I'm glad he is capable of calling other GMs about theoretically addressing his team's needs
-
Gotta be Tucker
-
He was talking to fans who asked about Bryson in particular? That's pretty cool. I might buy in just to go to this thing. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks friend hope things are well with you. I had to go to the store to pick up some milk

What makes me think he won't address them - i don't believe it yet but I worry about it, and Stillman and Greenway are more Botterill-lane moves than what the team actually needed to be shoring up their wild card spot right now. The sample size of moves geared toward finishing a real roster are still small and a little weird with Kevyn 3 years in My issues amount to- Yeah that's basically it. They're advertising tickets now, I want to buy now, I need to hear a commitment before I drive out to Buffalo from 1.5 hours away 20 times next year I think he has done a good enough job that things won't completely fall apart even if he sits out the entire summer waiting for "the right kind of player" But punch touches on some things that could be in the beginning stages of festering, and at this point I like to think I have a pretty good nose for that sort of thing. Kevyn has a flamethrower loaded up and ready to blast away the rot from the past for good, I don't want him to set it back down and look the other way for 12 more months
-
I'm hard on Kevyn because I believe he can make this franchise great Now, too
-
Kevyn doesn't have a super secret plan, we aren't asking about the players he's interested in I have a message draft saved, ready to tell my buddy that I'm in on seasons, kevyn can make me push it, I want to push it
-
Oh I definitely don't care about his height. I just think Zamboni is too pedantic
-
The goalie to skater distinction is INCREDIBLY relevant to the discussion. If you are the shortest goalie in the league, but league average compared to forwards, calling you "league average height" is either pointless or misleading if your goal is having a discussion or conveying information For the bold, we are just talking, you don't need to constantly add this stuff
-
Saying it another way, I think there is a spectrum of focusing solely on the future, to going all-in today. I don't think Kevyn is saying the same thing as me, I think that I want him to be at the center point of "next season matters, a LOT, and we also cannot meaningfully dent our prospect pool with a realistically good offseason, so go have one" But he's way to the left and cautioning as if going that far to the right is the same thing as going far to the right of the center point, and throwing it all away. Nothing about how he handled this current season, or speaks about next season, relative to how he spoke this year, tells me he's where he should he on the spectrum Next year is as critical a year for the Sabres as it is for the Bills
-
I mean, in absolute terms sure. I don't have the cutrent data but I just looked at an article which tracked all the starting goalies during a year the Sabres had Hutton (2018?), and Levi would be the shortest starting goalie in the NHL that year. So it is correct to say that he is like a Tyler Ennis for his position, bottom end of the bell curve.

His first two seasons were full of the same language, and he was happy to let holes be filled by unproven young guys learning on the job. We head into next year and he's never said anything different, and in this blurb of summary points (which i acknowledge would not represent EVERYTHING kevyn said) he is continuing to talk about the next wave of those players, emphasizing them as the focus or next order of business. He has had the same response about adding vets for 3 years and has Tuch (unique situation) and Lybushkin to show for it. The rate at which Kevyn has added *meaning* to our roster through three offseasons and TDLs is incredibly slow and he has given no inclination it will speed up, but we need it to speed up to the tune of 4, maybe 5 roster spots including goal ie his "very caluclated" is actually a mile from where I would like him to be based on his history. And his immediate, emphatic pushback at the slightest suggestion of acceleration, coupled with his and Donny's comments at the TDL about our competition, have me annoyed and impatient I need him to tell me that a switch has been flipped, not hear the same thing I heard when Ruotsalainen was hot after the losing streak in 2021 The franchise is knocking at a brand new door. Talk like it
-
His constant emphasis on "3-5 years down the line" and being careful not to jeopardize this is so bizarre. There is an ocean of middle ground between "right now matters" and "sign four 32 year old free agents to 5+ year deals as well as trading away half the (massive, far too large to keep a bunch of them in the organization into their prime years) prospect pool for the same type of guy" It would take outlandish general-managing, stuff you just don't see in the real world, to make the 2023 summer "dangeous" to the "future" Tell me next year matters Kevyn. You might get a new STHer. Tell me it's playoffs or bust, and you will make the obvious moves to ensure that happens.

This is silly. If Levi flops just find another goalie

Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?

You must face it and overcome it or you will never have an original thought again -
I started using Brawndo-pattern capitalization at work a few months ago. I have received 2 raises and a promotion

No I tried and get too distracted, miss important information I really don't mind driving in silence. It is disturbing to me that most people I know need to constantly pepper themselves with music, podcasts etc. at any hint of downtime. I find that I start to lose myself if others' words are the only things in my head -

I would say 70% of my commute time is quiet. 20% is GR and 10% is music written before 1900 -
He's missed 19 in a row I read

I don't notice this, who are you guys talking about

I call 'em sometimes. -
For some reason that one really stuck in my craw
-
Should have 2 praccys by the time we play next
-
Thank god you came in for some BALANCE and MIDDLE GROUND, just in time
-
Stay calm, people - the Bruins and Lightning will be bad in just a couple more years. Kevyn and Donny both told me so.
