he has found his feet and sound defensively think how good he will be. He will be a force to be reckoned with instantly. When I walk my dog to the park I have her on a leash to keep her under control and make sure she learns what i want of her; then when we are at the park, i take the lead off and she thunders off, but I don't need to worry about the roads around the park or her chasing other animals because she has been trained. Rather than letting his potential go all over the place they are focusing, controlling and directing it - i'm sure there is a comic book reference in here as well

The fact NHL players stopped playing the AHL probably. I doubt CoHo, Foligno and Brennan were hurting the team in anyway

He is 18, Flynn is 24. 6 years is a big gap. Grigo is the youngest player in the NHL this season. Some guys will be more ready than others, nothing more to say really. It doesn't help that he always plays on the fourth line - he has made some nice plays, but often the talent is not there to do much with it. He has played 20ish games in the NHL - i'm not ready to call him a bust yet. Stamkos had about 5 points in his first 20 games - was he a bust? Let him find his feet - he has the skill to be a 2 way centre. He is benched ever time he gives the puck away, this teaches him defence but will also limit his offence and creativity until he is defensively sound - most young guys have a longer lead
-
I'm still confused at this blow up idea Armia, Grigo, Ennis, Coho, Foligno, McNabb, Pysyk, Myers, Tropp (and maybe even our first this year) will all probably have a roster spot next year, which would mean we have 8/9 guys around the 23 and under mark. That is almost half a roster of young guys. We need vets around to help them. If we get too much younger the sabres will need to employ a nanny
-
I think part of his slow skating his he is not used to the speed of the game and I think he is defensively conscious enough that he doesn't want to be out of position by charging for a puck - he seems to be looking around a lot when on the ice. Myers is unlikely to be traded unless they get a lot for him. He has only been bad this season and he is looking better. I don't think you make major moves based on players individual performance this season.
-
I'm presuming this is a joke? Our special teams have sucked most of the time for the last 5 years.
-
We are near bottom of the league, might as well bring up the young guys and watch them fail? We have a good young set of guys why ruin them?
-
Foligno had 1 goal through 25 games and Brennan made Myers look like the reigning Norris. I'd rather keep Vanek and Pominville and at least occasionally win
-
I think all 30 teams have an eye on him. I just don't think Buffalo can attract stars unless we overpay by a lot. I also really hope Perry gets less than 8.7. He really isn't that good - he is upper echelon but not Malkin/Crosby
-
The core are the only ones who are performing, for the most part, I want to get a new bottom 6 look. Anyway, since Rolston has come in, the AHL guys have looked good, but our real forwards have looked worse. HPV has 4 goals in 10 games under him, compared to 15 in 17 under Ruff. Ehrhoff has 1 point under Rolston compared to 10 under Ruff etc.
-
Since Ron Rolston was coach?
-
How did you come across this information?
-
I'd bet he'd trade the $100,000 to not have to sit in a shower for an hour with no lights on. Not to mention the mental side effects (e.g. depression)

One thought. We lost our last two stars for nothing. Now we are hearing rumours of either them wanting out or us not wanting them. This speaks to a toxic environment in Buffalo. If we lose/trade our current stars it just isn't a good sign in my mind. (For one, it means we're looking at a proper rebuild, even though we have a lot of young guys anyway)
