Yeah, Allen has a high bust factor, but his ceiling blows Trubisky's out of the water, and I think that's what we'd like Allen to be

The Krueger Crux? "Not thinking out there"
Randall Flagg replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
I have read things about Krueger's power play setup - I wonder if he'll be in charge of that here, and I'm interested to see it if so. -
Came thisclose to buying a plane ticket to Buffalo for the home opener. The price on the ticket rose twice while deliberating, and put me over what I was comfortable paying. Damn. If I had had this idea a few weeks ago it would have happened.

This Bears defense is something.

Warming up to a Risto-based trade for Laine as long as the add isn't anything more than a prospect I don't really care about and a pick that's not in the 1st round Yeah, I know that won't do it probably
-
Definitely watching now if I wasn't before.

Anything else where that came from? remember, it's in your sabrespace contract to divulge
-
Where'd that come from Brawndo?

Truth be told, my reservation in the idea of trading for Laine is not because I don't think he can resolve his current issues, but because at his likely cost, I need to get a player that simply doesn't have those issues. But if we did acquire him... how is our second line not Johansson - Reinhart - Laine? Have Laine on his off wing if you want Johansson playing center maybe. If those guys can cover his tendency to be a black hole, while also using his ability to shoot the puck....that's two dangerous hockey lines, with Olofsson and Mitts licking their lips behind them. Johansson is known for his transition, Reinhart for his ability to find his linemates and be where he's supposed to, and Laine for putting pucks in the net when his teammates put them on his stick.

Highest Scoring Defensemen in 2019-20
Randall Flagg replied to Randall Flagg's topic in The Aud Club
This doesn't fully answer your question, but here is how he describes what went into those projections: My projections are built using the last three seasons of each player’s career on a per-minute basis, weighted by recency using a multi-variate regression, regressed to the mean based on sample size, and age adjusted. To account for the sudden increase in scoring two seasons ago, point projections were also adjusted to last season’s goals-per-game level. Those per-minute projections for each stat are then applied to a time-on-ice projection based on each player’s ice-time last season, adjusted for their likely place on the depth chart this season. That means that a player moving from the second line to the first line would see a bump in ice-time equal to the difference between a first and second line player. The adjustments were based on expected depth charts that were derived from conversations with a beat writer from each team. This year I’ve introduced future projections, up until 2025 in the dynasty package. How this is accomplished is through an age curve applied to time-on-ice, goals, assists and shots in each subsequent season. Keep in mind that the farther into the future a projection goes, the larger the margin of error is. So it appears he doesn't take into account the fact that Tyson is now behind Toronto's forwards rather than Colorado's, just that he might get more ice time. -
I couldn't fathom actively wanting to watch Laine skate 1200 ES minutes for this team in place of Reinhart for him to move Jack to the other side of the power play and add a few extra meaningless ginos after we were blitzed the entire game at ES before that power play happened and are now down 5-1

Highest Scoring Defensemen in 2019-20
Randall Flagg replied to Randall Flagg's topic in The Aud Club
From what I've seen, Barrie is pretty useless there, and Rielly took steps last year. So yes, that's my take. I'm excited to see Tyson more this year since he's in the east, and I'm happy to eat crow in this thread if things don't turn out the way I expected. Because I want the Leafs to suk -
Right right right I had to install some weird chrome attachment and then type in a link provided to me by a poster on hf haha. It's all coming back

If you account for games played, I'm pretty sure Matthews enters his own tier of goal scoring that only Ovechkin has passed in quite a while as far as youngsters go. Reinhart for Laine would make the Sabres chances for a winning record worse, unless Laine's even strength play grows leaps and bounds this offseason.

Highest Scoring Defensemen in 2019-20

The guy named Dom with the long last name just used a model of his to predict defensemen point totals for next year, these were his results: -

The Krueger Crux? "Not thinking out there"
Randall Flagg replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
The crazy thing is that the bold is actually feasible - my dad had me on the log-splitter before my memories begin (they go back to when I was 5 at this point) down in Cuba, NY, a place I know you're familiar with, at a cabin that had many visitors/family friends whose faces/names I would now not recognize/remember -

Also I hope dudacek and triumph understand that I'm just slipping back into a character flaw with how deep I'm going into this and how nit-picky it is, and I think you guys have good points. -
Would you trade every Sabre prospect for an elite #2 center?
Randall Flagg replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
I'd trade Cozens and Risto and another fairly valuable piece (a first rounder?) to get an elite 2C. I'd think of it as sacrificing defensive depth, and another lotto ticket that I plan on making in the 20s or 30s, to GUARANTEE that Cozens hits his ceiling but RIGHT NOW. -
Damn, we get to watch hockey tomorrow. Will one of those funky streams be available like last year?

Couturier is better than more than 90% of the guys that fans would call 1Cs -
The Krueger Crux? "Not thinking out there"

In what ways were Yakupov's weaknesses hidden? Can you get into details here? Was it just the fact that he was probably heavily sheltered? Is it really unique that a volatile rookie is sheltered in an offensive role? Is Phil thus a genius for giving Mittelstadt a higher percentage of offensive zone starts than like any other skater in the NHL? The year after Krueger, Nail's power play time dropped from 17% of his total ice time to 15% of his total ice time. Is this statistically meaningful, indicative of what would be the fall of a player that Ralph had set up to be something someday? I don't see it. What was different about the makeup and strategy of this power play time under Ralph vs the next guy, that put Nail in a box and slowly led to him withering away in a way that wouldn't have happened otherwise? Did Ralph key into something that every other coach who had him, plenty with better track records, just somehow missed, failed to pick up on themselves? I just can't get excited about a young player having a good season under Ralph Krueger. That ***** happens on every team ever, and there's nothing there to grasp on to indicate that Ralph somehow had something special that will carry over and affect us differently than if it was another coach. It reads far more like the list of vague good stuff you can come up with for literally any head coach hire ever, which is fine, but not a compelling narrative. -
I wonder what Dahlin's version of the ice cream freezer was

Listen, I want McBeane to put a little more emphasis on talent as much as the next guy, but I am unabashedly thrilled that we did not acquire AB.
