He had two opportunities to do the right thing and resign. First when the Stars moved to Dallas, and second when the league allowed Hull's goal to stand. He tacitly supported both by not returning all of his earnings to the league and resigning immediately. These failures are unforgivable to me.

In my house it's usually this:

If the league distributed revenues more, every fanchise could have been profitable last year. Without.all those less profitable teams, the big 3 lose big time. They should share more. You missed my point worse than Norwood in the clutch.

The minute the Owners asked for a salary cap they decided to make the team revenue disparity irrelevent. You can't require the leafs to underpay their roster relative to revenue, and not ask the Panthers to over pay. Ditch the cap and floor, and everyone can be profitable if they choose. But that would be bad for the game overall. The best answer for long term growth is NFL-like revenue sharing.

Yes. This. Exactly this.

I was talking about actual research, not poly-sci. :P

Look more at like a research center or accounting firm, where the people are the product.

Doc fix is the.annual rollback of medicare reimbursement cuts. Amt is alternativd minimum tax, again adjusted annually to avoid hammering the middle class.
-
So spending goes down automatically if the budget is not passed (end of all one time items) what about one off things like doc fix and AMT?
-
I didn't say they "gave up" anything. I said they moved. sorry for insulting strippers.

This would is effectively what the "continuing resolutions" do, keep in mind, there isn't really a "budget" passed per se. It's a serious of appropriations bills combined with one-off measures (like the iraq funding) and the existing tax laws. It's not like local governments or school boards that pass one-piece "budgets". But I like the idea of freezing everything after 3 months before the fiscal year starts. I wonder how this would effect one-time payments like earmarks. And yes, I am a democrat. BTW, on an unrelated note, what's a donkey punch?

I'm with the owners now. For all the reasons GoDD stated. You gotta dance. If you just sit there while the other guy moves, eventually they will realize that you're treating them like a stripper giving a lap dance.

This is why the day I traded in my '98 Concorde for a car-seat carrying cross-over SUV is in my top 10 sad days.

We disagree on how best to tackle a recession.

It's not a credit card and it's not a person. And austerity will kill any chance of recovery. We need stimulus, not austerity.

No, Now would be the absolute worst time to spend significantly less money. We need to spend MORE money right now.

In my view, businesses profits should not be taxed at all. Dividend, capital gains, and pass through income should see higher rates to make up the difference. Would be great for the economy. Lots of jobs back shored.

How is a flat tax more fair than simply taxing each citizen a flat amount? Everyone pays $5000 or something like that. If each citizen receives equal benefit from the government, why should one citizen pay more than another because they have more income?
-
We do it for the lurkers.

Outstanding.

How about we eliminate the deductions shelters and loopholes, and still keep the progressive tax rate? Nice simple and clean.
