That is priceless. TO is the gift that keeps on giving.

I guess this is as good a thread as any.
Coming soon to reality TV near you:
-
Pysyk does a play similar game to Butler, but Pysyk is better at, well, pretty much everything.
MAG is a horrible comparison. He could play the PP in the NHL, but he was the softest player and the worst defending defence man to wear the blue and gold in recent memory.
-
Not disagreeing with your general points LGR, but there are actually six guys up front who have scored 20 on this team, and of that group only Gionta is past his prime. It's going to take Nolan creating some unexpected chemistry for more than a handful to reach that this year.

Good recap from Sabre-watcher Kris Baker:

Nice exchange here people.
Good to see we're getting back to some real hockey talk.
-
They're getting the band back together in the desert.
Anyone seen Larry Quinn?
-
I didn't see any of it, but if reports are to be believed, I think they learned Risto looks ready, McCabe and Zads do not, Armia seems improved, Reinhart still has questions, Lemieux has to get smarter, Cornel and Karabacek were worth picking where they took them, and none of the other guys did anything special to elevate themselves, like Baptiste did last year.
Training camp will reinforce or change those opinions, then development will take over. This all about evaluation.
-
I'm a Cassidy skeptic, but nothing in that tourney is about strategy or coaching to win.
It's about letting the young guys play and learning what they can and cannot do.
-
His size certainly isn't a strength, and his physical game is meh.
But from what I've seen, he's good at not putting himself in situations where he is going to lose a physical matchup.
The puck is off his stick quickly and safely. He uses that stick effectively to separate the puck from charging puck carriers, break up passes and tie people up in front of the net. He doesn't engage attackers head-on, he angles them away from danger areas.
He's not an explosive skater, but he is fast (forward, backward and laterally) and very poised and efficient. He uses his feet to get to the right spots ahead of his opponent. I'd argue that his defensive IQ is already above-average and it is going to get better.
Sometimes less is more on the back end.
I don't think you will ever get big plays or big numbers from him, just a lot of quiet efficiency.
i do wonder what a mature Pysyk will be like in big games. Will his style be an asset because he will keep his head when others are not? Or will he lack the edge to make a difference against more dynamic players who can match his IQ?
-
Full agreement. Kid may see some growing pains this year, but I read the depth chart as proof they expect him to be with the big club for good this season.
I'm terrible at remembering which D plays which side, but style-wise, in the not-to-distant future I see him as the steady complement to either Myers or Risto on our top pair. He will never wow you, but he will make a quiet difference.
I've said it before, I think he's a Numminen type who will play in the league for a long-time.

A trade up is far less likely than the Sabres winning the lottery, which is only slightly more likely than me winning the lottery.
lindros forced his trade. McDavid is not going to do that, in fact he pissed on people who would.
-
I'd be surprised if Risto is not a Sabre opening night.
Reinhart is no lock, and Larsson will make a big push.
Other than that, looks pretty likely (and pretty likely a nice ticket in the McDavid derby).
-
@Weave.There was some talk about lazy play and an entitled attitude coming out of London in the back half of the season.
No serious reports I could cite, just general message-board fodder.
-
I wonder if the Sabres are concerned about the recent whispers about nIkita and that was a deliberate warning shot to get him to shape up in time for training camp.

http://www.torontosun.com/2014/09/15/hockey-phenom-connor-mcdavid-wants-to-be-no-1-at-nhl-draft
After reading this article it confirms the fact that I REALLY want the Sabres to play out of their minds this year and draft what?? maybe 7th or 8th overall next year.
This guy clearly isn’t worth coming in last and maximizing our percentages to draft him (not to mention guaranteeing Eichel as a consolation prize)
All that skill and an impressive attitude too?
-
EJ has looked OK again.
Too bad his two worst passes should have set up a first-and-goal to Woods and should have been a touchdown to Watkins.
The defence looks completely dominant.
-
Armia — despite the no points, again — is being touted as the Sabres most dangerous forward last night.
I think this is his crucial year.
The plan is to give him all kinds of top six minutes in Rochester for the first half in the hope he can produce at a 30-goal pace.
Then they want to be able to call him up to fill the roster spot of Stewart/Stafford after the trade deadline in preparation for a full-time shot in Buffalo next year.
If he finishes the year at under a 20-goal pace in the AHL and/or doesn't warrant that spring call-up, I think the bust conversation should start in earnest.
-
Re: Armia, count me among the skeptics, but Cassidy called him dominant yesterday.
said there was only one shift the entire game that line didn't spend in the attacking zone.
-
I read the shots were 32-16 Buffalo midway through the third, but they were down 5-1.
Sounded like some bad penalties, a few breakdowns and a tough game by Makarov.
-
I'm not so certain about Ennis and Hodgson (if Samson and Zemgus shine maybe one, but not both), and especially not Myers, at least not for picks.
Murray wants to be competitive in 2015/16 and he won't be with no one on his team between the ages of 22 and 29 except Mike Weber.
-
We have a glut of three and four star prospects in the system already and five more of them will be added in June.
The Sabres must have a general plan about adding three or four rookies to the team each year.
I wonder what the vision is? I would imagine it is something like this, without factoring in the possibility of a McEichel
2014: Pysyk, Risto, Larsson? Reinhart?
2015: Girgorenko, McCabe, Armia, Zadorov?
2016: Compher, Carrier? Ullmark? Fasching? Baptiste?
Things are going to get crowded and deals will need to be made.
-
Grigorenko has too many NHL/pro games under his belt.
As far as I know Lemieux is playing. Where did you hear different?
-
Anyone get a chance to read this?
I don't even care if it's true or not.

I think Stafford is going to hit 20 for sure.
He turned a corner last year, but all that really matters is his contract is up.
The one I'm really curious about is Stewart. He scored 15 in just 26 games in the lockout year.
Also a pending RFA, who wants to prove Hitch wrong.
