I agree that Risto's coverage on here is mostly good, but your arguments to the contrary have been flawed. The +/- issue has been discussed to death, yet you keep bringing it up. Risto's quality of competition is incredibly talented while his regular defense partner is/has been a 3rd pairing level player. Nobody said Gallagher is too good for Risto. My main issue with your posts about Risto following last nights game is that they have the tone of somebody hell bent to prove their opinion correct. Risto's contract is 6 years long and you've mentioned it several times. He's played one game on that contract and your posts have a tone of final judgement to them. You say that last night's team was garbage and it was one game right after you say we should be wondering if Risto will live up to his contract.

Kane is a great 3rd liner. Effective to the point of being an average 2nd line winger. The difference between Kane and Stafford is that Stafford disappeared come playoff time, whereas Kane's hardnosed style is best suited to the war that is playoff hockey.

That's overstating it a bit. He wasn't good, but he wasn't terribad either. I'm excited to see how he looks with Kulikov as a partner.

I'm fine with hearing about Risto's mistakes, not so fine with hearing it through the lens of "for a 32 mil #1 defenseman." We know Pi's point of view on this, we don't need to hear about it every time Risto turns it over.

Good team. We're going to overwhelm other teams with our depth of quality forwards.

I want guys that skate as hard and fast as Kane, but I also want them to skate smart, which I don't think Kane always does.

How about we don't over-analyze every shift Risto plays over the next 6 years?

Crosby is a much better skater than Kane, and while he plays hard and fast, I've never thought he plays with reckless abandon. Crosby may have missed more time, but he's also been in the league longer than Kane. The comparison doesn't have much value in my eyes. Also, Crosby suffered a couple huge concussions, whereas Kane's fairly regular injuries are less severe body wear and tear stuff.

I'm pretty quick to be critical of Hot Daniel, but I can't blame him for last night. The guys were trying on the most part, they just weren't very good.

USA hockey's architects and coaches need to be purged root and stem. Then maybe we'll have a shot at you.

Damn. That pass was ridiculous. Thank god Matt Moulson buried it. Speaking of which, Moulson is still useless 5 on 5. Risto was just kinda meh. Gorges was Gorges. It's absurd how much having Jack out changes the profile of our team. His speed creates so much offense and opens up so much space. Can't wait to have him back. On the Kane injury, I don't think Emelin was at fault there. I don't really know what Kane was doing. Looked like another injury due to his reckless style. I liked Dan's handling of the lines after Kane went down.
