  1. Serious question: is it OK to judge Robin Williams and be disappointed in him for doing this? He left behind 3 children, who now have to go through life without a father, as well as his wife.

I apologize if this is insensitive or offensive -- just wondering whether anyone knows or has any thoughts about this.

I don't believe your judging him or his actions. I believe you truly care about the situation and are voicing an emotion, a concern if you will, of the situation. Surely this isn't the first time you've heard of some one taking their own life while having children, and, I'd like to believe nfreeman, that you give some emotion of yourself by expressing your concern for his loved ones. That is compassion, it shows a part or portion of your character as a human being in my opinion. And I for one, am more than content to see it, because to me in any event, compassion is one of the most important aspects of a human being attempting to live a life of good and purposeful intentions.

  2. The question with regard to the Sabres is ridiculous with Pegula around and all of the money he's investing in the community.

    Bingo!

I didn't even read the article, so I don't know the author, but you don't drop 300 million on a product and new building (purchase of the Sabres and the Harbor Center) without realizing that is a commitment to stay. WTH is this author talking about?

  3. There is less than 8 of the golden age left now. Letterman doesn't fall into that category, but Eastwood, Wrikles, White, Sutherland and a very few others do.

Williams is a tragic loss, such a great performer, made millions, including myself, laugh.

It's as it always will be, one generation is now passed in almost entirety, the next is starting to see some losses.

  4. We don't have to give up a pick if we sign him as a UFA. Chicago is automatically compensated with a second round pick if they are unable to sign him. They would get the same pick in the 2nd that they used to draft him. They took him 24th so they will get the 24th pick of the second rounds. All other teams at or beyond that slot in the draft order get pushed back one spot. It is not taken away from anyone.

Ah, well, that clarifies it quite a bit. Thank you shrader.

With the comment earlier on his willingness to to sign with Chicago being tied to ice time, would TM snag him and give him a shot at the roster right away, or tell him he could come up as needed?

  5. Has to be our pick. I would say that it's probably worth it. We have the Islanders' second, too, so would still have one (not to mention three first-round picks.) The only question is whether one or both of the second-round picks could be used to move the Blues' pick up in the first, or even be combined with the Blues' pick to move either our or the Islanders' first up, should either end up being middle of the round (no, they wouldn't help us move up to get in the top-2 should we miss out on them.)

Thank you for clarifying carpandean. I haven't caught Hayes in action but once viewing a televised game, so I'm not aware of his abilities. But if he's worth it, I'd like to see the Sabres go get him.

  6. Kevin Hayes anyone?

Seems he appears hell bent on going to UFA Aug. 15th.

Compensation to Chicago is a compensatory 2nd round pick, I'm assuming that's a pick at the end of the round, or is it actually our pick? And if so, is Hayes worth a top end 2nd round pick in this draft?

Projects as a power forward, hobey baker finalist. Plays a decent game, adds competition to the PF's we have in the pipe line now, no?

  7. Really good write up about how GMTM has ensured the kids can move up when they're ready.

That is an interesting look at the Sabres contract situation to be sure. Moulson and Gionta are the most interesting aspects of this, with the date on Gionta's NMC shifting over to a limited NTC, I have to wonder if Murray wouldn't be looking to move them after the 2/3 season mark as well. Time limit on instilling character and leadership qualities on the kids?

  8. Well, my point was that it was a really dumb thing to say. But anyways, what does he about all the wild animals (squirrels, rabbits, birds, etc) that ###### in his yard? And no ones following behind them to clean up after them either. Must be rough on him.

I don't know, why don't you ask him. Stretching it a little to prove what? Hey, check this out, I don't give a ###### ;)

  9. Mr. Pegula has had his honeymoon, spend to try and compete, early stage. Since, he's hired Mr. Murray and the blueprint appears to be taking shape nicely.

Murray heaven? No, this is still Hockey Heaven, the road needed more than a few cold patches is all, now that it's getting paved correctly it should make for a smoother ride to competitive games that are fun at FNC.

Well done Mr. Pegula, Well done Sir!

  10. Zadorov

I'll have years to screw it up.

@HF Armia had some nice open ice moves. Not much else of note. Had his head up, looks like he got to full speed quickly.

    Thanks X.

Looking ahead, I take it many of these prospects will be AHL bound or back to their respective junior clubs. Any chance we see some of them to the ECHL as well?

He had his moments - skated well and seems to read plays well - but it looked to me like he may have been a little... not intimidated, but maybe almost overwhelmed by some of the physical play. He reminded me of D Roy occasionally - just kind of floating at times.

Given his overall lack of familiarity with the N American game, I'm not going to panic or fret much about it. It'd only make me nervous if he's playing the same way a year from now...

Thanks campy, same question for you I posed to X. Any chance we see some of this talent in the ECHL this coming year?

  11. No ###### given? States botching executions of unremorseful criminals convicted of brutal murders. Like that guy in Oklahoma. Absolute zero ###### given.

If someone told me that, I would've told him to be my guest. I would've then filmed it and uploaded it to YouTube and said who's the ass now? No offense, but that was a really strange thing to say. Plus, last I checked dogs can't ###### in toilets and it's not like they're shitting on your front porch or walkway.

I think you missed the point. The dog can ###### in his own yard, my brother has kids that use that front yard area, sit in the grass and play and so on.

  12. If I could go back in time to witness one sports thing I missed it would be this line. I rank it above the '77 Cotton Bowl, 1983 World Series, and even the 1980 Winter Olymic Hockey Tournament. The French connection is the thing I have the least ability to understand because I never saw it in action.

That is sad really. I enjoyed them. My first memories of hockey are my mother and father taking me to the Aud game after game and cheering them on.
