This is why Lucic is so good. All he sees is the game because thinking isn't even a thing he does.
Found it fitting for your comment, but don't know how to embed, anyone help complete the task?

Is it too much to ask for the Blues to come crashing down to Earth?
The Buffalo Sabres, the first team in history to have the #1, #2 and #3 overall picks in a professional sports draft.
Would be nice, but I don't believe the Blues regress that much. I can't see them repeating this season however. The most likely deduction by many is 23 to 27 overall pick in 15. I'd expect that to be a reasonable expectation. Personally, if they fall below the 20th overall selection I'd be ecstatic.
As for the Islanders, I still see them as a 4th to 7th overall selection. If they over achieve (my personal estimation in any event) and end up 12th to 16th overall, I still wouldn't be disappointed. I would like Murray to take the Islanders and Blues picks along with one of those early 2nd rounders (Buffalo's even) to get up into the 7 to 9 spot. I firmly believe we have plenty of depth players for lines 3 and 4 in the system now, I'd like that 1st line top tier talent filled out and that 2nd line secondary threat filled out by the end of the 15 draft.
-
Given the young depth they have on D, I'd move him for a 1st line player all day. If your Edmonton, do you bite? I'm guessing Eberle would be the only one you'd get a sniff at.
I agree with Eberle as the player. I'd like Yak but just a dream is all. Would I move Myers? No, not yet, still plenty of time on that contract and he is still fairly young.
I'd like to see Zadarov and Risto come up and see if we can't find a partner in them for him. I'd love to see Zad's and Myers form chemistry, big bodied banging D man partner while Myers uses his wheels to move the puck. Ah yes, visions of chemistry...........

I feel that it's easy to criticize. It was easy to criticize Abraham Lincoln. It was easy to criticize Franklin D. Roosevelt. It's easy to criticize Barrack Obama.
Yes, I am comparing Abraham Lincoln to Jerry Sullivan, but I am also comparing Jerry Sullivan to YOU. What have you got? Show me your portfolio, and I'll compare it to Jerry Sullivan's and let YOU know how YOU stack up.
I'm no Jerry Sullivan, but I'm also no idiot. Warren Buffet is Jerry's boss. Respeck.
I have more respect for Jerry Sullivan than I do for Warren Buffet.

It would be kind of funny with the number of times we've heard "they should have taken the Oilers picks for Vanek" if he wound up netting us McDavid.
I'd be asking if it was reverse karma :P
But honestly, the Islanders pick is secondary to me for now, in any event, until we know where it stands towards the end of next season. I'm also interested in just how far the Blues will fall from grace. Will it be outside of the 20th pick? One can only hope.
I'm much more focused on our roster next season combined with our secondary picks (rounds 2 thru 4) from prior drafts to see just how they are progressing with their development. I'm crossing my fingers for a Datsyuk/Zetterberg type player, and right now, Baptiste isn't disappointing thus far.

The Islanders have some young talent up and coming, but not enough chemistry, experience and time to put it together next season. In my opinion, it was a mistake for them to retain the 5th this year, I firmly believe they'll be top 5 again next year. They just don't have the chemistry with the oh so young talent yet to make it happen. Halak makes no difference for them this coming season, he'll be peppered, and he doesn't strike me as the type of netminder to rise to the occasion on that scale. I'd say 4th to 7th overall selection for the Sabres next season from them if that pick doesn't win the lottery. Not a bad haul for Vanek, not bad at all.
-
I'd guess San Jose for Miller.
Now that the main components of the prior team have been moved, I must confess, I was no Regier fan but between him and Murray's trade moves I am very impressed with the returns. To myself in any event, there is a hope building for the franchises future.

PO2 HopefulFuture. Has a nice ring to it!
Accelerated advancement out of c school. Hit the fleet as a non-com, po3. Would have stayed but downsizing was coming, advancement much tougher.

E-5 US Navy 88-92

Not the best, IMO, but certainly top 5.
11, was the best Sabre player ever, IMO.
So ... 11, 39, 16, 10 (Hawerchuk) and 89, would be my top 5.
excellent rankings and spot on. Anyone who believes Gilbert isn't the greatest sabre to date didn't obviously have the pleasure and joy of watching him play.
-
Bennet please.

