  1. The recent American Pastime of degrading education and intelligence as elitist and out of touch has doomed you. I have a great time watching some of my bosses and co-workers type out e-mails. They often take minutes to correctly type out just a few middle school level sentences.
  2. Damn that tower in Babel and all the people of plains of Shinar.
  3. Toronto is the lowest team we can catch, right?
  4. Waht?!?!
  5. If we have the first pick, and a chance to take McDavid, and someone offers us a Herschel Walker trade. I might make that trade. but it's not a sure thing.
  6. We as a species still only have a very rough understanding of what this means. We have the bodies. The Duersons and Seaus and Boogaards and Martins. But we really only have a minimal understanding of how the brain works let alone how it is damaged.
  7. boarding is a penalty based on impact with the boards. Charging is based on speed due to distance traveled. This was probably both, but charging includes contact with the boards.
  8. exactly, he came from Dallas to make that hit.
  9. both. Everything we can do to fix the QB position. It is the only think that matters right now. No waiting, Draft, vet, develop EJ, Full steam ahead on all fronts.
  10. While I cannot understand how a fan of the game can look at that malicious charge and say its part of the game (it's nearly a to the letter major charging penalty with an automatic game misconduct for the injury), I do agree with you about the ticky-tack suspensions. The dpos needs to go big or go home. US attorney style. 95% conviction rates and sentences not in white collar minimum security country clubs, but in Federal pound me in the ass prison.
  11. Get back to coaching the Stars, Lindy. :P
  12. Yes. This is exactly the charging rule. I mean, exactly. 42.1 - Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner.
  13. a Round the NHL?
  14. Oates was upset at the non-call on the instigator.
  15. You've failed us all.
  16. Me too. There is nothing in his physique or psyche that would prevent him from becoming a guy who can make the reads and the throws. It's all about coaching. MY biggest concern is that these coaches can't get this guy to that level.
  17. exactly. NFL defenses are too big and too fast. You're not going to run away from D-ends in the NFC east like you did in the Big 12 south. You're going to get killed.
  18. yes, last years 49ers are the exception, seattle is not, they beat another running-qb team, largely because RGIII was hurt, because he is a run-first QB.
  19. Yeah, say QBs with more than 48 attempts (3 per game). above that you are either (a) afraid to throw, or (b) a run first guy. either way, you're not likely to be deep in the playoffs.
  20. The key here is to be comfortable taking a risk on a QB. It's not desirable, but it's OK if they don't become "the guy". The position is important enough to risk it a round or 2 early. Taking a risk gives you a chance at success, not picking a QB guarantees failure. Also it should be noted that "mobile" style QB's disproportionately fail to make it to the second round of the playoffs.
  21. I don't really care if he was 4th round talent. You get the QB. Literally (and I use that word for it's literal meaning) no other gap or issue matters until you address that position. This would be my strategy as well, and I'd limit it to by the 3rd round. The only exception would be that you currently have a top 15 QB under contract for more than 2 years. qwk was over the line, not sure d4rk was, and we will always give a ####, that's why we come back.
  22. There is no but. He's a rook, he's the starter next year no matter what. but they better draft a damned QB in this draft so that IF he fails to develop, the next guy we try isn't a Rook.
  23. Yes.
