  1. Idk what this means
  2. JohnC I hope you know I'm not saying you're wrong. I think you are but you are right in that we don't know yet.
  3. I gotta say, this is getting old fast. You say the exact same thing about everyone someone questions "I'll wait until camp..." Yea... we all have to wait until camp but this is a message board so we debate stuff before that. Maybe Olofsson will have a sudden epiphany that you have to be stronger and faster in the NHL. Certainly possible but this will be his last year in Buffalo. The talent coming is going to eclipse him. Ftr, I really like VO. I remember when he emerged after the Possler injury and just never went away. I think he's been a solid player and my take isn't a reflection on him as much as on how the team itself has grown around him. Or imo the team has outgrown him.
  4. If the coaches think olofsson is a 2nd line player, I'm concerned.
  5. I'm not afraid he'll play well, I'm afraid the Sabres think he can play well and give him opportunities and toi when a guy like Rousek might be able to contribute more. Skinner's underlying metrics from what I remember never cratered. Also, I like how we're now using a guy who did bad under Krueger and rebounded instantly under Granato as a sign that Oloffson will rebound back to... idk decent?
  6. I agree, Novikov should be there and is on or above Johnson's level. I have no clue why Pekar is listed at all.
  7. Streaming information will be available at a later date. Here is the full game schedule for the 2023 Prospects Challenge: Friday, September 15 Ottawa vs. New Jersey, 12 p.m. Pittsburgh vs. Boston, 3:30 p.m. Buffalo vs. Montreal, 7 p.m. Saturday, September 16 Ottawa vs. Pittsburgh, 12 p.m. Boston vs. Montreal, 3:30 p.m. Buffalo vs. New Jersey, 7 p.m. Monday, September 18 New Jersey vs. Boston, 10 a.m. Montreal vs. Ottawa, 1:30 p.m. Buffalo vs. Pittsburgh, 5 p.m.
  8. It also doesn't include Power who's only 20. Or Quinn and JJP who are 21.
  9. Wheeler is slightly better than Pronman when it comes to thinking size = good. That said, it's clear Ohgren being bigger is the main factor when he still mentions his pace and skating concerns. Östlund just need the weight room.
  10. The bold needs to end. Please go watch Kulich in Rochester, he was inconsistent and relied heavily on his shot for most of the year. He's not NHL ready and needs to stay in Rochester. He's become this overhyped player simply because he put up 46pts in 62 games which is less than JJP and Quinn did, and look at their rookie nhl years. If they bring Kulich up, it shows they didn't and don't care about development because he's not ready.
  11. He's signed for 3 more years.
  12. Pick your favorite 10 Sabres prospects, 50% of those won't make it to 100 NHL games.
  13. Ullmark was a ufa. Adams didn't decide not to sign him, Ullmark decided to sign elsewhere. I don't disagree. I have a hard time seeing UPL amount to more than a mediocre backup.
  14. UPL only played 13 games before this season in the NHL. He spent part of 3 other seasons in the AHL before this one and wasn't very good. Idk what the Sabre could have done differently other than drafting Wolf so UPL wouldn't be needed here.
  15. I'm not sure Kozak ever makes the nhl but there's a 0% chance of it in 2023.
  16. I think you could waive upl and he'd clear.
  17. This is my stance as well.
  18. Let's just restart here. UPL isn't particularly good and it's not the defense, he's slow to recover in part because of his size. He's also slow moving lateral, which is a key component in a modern offense. Take the puck to A, get the defense and goalie to shift that way, hit B the opposite way for a shot. A good goalie is good imo whether they are small or large, the height imo doesn't make them naturally better. Levi will have holes in different spots than a large goalie but large goalies have holes too. For example the V under a goalie arm is larger in a taller goalie while the space above the shoulders is smaller. The biggest issue Levi will have is over the shoulder because he naturally won't cover the area as much, it's why he comes out further. Now, big goalies can be good. And small ones can be bad. They have different advantages and weaknesses. Shesterkin and Saros aren't big but they are good. Leinonen is big but he's not good. Lots of NHL goalies that are big wash out. It all depends on reactions, positioning, and tracking. Smaller goalies move faster usually, large ones cover more area. Not always but generally. I don't think though there is a good correlation to say bigger is always better in terms of goalies. That was my only point with looking at past winners. Will Levi succeed? Maybe, but he won't fail simply because he's short.
  19. Do you want VO taking a regular shift when this team makes the playoffs?
  20. Chill, take a deep breath
  21. I'm just impressed with the use of truculence.
  22. Jack is a good hockey player. VO that year has 18min of toi versus the 14 he gets now. I think vo on the pp1 is the only way and I'd never play him there. He's a bad facilitator.
  23. 2 seasons ago he got more ice time and more pp1 time. I don't see that repeating
  24. I don't believe he's a 50pt player, a 60pt year or pacing for that would have me trade him asap. It would be a massive anomaly or outlier. I just can't see him ever being that.
