  1. Bernier just trade from Leafs back to Cali to the Ducks for a conditional draft pick, will it be better then what TM bought Nilson for?
  2. nope, according to the Canadian sports media Edmonton got the best UFA this year with Lucic
  3. First, Vessey didn't earn anything yet when it comes to the NHL, he was given this opportunity to pick and choose where to play because of a rule the NHL has when it comes to college drafted players that other players don't get the opportunity. In 4 years can Sam or Jack, who have already earned more in the NHL say they want to go be an UFA? They will get to be RFAs and be stuck for a few more years before becoming FAs. Second, it's funny how at his age he is a 'man' who can make his own choices, yet Kane and others are kids when it comes to making dumb moves and getting in trouble. Third, he does have a choice when it came to the draft. Players have to enter themselves into the NHL draft in order to be drafted. The NHL doesn't draft player who haven't entered themselves into the draft to be drafted.
  4. OK, forgot about punching a teammate. As for Kane, Sportsnet here has a rumor that the Canucks might be interested in Kane, don't know what they would have to offer, but they are looking for a winger, and we do have a past dealing them 'power forwards' who never quite panned out here......... so who currently would be their Hodgson?
  5. OK, so one, although I don't know if wheeler has playedone to a level where he deserves to be calling the shots and being handed a top 6 role without proving himself in the league. Both Nashville and Buffalo have told him they were going to have him in their top 6 Unfortunately it's not all the players fault, the CBA gives them the ability, and GMs will fall over themselves to sign them thinking they may get a hidden gem
  6. me too, I prefer they bring in backup guys who have the skill/potential to beat out the current starter then just bringing in guys that will never challenge for the starting spot. Nelson may or may not be good, don't know much about him, but a player like NiemI would all east challenge Lehner for the job. I prefer seeing the teams GM always looking to upgrade what we have, especially when there are players who haven't shown the should be locked in a starting role yet....
  7. 2 of those guys only had reputations of being prima donas (Harvin and maybe shady), Rex was just a blowhard idiot, Richie was the only one that you could say could tarnish an image because bullying is such a big thing these days
  8. Have any of these big college FAs who left the team who drafted the to seek out a better opportunity amounto to anything NHL Wise? Schultz was one of the last ones I remember and hemiss pretty much a bust, then there was the kid Chicago had that left to the Rangers iirc....
  9. I think it's more like WHEN he gets hurt.....
  10. that's it! I remember he was the last big FA college player that was trying to pick his spot and he appears to be a bust.
  11. it is a bit of a confusing move though at this time cause Reimer wanted a chance to be the #1, so why sign a 5 year deal with a ten that has an established very good #1 signed til the end of your new deal? Why not sign a 1 year deal and hope for a starter spot to open up next year? the Rangers paid by the inch.....
  12. Gustavson is out, just signed a 1 year deal to back up Talbot in Edmonton for $800 k
  13. I don't think it's a bad deal myself, but I think it means lehner gets pushed to backup or 1b status behind Bishop or Niemi which isn't a bad thing. TM like the big goalies and Bishop is one of the biggest....
  14. I'm not bylsma or TM fan, but I don't think it means either gets fired if they don't make the playoffs. But I do think that they should be going after the playoffs this season and there should be disappointment if they don't make it. There's only one buffalo team who's coach should be fired if they don't make the playoffs this year......
  15. only if they came out publicly saying it. They could have decided internally they will deal him but still ask for a lot and if no one bites then go a little lower if that's the market I think most teams say screw it. Not every team is as dumb as edmonton
  16. they were gonna go after Stamkos, why not Tavares? Keep him away from Toronto and the Sabres can throw Bandits promotions out during the season
  17. said for the first time ever by anyone
  18. I think this means Matty Mo ain't going anywhere, could this also be a move to help attract another Tavares to Buffalo next year?
  19. Maybe another upgrade or 2 on the defence and backup goaltender is going to be a really important position with Leaner being a question mark to how many games he will play. I think they need a backup who can be a starter for a long period of time. This team should be expected to be a playoff team this year with the current roster. Not one expected to win the division, but one that should atleast make the playoffs
  20. do their fans a huge favour, let them all keep their jerseys relevant.
  21. while I agree, Lindros and Manning were both top picks in the draft and highly touted prospects coming out of college. Vesey was drafted in the 3rd iirc and stayed in college were he played pretty good. I don't get the hype for him and this could very likely end up just like the last highly sought after college FA who went on to be over hyped and bounce around the NFL (can't remember his name but bounced around with the ducks and oilers outcome)
  22. Hows that such a bad deal for the Panthers? He's 20 and is going to get better. I can't see that being a bad deal for them
  23. hope so too,one reason why I wouldn't mind Bernier, he showed potential with LA, and Toronto usually isn't a good place to judge goalies. I think outside of TO he could be good. I'm sure there's guys out there that might surprise. I just can't think of any off the top of my head.
  24. I wonder if it's the opposite and Florida leaves Luongo unprotected. At his age and price, they may pass on him, or they take him and his contract off the PA there hands to get a name they can market and Reamer gets the starting spot
  25. I can't even think of who would be available in a trade as a backup, maybe one of Dallas' guys or Jimmy Howard in Detroit. Those guys cost a bit though. I would take Bernier off the Leafs hands because I think he might be good out of TO
