Murray thinks Lehner is the better goaltender. We actually know that because he was the first goalie traded (unlike with Darcy). If Murray wanted lack, he'd have Lack... Lehner has a much much higher ceiling

I'm just shocked they couldnt get more from a western conference team. Perhaps it was common knowledge bruins couldn't match a 7mil offer, and that teams were only willing to part slightly above what offer-sheet compensation was.

I think lehner coming back to bite Ottawa is more likely than that #21 prospect coming back to bite us :beer:

The one cool thing everyone should agree on is that this clearly shows we plan to compete next year. Instead of waiting 3-4 years for late 1st round prospect to develop we went and got a starting goalie. I still think the value is off, but still interesting.

Lehner's value is faaaaaar closer to #21 than Vasilevski is.

My last post on this for a bit: I don't like the value and think it was an overpayment. However if he becomes a top goalie then it was a great trade. That simple

If he becomes a top 5 goalie it is a great trade. It's the 21st pick, let's stop the dramatic overreactions Schneider who obviously was borderline top 5 goalie at the time got a top 10 pick and everyone thought it was a great trade. This is mid/later 1st rounder based purely on potential

I'm agreeing that this was an awful trade value wise and makes me highly question GMTM, but at least we have a goalie now that has a ton of potential and could be the guy for the next 10 years.
