  1. I know Pegula doesn't own teh webster block, but he also isn't currently leasing it from the City either. So in negotiations the Bills are asking that part of the lease agreement includes renovations, they still don't own the stadium themselves, so your saying that Ralph should have to pay to upgrade something he isn't the owner of? Would you pay your own money for repairs and upgrades to an apartment or condo you are renting/leasing or would you tell the owner that they should be paying to upgrade things? Yes paldino has some properties that he hasn't done anything with, but he also has stuff that he got done, it all depends, like almost all developpers, on the roadblocks in place holding them back. If his proposal is approved, I would have just as much faith in him getting it done as I do TP doing it because when developpers get approvals to do what they want that helps them make money, they do it. This is a high profile, big reward investment, without any roadblocks, it will get done.
  2. Ralph doesn't own his stadium, the county/government owns it and its part of their lease agreement. If TP had nothing to do with the project and say for example, it was Quinns proposal to build the TP Proposal against Paladino, would everyone here still be in favour of it?
  3. Would the Devils have messed with and ran another teams goalie? So the other team has a guy who takes a run at your goalie and injures him, so to show you won't take that, you make a run at the biggest guy on their team that can handle taking a hit or a beating to show them that you won't be messed with? Yeah, I'm sure that would have taught the Bruins a lesson if someone (or even the entire team for that matter) skated over and gave Chara a good hard check into the boards. There were 2 options for the Sabres teams to do after that hit. They wither turn around and go "Eye for an Eye" and run Thomas, or they send guys out to hit and fight Lucic.
  4. You could call it art because of the way it piled up as it fell and it becomes an attraction/landmark
  5. I actually agree with you on this, although I'm not surprised that the majority would side with TPs idea, no matter what it would be. Either option is really subsidising rich investors.
  6. That cost is basically free if you just stop maintaining it for a few years.......
  7. Yeah, and delivering a hard check to Chara is really going to show the Bruins that you can't mess with our Goalie!
  8. So sending guys out to go hit Chara, who had nothing to do with the hit is OK, but sending them after Thomas, Bostons goalie, is not allowed? Atleast going after Thomas says to the other team that if you run our goalie, we run yours. Going after Chara does nothing except makes you look like your trying to make the other team think your tougher by going after the biggest guy on the ice. That only works if you actually beat down Chara though
  9. The guy obviously has not intentions of leaving Phoenix, but he wants to make sure that they are going to stay with a new owner. He doesn't want to continue to play with the ownership mess/issues going on overshadowing the team and is giving the potential new owner the chance to show him they are serious and a deal is final before he re-signs. If the deal falls through then he is gone, and more then likely so is the team as I believe even Bettman has said if this deal doesn't work out, the league would be looking for other options including relocation. The league needs to continue trying to make southern teams work if they want to grow the game and compete with the other major sports leagues. The problem in Phoenix has been that in tha last 5+ years, they have had instability at ownership which kept them from having a competitive team, they built a new arena in a poor location, and are in one of the worst hit areas when the economy/housing buble burst. What the team needs is some stability in the ownership with someone who is willing to spend a little to put a competitive team on the ice and get fans interested. When theres issues in the ownership and threats of relocation, it drives fans away. For an example, look at the Sabres during the end of the Rigas era when they went bankrupt. Fans were staying away and it wasn't until they went on the run after the lockout that the fans came back and a waiting list was put in place for season tickets. It does appear that if this deal does not go through (and its not looking like a sure thing), the Coyotes days are numbered. Then it will be a race to see what city can get a new arena done and a group of investors in place to grab them. Seems like the front runners right now would be Quebec City (groups of investors are being assembled, arena being propsed with plans being put into place), Kansas City (arena already in place, not sure if theres investors ready though), Seattle, and maybe Hartford (heard there was an investor looking to bring the Whalers back). Some might bring Hamilton up, but I think the Leafs and Sabres will keep that from happening, and Jim Basillie has been blacklisted from the NHL ownership club (although now he has the time to devote more of it to an NHL club since RIM threw him out)
  10. I understand the dislike of somerumors/information being posted by the less reputable "sources" like Eklund, but this is a rumor thread The recent debate between whats is a rumor seems to have some people mixing up rumors with insider information. Chz, you made the comment about the tweet being after Rutherford said on the radio they were interested in Semin. Thats one of the main ways how rumors are formed. Someone hears something somewhere, then they pass it on.
