I want them to win the lottery just so we can watch the Islanders squirm
-
I'd go after Ott, Morrow, and Jagr. Moulson if he's willing and resign Tallinder. Aside from Ott & Moulson they are past their prime and experienced players with trade value at the deadline.
If you keep Erhroff, give Sulzer another year. Find a Rivet sort of guy to give money to and give depth/experience to the youngsters. I'd then give Zadorov and Risto short NHL stints for experience(5 games each) I'd keep D'agstini and Ellis. Field the team with old guys and a spattering of "NHLers" and young guys.

They have the least number of goals for in the league and traded their last scoring winger. They have the most shots against in the league and traded their franchise GT. If this team finishes 7th or better next year I will send you a case of beer.
I can see 1 scenario with this occurring; risto and Zadorov come up and along with Myers light it up. Armia and Grigs become such an amazing tandem in Rochester and it follows in Buffalo. Enroth and Neuvirth pull off what Crawford/Emery did last year and Stafford scores 30. Hodgson and Ennis have great years, Girgs becomes a consistent scorer and Ott and or Moulson resigns.

I love this guy's way of communicating with the press, straightforward with good honest answers. I hope to see his lighter-side come out like it did more in the post-deadline conference. Best of all he shows passion, something DR rarely if ever showed. If Lafontaine and Murray had any problems, it would of have to of been on the fact they are both very passionate for what they feel is right.

Murray "I want competition. I want one of our draft picks to be pissed off we got CC".
I loved that quote.
Well we like to joke alot, but conacher is high energy 3rd line guys for me on a good team that can fill in the top 6 spots during a game when needed.
Don't see anything more in him than that.
I think he has the potential to be a solid 2nd line winger in the right situation, as Murray said, he's a complementary piece. I almost imagine him being sort of a skilled player who's production relies on that of other players. He couldn't lead us to a Cup, but could assist a team in getting there. I'm not sure where he'll go after this season, if he hits it off with Ennis or Hodgson he'd likely be signed at least for a couple years. If not, who knows. As for your estimation, I'd mostly agree. On his own he's nothing more than energy guy on the 3rd line; however with the right line mates, he could be a solid 2nd liner as his time in Tampa Bay showed.

2 2nds aren't amazing but they are far better off with Moulson than what Snow got for Vanek.
Vanek's trade was a joke lol.
So we ended up trading Vanek for:
a conditional 2014 1st round draft pick, a 2015 2nd round draft pick, 4 months of Moulson, 2nd rounder in 2014, and 2nd in 2016
-
I like this for 2 reasons
No reason not to give him a chance.....
Plus, that may mean a Sabre trade is imminent
-
How many goalies are they going to have?
Kuemper, Backstrom, Harding, Bryz?
They plan to dress 4 goalies
-
What is happening, do they not know the deadline is tomarow at 3?
-
Fasth for a 3rd & 5th, low return
-
John Gibson.
Isn't he a tad inexperienced to be a good playoff backup?
-
Anaheim needs a backup now
-
Halak for Heatley and a 2015 1st rounder, that is what I'm expecting.
It would be Halak for a 1st/2nd but taking Heatley frees Minn up to make another move if they wish
-
During the offseason I'd go sign Morrow and Ott to add vet leaders back to the team.
How many guys do you think will be gone by the end the deadline?
I say 5
Halak
Moulson
Tallinder
Erhroff
Stewart
I think Myers stays
-
First time I've had an ounce of respect for him. I thought he'd throw B-lo under the bus for sure but he was pretty fair. I noticed the shoulder shrug thing too from Ted Black, me thinks Nolan is a goner. Too bad but ultimately it may be requisite for tank nation.
Everyone else has intimated differently but all those people have ties with the organ-eye-zation. Who knows...
I think the shrug thing was more of a "well be fine either way" sort of shrug.
What is with the Sabres and late season pushes?
-
Ehrhoff sitting tomorrow against Dallas....Hmmmmm??
Source?

