  1. I wouldn’t have taken Leinonen there especially with the talent that was still on the board. 16 players including 6 RHD and two highly rated forwards went between picks 41 and 58 when the next goalie was selected. I have reason to believe that there was not a complete consensus on picking Him at 41 and that the analytics staff had a higher grade on someone else. I love the draft, I’m just not a fan of this particular pick
  2. Dreger mentioned until Montreal has a clearer picture of Price’s Health, Allen is probably not on the market
  3. Faber being Minnesota’s Captain next season probably helps Him stay another season
  4. In the past ten drafts the Sabres have selected 5 goalies, the first two are no longer Sabres Property, Another can be an UFA a next Summer, The other is UPL and finally Leinonen. It’s not enough The lack of a quality NHL Started on the roster shows the need to draft a goalie every year to have prospects in every stage of development from CHL/European Leagues to the ECHL to the AHL and possibly the NHL.
  5. Obviously we cannot accurately assess who is the better player until Johnson is in the NHL, but My Concern with Joki is He has made His Defensive Partner Metrics worse including Power(although that’s a very small sample size).
  6. If Johnson is willing to attempt to play on the Right Side, which He has done at Minnesota, there is a pathway to Him becoming a Top 4 Defenseman in two years
  7. I’ll add that DeBrincat’s Qualifying Offer is 9 Million next July. Looking at what Fiala signed for, along with the Skinner and Panarin Deals, I doubt He is taking less than 9 Million, when He can accept His Offer and be an UFA in July 2024. That would possibly have the Sabres with 18 Million tied up in two wingers for 4 Seasons, with Dahlin, Tage, Cozens, Power also needing deals. Not ideal
  8. TBH If I was Kane I would sign one year deals with Contenders to try and win as many Cups as possible. If that brings Him to the Sabres someday, so be it
  9. No matter where they drafted, getting both Your Top Pairing Defenseman in the same draft is a great haul.
  10. I have to disagree with First Sentence. I have seen way too many trade proposals on this board and on Twitter where Asplund is moved for much worse players. Including one for Keegan Kolesar (because He is Bigger). Craig Rivet and Andrew Peters are not high on Him because he avoids contact at times. As You mentioned We certainly are in agreement about the value He brings
  11. With 4 Million in actual dollars remaining on the deal, I imagine they will take the full cap hit to increase the sweetner. I would offer their 2023 2nd back in exchange for their 2023 1st. Or ask for Florida’s 2024 1st which I use as potential trade chip. Place Him in position to succeed on the proper line, net front on PP2 and flip Him at the TDL with 50% retained if they are not in a Playoff Position
  12. Micah McCurdy’s Model backs Him as well. Andrew Copp and Mason Marchment are better but He is close to Heinen. Ultimately I do not see the Sabres going in this direction anyways From Friedman The Flyers have also been considering another move, although they could go in several directions. GM Chuck Fletcher wouldn’t say much about his plans for James van Riemsdyk, but anyone who scores 24 goals has real value. Philadelphia may have to attach a sweetener to do it, but $1M of his $5M cash salary will already be paid via a bonus. Arizona, Buffalo and Seattle have been linked to the winger.
  13. Brian Duff and Marty Biron were discussing UFAs that the Sabres could realistically target this week. Marty basically said stay the course, bring back the forward core and make some small additions. Duff took the opposite position and asked How they would bring back essentially the same group of forwards that finished 30 points out of a playoff spot, especially when Detroit and Ottawa look like they are ready to leapfrog the Sabres.
  14. This is a great idea. Was at the Program with Granato and might like the chance to play at Home.
  15. Granato’s Players from the USNTDP, all praised His Ability to put them into positions where they can succeed. Granato will have a pretty good idea if He can do the same with Milano. Adams plan certainly doesn’t include going after the any Big Name Free Agents. Second Tier Players such as Copp or Burakovsky should be realistic targets, but are they going to want to sign here? Adams is probably looking for players who will sign one to two year deals who are have a skill set, such as being good forecheckers, that would prevent Mitts and Olofsson from being hemmed in the defensive zone for Their Entire Shift. Signing Milano is an improvement over Hayden, Eakin and would allow them to waive Bjork and on the off chance Quinn or Peterka are not ready to make the jump to the Sabres in October, He provides insurance until they are.
  16. They tell the part of the story of How to probably deploy players and what roles they maybe better suited for. There is a segment of the Sabres Fanbase that believe Asplund is horrible, yet His Defensive Metrics are outstanding and He got Selke Votes, so I do not listen to those fans opinions either
  17. And He was at the USNTDP at the same time a certain HC was. His Analytics say otherwise. Players like Him and Danton Heinen are defensively responsible wingers who would be good support players for the Young Core
  18. Not sure what happened to the other thread but this is interesting Yes this is His Dad