  11. That all depends on the market I think and if his goal is to win a cup before he retires. If his goal in this deal is to get on a team to win the cup, the Rangers or Flyers aren't out just because they are a large market Only way its a selling point is if they were close and are good friends, then that might help. Otherwise its probably not going to matter. Just because they were teammates at one point doesn't mean that he will want to go to that team
  12. Money isn't everything to some players (I know, sounds rediculous with what they get paid), And Doan sounds more like IF he is going to leave Phoenix, its going to be to a place he feels comfortable going to and either a place thats a serious contender (Philly or NY) or to somewhere that he has a connection/family (Montreal since he is Prices Cousin). Its quite possible that he isn't interested in going to Buffalo because he has no tie there and doesn't want to go somewhere new/unfamiliar at this point in his career unless he is quaranteed a shot at the cup. Personally, unless the Jamison deal for the 'Yotes completely collapses, he is staying in Phoenix.....
  13. well, then thats it, we all know that he is a Yankee now then............Baseball needs a salary cap!
  14. But Ralph is Cheap! As for the players, as bad as this is going to sound, I don't think this is really special to just Buffalo. Pro Athletes and sports teams are always working with charities. We had a photo of Boston Bruins players dressed in some embarrassing Halloween costumes
  15. try - http://easternlettering.net If you can't find the Remparts on the site directly, email their contact line directly and you can talk to someone and they probably have it. Thats what I did with the Hasek jersey
  16. That is pretty cool, Thurman should have retired a Bill though. Guess the Sabres just respected his play so much that they decided to let him retire from a team and sport he never played! thats Darcys reason for turning him down, they are happy with Miller/Enroth (unlike so many of the fans)If he stays available and one of the 2 go down for an extended period of time, If I was Darcy, I would be giving him a call before going to Rochester or waiver wire
  17. Are you looking for a place just to get the lettering and numbering from or somewhere that you can get the sewing done too? I have used a place online a bunch of times to order the nameplates (presewn) along with the iron on numbers which you can take to a local seamstress to have sewn on (you place the nameplate and numbering on yourself with an iron, then take it in and they sew it in place). I did this for a hockey jersey for my ice hockey team, a custom Leafs (I know, I know, it felt dirty) jersey for my fiancee and I am doing it for a Hasek Czech Rep. Jersey. It can be expensive to do (sometimes its cheaper to have it done where you buy the jersey from if they do personalisation) and you have to check with the sewing place if they can do heavy duty (if the numbering is multi colour/layers) and do the Zig-Zag stitch on their machines. Nice thing with this place is they have the colour and lettering/numbering match for all pro sports teams and you can order replacement name plates so you can change your Roy to Ott
  18. A player may have also signed or been traded from a previous cup winner and had touched it at that time. Or, like me, maybe they went to the HOF in Toronto and touched it on display? (I did, unfortunatly the guy standing by the door didn't look like he would allow me to scratch my name into it) As for the first plaque defaced? Most deserving may be Slava Kozlov. I'm assuming they are going to have to continue replacing Tim Connollys due to it breaking everytime someone goes near it..........
  19. If they are going to miss significant time, yes I sign him for the season to fill in as the backup if he can show he still can play. He was still playing in the KHL up until last season.
  20. Which all depends on what you are trying to do. If you are looking to win now, or very soon, you want Pavelski and Clowe. If you are rebuilding and don't think you are going to be in a position to compete for a few years, you keep Ennis, Armia and McNabb. The Sabres aren't in a full rebuild, and aren't as far away as some might think. They are more in a position to compete now, then they are to compete in a few years
  21. You won't believe what he could get them to throw in if he bats his eyelashes while saying it
  22. I wouldn't dispute Hasek, my comment was more about anyone else, saying they will add a player every year
  23. I will probably get associated with TSC for my comment (or atleast just viewed as one of the "negative Nancies" around here, but are there really many players in the Sabres history that deserve statues? The Sabres franchise history only includes 2 SCF appearances, and no cups. Besides maybe stautes for guys that have had their numbers retired (although some have argued that they have been a little loose when it comes to requirements to retire a number here) and Hasek, the Sabres haven't really had a Gretzky, Lemieux, Michael Jordan, etc type of player, and they don't have a team history like the original 6 teams with Stanley cup teams. It just seems like they are trying to make the team and its history out to be bigger then it is.
  24. Because Darcy asks nicely and says Pretty Please?
  25. i'm guessing he was the guy who still tried to pick up the supermodel thin girls at the bar for that contest, instead of their much larger friend?
