  1. Nygard, who I like, is 7 months older and also played in a men's league. He's a rw though, not a center, and Helenius has better playmaking while nygard has a better shot. Both have a physical element. But we're arguing over 1.75" and 16lbs... just seems a bit superfluous. Oh yea, forgot about that one. Was traded for a 1st and other stuff. Yes.
  2. Eiserman is going to be good and several teams who passed on him will look foolish.
  3. Guentzel is staying in Carolina according to reports.
  4. I disagree. This org has a ton of lhd and didn't need another. Helenius is probably the best 2way center of the 4 players here and I think Kulich and Savoie and up at wing.
  5. My thoughts:
  6. Which other team traded a first round pick in the last week for a current nhl player in either a package or solo? It isn't just a Buffalo thing. That's no excuse for Adams failing up to this point to add talent via trade.
  7. I could answer this question but I'm lazy. Not many. Cayden Lindstrom is the only one before Helenius gets drafted. Lindstrom and Sennecke are the only 2 drafted at 6'2" or taller before Helenius. Short list.
  8. Oh that's fun, hmm. Better than Geekie and Lundell. I've never loved Perfetti. Rossi is tough because dude got covid bad so really just getting on track but ahead of Helenius. Nazar I think Helenius can be better than. I like Sillinger a lot. Alright, without doing any research and based on my gut... Rossi, Sillinger Perfetti, Helenius Lundell, Nazar, Geekie That's where I would be and I recognize Lundell just won a cup.
  9. I think Helenius is better at taking away space than Iginla.
  10. He could probably hold it down maybe this year or next.
  11. He can do pull-ups! I repeat, he can do pull-ups.
  12. One thing not mentioned thus far, Helenius has a great personality and is fun.
  13. Iginla is 1" taller and 2lbs heavier than Helenius. This is why I keep pushing back on your small euro comments.
  14. Interesting you mention Krebs. This will sound insane and I'm not advocating for it but Helenius might be better than Krebs within a year or maybe two.
  15. No one wants to hear this but, there's talent available at 42 and 43. Julius Miettinen, a 6'3" 200lb center is already in the whl and is another Finn. Has a power forward element and took off after a NA adjustment period. He's flying under the radar. Igor Chernyshov, a 6'2" 198lb winger who should have already been drafted but Russian factor. Power forward in the modern sense, dude survived a bottom 6 role in the KHL so defensively sound with lots of skill. Andrew Basha, the 5'11" 186lb lw who also should have been drafted. I expect him to go quick today. He's good but he's another guy under everyone's 6ft threshold. Charlie Elick, the 6'4" 203lb rhd likes to make opposing forwards eat ice and he's got the mobility needed to continue that. Dominik Badinka, the 6'3" 185lb rhd who just played his draft year in the SHL and was very good positional. Harrison Brunicke, a 6'3" 187lb rhd in the whl who has great mobility and some untapped offense while being able to shutdown his own zone. Adam Kleber, a 6'5" 214lb rhd with good agility out of the USHL, has 2nd pairing potential and some grit.
  16. If the Sabres want to trade up...
  17. He spelled it Hell-Anu$ I mean, someone needed to point it out. Also I hope it was not expensive bourbon haha.
  18. Olli Jokinen on Konsta Helenius (Jokinen is his coach) “He was the best player out there on the ice and generated a couple of goals just with a heavy forecheck generating turnovers and takeaways,” Jokinen says. “He can generate 5-7 takeaways per game which is something that Pavel Datsyuk was the last guy to be able to do as a center. Barkov is really good on that as well. So there’s a lot of similarities to those guys in the way Konsta plays.” https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5435518/2024/04/27/konsta-helenius-2024-nhl-draft/?source=emp_shared_article from the same article "His (Helenius) 36 regular season points were the fourth-most ever by an under-18 skater in Liiga, behind names like Barkov, Granlund and Kakko, and ahead of others like Laine, Lehkonen, Puljujarvi and Teravainen."
  19. wait ***** is a blocked word? It is anatomically correct
