GDT - Sabres @ Seattle - 10:00 PM EDT
Randall Flagg replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
So many of these guys have one solid hockey asset which gives them these brief windows where really pretty NHL plays have a chance of getting made. But they are either lacking in the foot speed, hands, or hockey sense to make it happen, and the windows close. I guess it's a positive that the windows are there, because that certainly wasn't true in the doldrums of last year. But we are certainly looking like a team that will experience winter doldrums once again -

Dahlin is not a forward What forwards did that last year in any sort of realistic fashion? Mitts and who else? Olofsson is most likely to save us from this fate, and I'm fairly confident in Mitts as well. But I don't recall any team ever setting itself up to have no forwards you can put easy money on scoring half a point per game, with no slam dunk forward prospects. There's a small chance this team needs to build an entire top 9 from pieces it doesn't have yet I happen to believe in Casey and Dylan and JJP, but any of them struggling/flaming out is farrrrr from inconceivable Sabres are in an ugly and dangerous spot and there will be many bleak winter nights in which we grapple with this possibility. I've only ever seen fewer "sure things" on one team, the most disgraceful team in sabres history There are no in-their-prime reliable offensive forwards on this team or in this prospect pool or anywhere else attached to the name "Buffalo Sabres", this is more or less unheard of Hoping that Casey and co. can step up because boy do we need them to -

There is a chance the Sabres have no forwards in any level of the organization who will ever (or ever again) be capable of scoring 40 points in an NHL season. It's not likely that this is the case, but possibility is non-trivial. A very dangerous place to put yourself in even if you like the kids. Franchise-wrecking potential, especially on the heels of the last 10 yrs Rare and dangerous grounds, which you'd think would call for vigorous push for stability in net at the very least. Not good feelings heading into puck drop -
We don't need the piece Thorny wants for this year. We probably need it in the organization by October 2022. There are a lot of ways we could go about getting it from this point. Drysdale is worth getting if the best available center prospect otherwise is worse than Kravtsov. He, and other pieces in our organization, have the potential to make this team good or to help bring in that piece
-
I'm steaming over the fact that apparently Krebs isn't on table? Why the ***** do you think you can get eichel with pieces we already have 30 of
-
If Krebs isn't available, Vegas' number should be permanently blocked. If no centers like Krebs are available, and drysdale is, you could turn Drysdale into a Krebs level prospect fairly easily at some point in the future, or keep him because he's sick. If the best piece we can get for Jack is really truly Comtois or Perreault-like prospect, you go down with the ship in epic defiance, flipping off everyone along the way, and keep Jack indefinitely, and see what happens. You can get that ***** at deadline deals for mediocre players for chrissake.

Not convinced this is the right move. He had some plays that clearly showed what he'll look like when he's NHL ready, but overall I think he struggled a bit and could use more time in Rochester. As always, give him training camp and preseason to see if he's made the leap
-
"Played in the Stanley cup finals " He was also scratched in the Stanley cup finals no? I've now seen a lot of these guys play and I am sticking with my gut on kotka, who I have watched plenty of. I am not interested in adding him at all
-
I have zero interest in Kotkaniemi. None. Need center prospect to be better
-
That's really funny. What did you say to me, you little sh*t?
-
Bro. I literally heard this same jack eichel story years ago. The huh? Huh? Huh? Thing. Either Jack likes to pull this with fans or it's an updated copypasta lol
-
I like the idea of georgiev in general but that trade is so bad
-
Reaves used to play decent hockey along with his "enforcer" stuff not too long ago. not sure if he still does what was his cap hit?
-
He melted down at 1pm on draft day and said we weren't going to do anything all summer, because we hadn't done anything yet. Within a few hours Risto and Reinhart were gone
-
Players understand that you can't just trade Jack for whatever ***** is being offered. They can be patient, and it won't derail the legitimacy of the regime. Only continued losing can do that. They know Jack will end up being traded and they'll love playing with the results of the trade. Colorado keeping a malcontent into the season in Duchene didn't exactly hurt their young kids...
-
A team like Vegas can pretend to be indifferent, and pretend they have leverage. The longer the summer goes, the longer they spend staring at that center spine and watching playoff footage from last year, as Kevyn sets his sights on training camp with a shrug...
-
Saying all the right things on Eichel, which confirms for me that he's handling this trade right
-
everybody panic AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
-
They will be. The only reason they're not is because they saw what Terry and Jason did in the ROR deal, and they think they're backing Kevyn into the corner. When the time comes, they'll pay up the prospect. Kevyn is handling this as well as he can right now. Do we really think that Foley is okay with the fact that they'll be, once again, one playoff injury away from having 3 fourth line centers?

AZ wants to tank. What would it take to get Dvorak? Could the Florida first and a prospect do it?