I am a child of rape. My mother, being Roman Catholic did not believe in abortion. Don't send mom out, don't buy her extravagant or expensive gifts. The greatest gift of all is to spend the day with her. Memories of togetherness both past and present are the key to love, regardless of money spent.
My 2 cents is all.

U take Bennett at 2 uhen wait for McDavid next year and re-unite them
-
No problem, there seems to be a general consensus from the tsn and nhl guys on what each of the top players bring to the table.
I should note basically every mock draft has us taking Reinhart. After the video and the reports on him, I don't think he is TM's type. Murray wants Bennett but I think he would settle for Draisaitl if he had do. I could be wrong but I think the Sabres take Bennett.
I agree with this
-
Really??? Florida controls who and what team picks #1. When they make a draft day deal and drop to 3-5 and still get one of the top 4 forwards maybe you will get the point.
You don't think we could have leveraged the #1 pick into another draft pick or prospect and dropped down to 2,3,or 4 and still picked up one of Bennett, Reinhart, or Draisityl.
Florida is going to get offers. All i am saying is GMTM would have liked to have been the guy listening. Maybe he would have ended up doing nothing but sitting at #2 we will never know.
So, its not as cut and dry as "if we get our guy its 100% irrelevant".
While your pointiest valid you'll have to remind me again why TM wont listen to offers for #2
-
Good, now terry has 3 teams within Prime Meddlin' Distance.
Interesting, Elmira falls right smack dab in the heart of NY's marcellus shale zone. Locking up the pivotal "up state new York triangle of NG". Oh let the conspiracy theories go deeper down the rabbit hole :P

While I agree the tank won't be intentional, where does TM expect to get what he himself. Said we lacked.......talent.
Tank on.........
-
I firmly believe TM & company pick up Sam Bennett with the 2nd overall.
I don't see the Islanders defering the pick, but if by some miracle they do, Dal.Cole please.
Interestingly, this coming Rochester season brings in a number of draft picks from seasons past. The chemistry can now start to build with this new core.
-
Well first off I have been saying we should tank and draft high for 2 years now so take your blinder argument and shove it. Second you should take your blinders off and read up on the draft for 2015, McDavid is not the only thing in the draft. Is everyone so stupid to think that with a 1/2 overall pick this year and what will be a bottom 5 pick next year that we won't get 2 exceptionally good players? I would love McDavid on the sabres but it is more important for the team as a whole to show they are growing. It is more important for Girgensons, Ristolainen, Pysyk, etc... to show that they are better next year than it is to have a 25% chance at best of getting McDavid. Blinders? No I am just not that short sighted to think only McDavid is Jesus and he only he can deliver us from the hockey hell we currently reside in.
Agreed the 2015 draft has more to it than simply Connor McDavid.
Now now, no reason to have a hissy fit. What would your parents think?
Let grandma make you a nice cookie and warm milk snack while uncle Terry tells you a bedtime story of how the Sabres built a dynasty......
-
Did it 10 times. Sabres 8, Oilers 1 and Florida 1
There, now u can all sleep easy :-)

I think PR aside, the Islanders should defer the pick, but I can't imagine telling your fans you're going to be the worst team in the league next year holds up with the Isles fan base. It's a tenuous relationship as it is, throwing that at them might just break it
No way. defer a top 4 pick? Not going to happen. You get a good talent, even in this diluted draft class. They aren't going to look at finishing in the bottom 5 next season. You take the pick, that's common sense. Buffalo will have to wait until 15 and hope the Islanders ######-can the bed next season.
-
A new culture of small forwards ? That is the culture of this team going back years.
But I was always told size doesn't matter .......
-
Toronto are starting to scare me, if they sell a few pieces and buy out clarkson they are competetion for the tank championship next year.
Kessel please

What if Tim Murray...
...dated Alyssa Milano?
...dated Harrison Ford?
...dated both of them but didn't tell either?
...or told both? or just one?
...or ate a baloney sandwich?
...or wrote his thoughts on paper and cast them into the sea?
...or refused to dunk his Oreo in fat-free milk, and insisted on regular milk?
...or spilled beef barley soup on his tie?
It is endless. Please, for the love of all that is good in this world, fix the title.
Eleven, u make this thread whole. U complete it :-)

I see the Sabres drafting 1st overall and one of 4/5/6/7.
