  1. It is early in the week. Lol. You know i think i truly am sick. Last night i went to bed anxiously awaiting some news in the morning. Woke up and immediately reached for my phone on the nightstand. My wife says " your already on your phone". Just checking for an important email dear.

Little did she know i tossed and turned all night because of two dudes named Rabi and Straw. Anyone want to join me in therapy?

Sure, I used the excuse "just checking work text messages honey" this morning

I just wish there was a "simulate to the trade deadline" button. I just want it to all end.

Can we also fast forward to June 26, 2015 as well?

  2. Interesting interview with Murray by Pierre Lebrun.

    Talks about potential trades.

Murray has also brought in his own scouting system, which was introduced to the scouting staff last week.

The day after I got hired, I wanted to bring in my own scouting system as far as Rinknet and rating system," Murray said. "We got that done about a week ago. Now our guys have to learn that and I know the numbers aren’t going to jive with my numbers right off the bat but I told them that we’re going to be talking numbers, 'If you told me you went to watch Pierre play last night, is he a five or a four-plus?' That’s going to be the lingo and the culture here. So it’s going to take them time to get on to the system, but I think that was important to get everyone on the same page right off the bat and let them run with it. Scouting is everything. Scouting is where it’s at. You can’t improve unless you evaluate well, whether it’s pro, whether it’s amateur, whether it’s staff, they say you’re not supposed to judge but that’s all we do."

You just get that feeling that the Sabres have hired well here.

  3. Convince the islanders to let us draft this year.

We take Reinhart/kapanen - bennet . resign ott + Moulson

2015 if we are lucky we take Mcdavid or eichel.

in 2016 we could have this line up, work your magic murray :P

    Moulson - Mcdavid - Reinhart/kapanen

    Bennet - Grigorenko - Girgensons

    Ennis - Hodgson- Foligno

    Ott - Larsonn - Flynn

    Erhoff - pysyk

    Ekblad myers - Mcnabb

    Zadorov - Risto

    x Mccabe

    Enroth

Hackett <--- don't think the kid will make it. Ullmark and makarov will be breathing down his neck soon.

btw have been looking up on bennet a bit, i wouldn't mind taking him over ekblad and reinhart.

then again i might even consider taking Kapanen over ekblad and reinhart if you want real speed on your wing.

Why do I get the feeling that either Crosby or Malkin will miss a significant amount of time with an injury next season causing the Penguins to finish in 14th place and out of the playoffs. And with their 0.5% chance they win the Mc David Sweepstakes.

  4. I get the impression that Tim Murray's strength is in player evaluation. Oster looks like a contract/CBA-oriented guy. Could be a good fit, and one that doesn't necessarily replace the functionality of Kevin Devine. There's no convenient list I was able to find, but I think a few teams have two AGM's, notably Boston (Jim Benning [player eval, trades, FAs] and Don Sweeney [player development]).

I think in keeping with the model of dumping money into the front office, there's no reason to drop Devine, unless it's a bad fit or an insurmountable personality or philosophy conflict.

    Sounds about right

  5. I still trade him. He's testing free agency no matter what at that point. Regardless of whether he's choosing between us or a contender as a FA, we might as well get a little return for taking that risk.

I would as well. If a second rounder is the best the Sabres can get, make it one in the 2015 Draft, which TM said was deeper.

Another option would be a conditional second rounder that becomes a first if Miller resigns.

  6. Devine was sitting in row one and Murray said his first job was to talk to Devine and get acquainted with the scouting department.

He also complimented the organization on the quality of its prospects.

I suppose the meeting could have been to put Kevin on notice, but I think it was more about "let's get down to work."

I could see the final decision on Kevin Devine's Future with the Sabres waiting until after the draft in June.
