I don't see how doing that makes the lives and experiences of LGBT athletes better. Generating positive discussion when Andrew Shaw says what he said on the ice? Sure. But doing what they did looks petty and dumb to a lot of people who are 1000% on board the idea of making the lives of LGBT people in this country better, much less people who they'd want to "convert" to feeling that way - I can't imagine something more unproductive towards that goal.

Yeah, the things I thought I noticed aren't really quantifiable. (They're the things that happened last year and were missed by his very good metrics last year as well). But I'm not super worried yet, because of how ridiculous MTL/NYR are at skating. Pominville isn't the only guy to screw up gaps and lag behind the play tonight. Just something I'm going to look out for as the season marches forward. I don't think we have a RW that I really want replacing him in that spot unfortunately so I'm hoping he remains spry (though he can ease off that 3rd place in ES points per 60 in the entire league and still be okay haha, holy smokes) Sheary is coming alive again, Okie continues to churn along, and Mitts is as confident as ever. Hire dark to analyze our prospects and make decisive movements on what to do with them, because he's nailed Casey. Hopefully this is the middle six coming together and doing what we need them to do. And keep that 4th line together forever. Chewing up time on the boards in the o-zone with those guys is so valuable.

Fer sher. Just saw a tweet that Risto is first in franchise history in OT goals from a defenseman. (Yeah, OT stats deserve asterisks now that 3v3 is a thing)

I thought he had a lot of trouble with positioning in both zones, struggling with the speed of the play. It's a very real possibility that the things I saw were because we played two of the speediest forward groups in the league in those two games though. I'd not be willing to take him off the line just yet, I'm just praying his legs stay under him as long as possible.

What's crazy about the OT play is that it's identical to Risto and Sam being caught down low against Calgary. But ERod was better at defending than Jack and MTL missed the net.

And in things to look out for: IMO, that's two bad games for Pommers in a row now.

And I'm not worried about the sloppiness of the game - the Sabres are not a super clean defensive team, but they're middle of the pack, and Montreal is going to expose lots of teams with that skating speed. It's nice to get 4 points from them this early in the season. That game was crazy, it had the Leopold 30 second scrum goal!