As always with Buffalo sports, 1 step forward, 2 steps back

I don't think this will be the last we see of Ott or Miller to be honest. I think Ott will return in the offseason and Miller may return to backup in Buffalo for a year before he retires. At age 39 if he's still up to it. At very least I'd wonder if he'd retire a Sabre through a 1 day contract sort of deal.
If Miller signs with them or they get to the Conference Finals while Halak is signed/moved I'd say it was a successful deal.

Maybe we're all too smart to bother with this nonsense, but WTF is he talking about?

Typically I love hypothetical trades, but after the 1st one which has been bounced around since last year, they become really strange plus Schopp's hatred for Myers shows up... gah
If anything I'd amend the first trade for realistic purposes and add 1 of the other 2nds we have as a part of our offering.
Miller + St.Louis's 2nd rounder for Rattie, Halak/Elliot and a 1st.

Ok, so what are we going to do? We have enough cap room to sink a ship; a good deal of RFAs like Ennis, Adam, and McBain, not to mention the many odds and ends we have on the UFA side of things.
This is as far as I could get...... with resigning some players Ott would get 5 or 6 mil for 1 year if he wished to be a rental again, then we could hold 50% and make him cheap for a team. Ennis I just matched Hodgson's deal. Foligno I just gave him a nice little raise as I did McNabb and Ruhwedal. To be honest I don't know what to do about Adam. We could try to sign Callahan and Girardi I guess, and/or Jagr/Alfersson/Phillips/any other vet....

Unless the return is mind blowing why would u unload him. He said he wants to stay and I think they can get a deal done. The guy just works hard and what a better guy to help the kids!
I feel it'd be ideal if we could trade and resign him
-
Amazing also, in looking back at the box scores - the LASTgoal that Team Canada has given up was WAY back at the 16 minute mark of the 1st period of the quarterfinal against Latvia. Canada's played 130 minutes of hockey against some of the best players in the world without surrendering a goal. That's pretty epic.
Oddly enough, Latvia scored the most goals on Lundquist thus far during the Olympics and is the last team to score on Price.

Hmmm lets see.....
Back when I was a toddler, I am told, I got high fives from many of the players in the mid 90's at the Aud as they'd head on/off the bench. My great-grandparents had season tickets next to the tunnel and had them from 1970 until my great-grandfather's death in '03, (He went to hockey games when he was 90!) At the Aud, their tunnel seats actually couldn't be accessed without crossing the home team's tunnel. They actually held up some Sabres for they'd actually stop to let my great-grandparents by. Later in the FNC, they had seats directly across from the 200 Level to Parking Ramp tunnel. They literally had 4 seats for just them +2.
As for more recently, I bumped into both Hodgson and Foligno at the Sabres store during that 50% off sale after the lockout. Hodgson, quite literally walked up next to me and I didn't even notice him until after he'd gone and signed a kid's jersey on his way out. Marcus Foligno was far more hilarious, he walked into the crowded store with either his wife or girlfriend and practically no one recognized him. After some time, I actually walked up to him and thanked him for the great season he'd had with Ennis and Stafford that last summer, along with shook his hand. He was happy to talk with me briefly probably because I was quiet and he & I parted ways after a few minutes and resumed our respective shopping.
He isn't a Sabre, but I live across the street from Fred Jackson, the Bills RB. He's a really nice guy, a family man at home too. A couple years ago my father and I helped him push his SUV into his driveway when he'd forgotten to hire a plow guy before his yearly post-season trip to Iowa and Texas to see family.
Jaroslav Halak and a third-round 2015 draft pick to the Capitals in exchange for goaltender Michal Neuvirth and Rostislav Klesla.

While I wouldn't of whined about him using #30; it was honorable of him to change his number. Maybe it'll be lucky since Miller was forced to switch his number due to Hasek's feats
