Yea but a lot of people say draft one in the first each year until you find one, I'd be curious how often a team has draft a QB in the first or second round in back-to-back years. I can only think of a few rare examples. And some good franchises dont. Some teams who have franchise QBs will draft one in the second round every few years (how often has this even helped?). I'm not going to go through the teams today, but lots of teams didn't draft a QB for years before they had a franchise QB. It can be done both ways I could also argue a lot of playoff teams have spent a second rounder on a RB the past few years. Truth is, there a lot of ways to build a playoff team, there are a lot of different ways to address the QB spot successfully.

Yea but I disagree with the idea of just drafting QBs non-stop until you find one. A good QB would be amazing, but I think next year our best hope for average QB play comes from free agency or trade, not a second round rookie. And I'm still of the opinion the best thing you can do for a QB is give them a good line and run game
-
I'm not saying it needs 5 new starters, just needs to be priority #1 for improving during the off-season. I think it may need a little more than you think, but definitely do-able in one offseason. But that was also kind of my point, address it and then try to get the most impact early in the draft. DB, Dline, LB, WR, TE are all definite "no"s for me. QB if you think he might be a long term answer, I just don't think this is a good idea for next year. Oline if you think you still need a starter that you didn't get in free agency. Otherwise that just leaves RB. And with an improved, O-line and elite D, that should be pretty impactful. Look no further than seattle. Russell Wilson has been bottom 5 in yards a game for his entire career I believe (#29 in 2014, #29 in 2013, #29 in 2012). Best thing you can do for a QB is have a great D and run game and don't ask much. Dixon and Jackson are fine in complementary roles moving forward. Same with Brown. But it would be nice to have a feature back
-
Eh I disagree about dixon being a feature back in a power run game. If we keep our entire defense together, and add some depth late in the draft and free agency, then we have to figure out offense. We aren't going to get the answer to QB in round 2 (at least not for next year where playoffs are a must) so the answer must be the run game. I agree its 80% the o-line, but I think having a great feature back with a mid-second rounder isn't a bad idea. Maybe trade up into the early 3rd for one of there are several and use that second rounder on o-line. So it depends on the RB, but if someone of eddie lacy's skill set is expected ot go there then, then I wouldn't complain Orrrrrr, get Adrian Peterson in free agency! edit: I'm not saying not to try and get a QB, but that we need to fix the o-line for anything to matter. And finding a great RB in the second is a lot easier than a great QB. Again, depends on who is there, or else an early 3rd would be fine.

Agree 100% In my fantasy world: Invest in the o-line in free agency, and draft an ideal RB (A leveon Bell/Eddie Lacy type - if available) in the 2nd.
-
Instead of solvign the QB issue next year, I wouldn't mind revamping the o-line and just being a power run team lol

There are a ton of dick comments around here, but I don't think that was one of them?
-
I'm more worried about hackett/orton keeping their jobs
-
That sounds right
-
Packers are soft like the tampa bay lightning!!!
-
And Orton taking a sack It's a joke at this point between poor QB play and penalties
-
Legit penalties against the bills have been a big issue
-
Just play Manuel. Even if there is only a 5% chance he can do anything better. Orton has regressed to the point this offense would be more productive if it punted on 1st down
-
Both were 2009 draft picks who have played at a high level in the AHL, but haven't done much (for a number of reasons) in the NHL 5 years later.

Sabres are ruining Murray's plan---what does he do??

I think bringing in moulson, gionta, and gorges were definitely meant to improve the team, but it still looked like a god awful roster. It was still expected to finish near the bottom. And let's not pretend it's those three player carrying this team. With a game in hand we are 7 points from the bottom. It is the big jump in Ennis and Girgensons on offense, and big jumps from Myers, Zadorov, and Ristolainen on defense. Stafford has had a big increase as well, and both our goalies have been fantastic. All that is a good thing though -

Silly or not it is something he has to handle. I think we all assumed the obvious rebuild route was a bottom 2 finish this year, I think GMTM thought the same. It will be interesting to see if he forces it or let's the team go in a natural direction (up or down). Truth is probably in the middle. There are gonna be trades for sure, and with some key prospects no longer waiver exempt next year, call-ups wouldn't surprise me either -

I think lost in all this sometimes, is ennis and girgensons have established themselves as top 6 forwards, and zadorov and ristolainen are establishing themselves as top 4 defensemen. That is young nucleus experiencing a lot of success. A big part of me just wants to see grigorenko and armia up to help in the top 6 (I still think we only have 3 legit top 6 forwards on this team, i dont think the gionta-mitchell-flynn line counts haha) get rid of stewart, hodgson, and kaleta. And ice a deslauriers - Schaller/Larsson - Foligno line and ice a stafford-grigorenko-armia line (hey i can dream) -

I'v only seen like 4 panthers games this year, but they are amazingly boring every time. Maybe they are in a hockey market, who knows? I can't blame their fans for not watching this crap -

I think strachen will miss at most 2 more games so we have enough bodies till then (I wish we'd see pysyk but I doubt a call up) The "Messy Benoit" pair is back baby -
There are some weird things going on in this forum with there being a tank side and non tank side and a bunch of goofiness. Following this team does weird things to people :w00t: This is like soldiers who still think the war in Vietnam is going on, except that there was no war, and there are no soldiers

let's also remember mcnabb is 3 years older than mccabe and 2 years older than pysyk.
