  1. Somewhere on a future episode of Beyond Blue and Gold: The camera focuses on Kevyn Adams through a crack in the office door as he puts down the phone while executing a quiet fist pump. He looks across the room to an unseen companion allowing a slight smile to crack his lips. "We got him, we got Vinnie Hinostrozza!"
  2. I'm fine with Pysyk as our 6/7 who can sub up into forward in a pinch. Wow, that could actually be the plan. Recreate the 2005 Amerks down there.
  3. He was good as a rookie, mediocre the next two years, and bad last year. I perceive him mostly as a one-way d-man who needs to be put in optimal positions to succeed.
  4. Caggiula, Bjork, Hinostrozza and Butcher were all college studs who've had brief flares, but basically disappointed in the NHL
  5. In a vacuum it's a decent no-cost acquisition with a chance to rebound. He's not filling any particular hole in the Sabres lineup though.
  6. I was thinking further retention. Nobody wants him at $3.7 million, but at $1.5 he's an asset.
  7. Very surprising, but welcome. Didn't think he was happy with the shot he got here last time. Should be a solid Buf/Roc tweener. I always liked his game.
  8. Doubt it's happening or the Sabres wouldn't have bothered to do a write-up on him, but a retained Butcher has value in an Eichel swap to Minny (or maybe others)
  9. Finally something that moves the needle. LOL.
  10. Yet another good college player who hasn't been good enough to translate his college success to the NHL. Can he play the right side? Or is there a lefty being moved in a trade? He's basically Bryson, so our left side looks like: Dahlin Bryson/Butcher Samuelsson/Hagg
  11. Or Sam, or Jake, or Risto... I was counting on Linus to keep us in games this year and buy the kids time to grow. Instead of somebody stealing us games, we're going to end up with someone giving them away. Or paying assets we don't have in order to trade for someone worse than Linus. Once Jack goes, we've literally lost ever single "good" veteran on the roster. And probably without getting a single one in return. Adams better have a backup plan, but for the life of me I can't understand what it can be. And the ***** Bruins of all teams.
  12. Damn if we don't sign Linus, we're really in trouble. It's literally Dubnyk. McIlhenny and Anders Nilsson as the only UFAs unsigned.
  13. Every successful tank needs a few Brian Flynns and Torrey Mitchells taking a few bullets for them. Our current ones just happen to be named Drake and Vinnie.
  14. Bjork, Caggiula, Hinostrozza... Gentlemen, we have a type.
  15. Not a peep out of the Kings today either...?
  16. Everyone expected that. NIce contract considering how his season ended. Warrior who will be missed. Always enjoyed Jake. Can I at least keep Linus? Please?
  17. Best case scenario is that a bidding war has finally broken out and all the cards are on the table: Vegas is dangling Krebs AND Tuch The Wild are saying we can have Boldy AND Rossi Anaheim has finally moved Zegras on to the table and Comtois is staying there as well Drury has upped the 4th to a 3rd and is grudgingly throwing in Keith Kincaid.
  18. Sorry, I took an hour off. I don't see a single real move that indicates any of the main suitors are out. And just the normal space-fillers from the insiders.
  19. Here are three things to consider with the current "tank": The management may have stripped top-end talent for futures, but unlike 13/15, the team will still be trying to win on the ice Unlike 13/15, this team will have a smattering of players — Dahlin, Cozens, maybe Mitts and the key Eichel return — worth watching Generally speaking, this team won't be any worse than what we've watched the past 4 years and could easily be better than last year
  20. So if you are correct, the Seravelli Tweet is the result of the agent feeding him that tidbit in the hope it might spark that last-minute overture. Which is a great illustration of how much of this stuff that we read and hear gets out.
  21. Lundqvist, statistically, is far more than Ryan Johnson. He had 63 points in 97 games in the SHL as a 19 and 20-year-old defenceman. 8 points in 7 games in his last world juniors. 5 points in 3 games at this year's Men's world championship. Last year he scored the most goals by a U21 defenceman in SHL history and won their version of the Norris.
  22. I understand all that and also have been focused on getting a potential 1C as a “must-have” Set it aside for a moment. How good are Chytil and Lundqvist and how good can they be?
  23. Isn’t a two projected top 4 RHDs with complementary talents and a projected 2C a better return than a projected 1B C and a projected 4/5 (Krebs and Hague?)
  24. Bad news because we lost a partner with some attractive assets? Good news because it means somebody else has finally got a good offer on the table? Completely meaningless? Its going to be a stressful day.
