  1. How about the athletic’s beat reporter? Does he watch more flames ? Nikita Zadorov The goals were there for Zadorov, as were some errors and bad defensive plays at times. He can still improve when it comes to being a more steady presence, but his offence was tantalizing. A three-goal output in his final game of the year was also a great way to end the season. Grade: B
  2. https://calgarysun.com/sports/hockey/nhl/calgary-flames/flames-coach-sutter-on-zadorov-hes-been-our-best-defenceman-clearly Again, I’m sure you might be in tune with the flames a little bit more than their coach
  3. https://flamesnation.ca/news/nikita-zadorov-took-a-big-step-forward-in-both-zones-in-2022-23 this is from 5 days ago. Or Do you watch more Zadorov?
  4. Lots. Kulich or Savoie situation again . Why would Calgary contemplate trading him? They have 3 guys in their final year of contracts, don’t think they will be looking to trade one of their better ones who still has term left Are you sure about that? Flames fans seem to love him
  5. Not until the Leafs are out then I can hope the Bruins lose
  6. My opening night lineup Skinner Thompson. Tuck JJP. Cozens. Quinn Savoie. mitts. Greeenway Bunting Krebs. KO extra - Jost , Rousak Samuelsson Dahlin Power Dumba Zadorov Jokiharju extra - Lyubushkin Levi Raanta
  7. I have a feeling Girgs will get a multi year deal elsewhere and is gone If Krebs is ready to move up the lineup , the top 9 are pretty well seT. Either way, I’ll assume KO is back, 10 of the 14 forwards they will open the season with are pretty well set. I think they bring back Jost as well final 3 roster spots will be a battle -Rousak and Kulich are possibilities. Thinks Savoie is most likely to start season with Sabres maybe a UFA is signed to play 4th line minutes. Someone who would be ok with a shorter term deal and hopefully can bring a bit more grit and offence than Girgs Olofsson and Vinny are also not here next season maybe there’s a team that needs a PP specialist that we can flip VO to. on D Bryson should not be on the 23 man roster. He belongs in the AHL. Hopefully there is a guy in UFA market who they think they can play in the top 4 Dumba seems to be a good fit to me I would then like to see them trade a draft pick (2nd round) and mid tier prospect to Calgary for one of their Dmen in the last year of their contracts It may not be a popular thought but I would love to see Zadorov back on the team. Though seems he loves Calgary and wants to spend rest of the career there BUT has also said a lot of good things about the city of Buffalo He would be a physical force on the bottom pair and his game has seemed to mature under Sutter.
  8. Think you are too early to judge Stillman in the Sabres system. He probably ends up as the 6th or 7th Dman when they start the season
  9. My boy is finding his groove in the playoffs. excited to see where his game goes next season Btw. CSKA lost 2-1. Now ahead in the finals 3 games to 2
  10. time out.....Crouse would be an excellent addition to the Sabres. Kassian had a lot of "issues" who knows how he could have turned out. and which Ritchie do you mean ? or both?
  11. you did read the next sentence when I wrote "him finding his game is definitely a possibility" I'm still liking the Sabres chances of overtaking both Leafs and Lightning next season...
  12. Im more even more confident that the Sabres will pass the lightning next season, unless Vasilevskiy finds his game. TB is finding out what we as Sabres fans have known for a long time...you can't win without a goaltender. I'm surprised to learn that he is only 28, figured he was much older. Him finding his game is definitely a possibility. Their core is getting older, though both Stamkos and Hedman still have lots to offer Not to sound too optimistic, I think they have a chance to pass the Leafs as well.
  13. Listened to Dan Marr (NHL Central Scouting) interview last night Im up to 6 guys who I want the Sabres to draft at 13. Not sure how reasonable it is that a couple of guys will be there at 6 3 Dmen: Axle Sandin Pellikka - probably would be under utilized as a Sabres as he would be behind Dahlin and Power BUT he can grow as a 3rd pair dman and if needed to move up to top 4 due to injury, he would be a good option. David Reinbacher or Dmitri Simashev. My gut feeling is that ASP and Reinbacher are gone by 13 and using the pick on Simashev might be a tad early 3 Power Forwards - Ryan Leonard (long shot to there at 13), Matthew Wood 6'3 Forward who has already played 1 season in the NCAA. Didn't have him on my list until I heard Marr speak of him and Central Scouting ranking him 4th on their list of NA Skaters. Quentin Musty (ranked 14th by Central Scouting) but doing some research after others brining him up in this thread, would fit pretty well I think
  14. My guess is no, but i really don't know.
  15. Digging a little deeper. He avg 8 mins per game (all even strength) in the regular season. Had 37 shots on net and picked up 10 points in 55 games He’s getting only 6 mins a game in the playoffs but has 17 shots and 4 points in 16 games seems he is doing more in less time.
  16. I’m surprised by the weight. I would have thought, close to 200lbs. Plays like a bigger guy anyway
  17. Nope. Under contract with CSKA. 2 more seasons in the KHL. May not need AHL time by the time he comes over
  18. Poltapov’s team is one game away from winning the KHL championship been an up and down year for him, playing limited minutes though he has been playing on the 2nd line in the finals. next season should be interesting for him as he earns a bigger role on his squad I’m still very much excited to see what he brings as a power forward to the Sabres in a few more seasons. (3 I think )
  19. Yes I was watching. Was looking for Matthews out there picking up all the sticks during the melee lol
  20. Sorry Dahlin and Cozens arent physical? Thompson has had a few fights including vs Chara. I wasn’t saying the leafs are soft. My comment was directed at Matthews and that he will never be a leader who takes his team anywhere
  21. Out of curiosity. Out of Dahlin, Cozens and Thompson - who is busy collecting sticks while their teammates are all involved in a scrum?
  22. Actually he didn’t drop them lol. Never got it gloves off And you have to be joking if you don’t think Cozens, Dahlin and Thompson would be part of the scrum.
  23. is there any worse leader than Matthews? playimg the roll of Molly Maid, picking up sticks, while a scrum is going on after the hit on point so happy to know that the Sabres leaders Dahlin, Thompson and Cozens would be right in the middle sticking up for their teammates When the playoffs come next season, the fight in those 3 will go a long way for them doing something that Matthews never has. … winning a playoff round
  24. Just doing some afternoon draft reading looking like both Reinbacher and ASP will both be gone before 13 The decision will be to take Simashev early, on the assumption he won’t be there when you draft again OR take the top forward at 13 and hope to fill in your defensive prospect pool with your 2nd rounders ??
