  1. I really should have watched last year's episodes again before this season started. I've found I forgot a few things that happened. What is so important about the ricin at this point? Even though we saw Walt go back to retrieve the ricin in the first episode this year, I thought he had it in the first place, not Jesse. When did Jesse get his hands on it again? And why does Jesse care if he was about to leave for good anyways?

  2. It's interesting at least a tiny bit: formerly great goaltender is nearly battled out by an up-and-comer, and asks for a trade to escape the situation, but it's the up-and-comer that gets traded, and now he must re-find his will to play for the team whom he was ready to abandon. It's not relevant to the Sabres in any way, but I'll keep a very loose eye on how this goes for Vancouver. It's a rare situation, albeit one that doesn't deserve all of the Canadian media attention it gets. Can Luongo battle on, or is he ultimately resigned to his previously presumed fate: doomed?

I guess it's interesting in the "it's a mildy interesting sports story" sense, not an "I give a ######" sense.

Perhaps I'm just more sick of it than most because he cried just as much when he played down here. It just didn't get national attention like it does now.

  3. Heh. At least there are tons of tag places, so as long as you pick your spot registering your car will only be a 20-minute process. My wife just did her switch a month or three ago. Don't remember it being that bad, but we had a BC, passport, marriage license, and some stuff (magazines) with her name on them. And I was there, with my existing PA license. I don't remember it being that bad the first time around, but that was long enough ago (2005) that the federal checks on licenses weren't in place yet. (hint: I'm betting if you were a new NYS resident it'd be just as bad).

Complaint: the new WGR Android app. Seems they forgot the quit/close button again so it's always running. Coupled with the new, more invasive privs, it's uninstalled now.

The quit button as located in the scolling taskbar at the bottom. It's all the way to the right.

  4. The Bills could have, and actually still could although no reason to now, negotiate a 1 year deal and offered;

    1) more then the $6.9

    2) less then the $6.9 but with agreement not to re-tag next year

    3) just agree not to re-tag to get him to come in

Clearly now both sides still aren't happy but a lot can change over the next 16 weeks or so

    http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/7/3/4487308/franchise-tag-deadline-july-15-ryan-clady-jairus-byrd

This is basically the way I understood it. I was under the impression that since a long term deal wasn't reached that Byrd was guaranteed the $6.9mil/1 year contract if he decided to take it. If he didn't he was still "property" of the Bills but under no obligation to play therefore he could not be fined.

  5. Of course it's not coincidental,

The Bills didn't blink and he came in at the last possible moment without jeopardizing any part of his full year's salary. It's just business.

Correct me if I'm wrong, and there is a good chance I am, but didn't the deadline pass over a month ago where they could no longer negotiate? As far as I know, the only other option available in the last month is another team could offer Byrd a contract and if the Bills didn't match then they would recieve two 1st round picks. If that's the case, nobody in their right mind would waste that much on Byrd, and I think him and his agent know that.

  6. Naturally, but that wasn't the point. Sitting out of camp doesn't make someone a cancer who needs to be purged, especially when they're one of the best players in the league at their position.

So what makes Byrd a cancer?

It was the only leverage he had to try to force the long term deal he wanted, and after July 15 to try to force a better 1 year deal for himself that included a clause not allowing the tag next year. The Bills were content to allow him to sit it out.

I agree with that, somewhat. But don't you find the timing to be a bit too coincidental?

  7. Does the NFL credit individual players with wins/loses? I thought only coaches get credit for wins/loses.

The NFL credits QB's with wins and losses. Officially, yes, Juju is correct and I went back and corrected myself that I wasn't talking about a QB's record when they start. So officially Kolb was 3-2 last year. I don't agree with the way the NFL credits a QB with win/loss. Kolb was credited with a loss in a game he wasn't participating in when they lost, and he wasn't credited with a win in a game in which he lead the winnning drive and threw the winning TD.

Sorry to everybody involved for the confusion.

  8. Byrd is a cancer that needs to be cut, but Kolb is a good QB? I'll have what you're having.

I never said he was a good QB. I never said he was bad. I was criticizing the fact that people were passing judgement based on one half, while at the same time this board was mocking the Bills board for doing the exact same thing with Tuel. Kolb didn't have anything to work with in Arizona and he was arguably better than Vick in Philly. He's with a new team, to pass judgement on him after a half is silly. To listen to the BFLO media critique Kolb while swinging from Manuel's nuts is just as silly.

Again, Kolb was only 3-2, even with the Cardinals defense playing so well. He put up a combined 16 points on the Rams and Bills, two teams not known for their defense last year. You seem to think there's some sort of proof here that Kolb is a quality QB, and there isn't any.

He was 4-1. He gets credit for the first win, and he doesn't get the loss against the Bills. Familiarize yourself with how players are credited with wins and losses.

Did I mention their record after he got hurt?

  9. He played in one drive of the first game. The defense is the reason Arizona did so well to start last year, keeping the Patriots and Seahawks under 20 and the Eagles at a paltry 6. The highest QB rating allowed by the Cards' D in those first 4 games was 86.5 to Ryan Tannehill. Even Brady failed to crack 80. And Arizona was losing to Buffalo when he left with his injury.

Their defense must have decided to stop playing for the rest of the season the exact same time Kolb got hurt.

    bills just cut lindell. woah.

If they're wiping the slate clean, make Byrd the next one to go. Cut out the cancer.

  10. He was 3-2 as a starter, with only 1 game above 85 QBR.

You're right. However, he won the first game of the year for them in relief, and he wasn't in the game when they lost to the Bills. I worded it incorrectly, word it however you like. He was the QB when they won the first four games.

  11. You have the wrong Kevin Kolb in both instances.

How about 2011 in Arizona when he was 2-6 as a starter, and they were 6-2 without him starting (technically he started one of these games...but he completed 1 pass for 2 yards before getting hurt)?

Wrong place at the wrong time.

  12. Yes, a half of football. And training camp. And his time in Arizona. He's looked equally bad in all situations.

Is this the same Kolb that played on an Eagles team that couldn't win until he started? Or is it the Kolb that played on an Arizona team that couldn't win until he started?

  13. So all the Kolb haters are basing this off of one half? Hell, if that's the case then Tuel should be starting.

Knee procedure? Ouch! He could be done for a lot longer than the pre-season. The regular season starts in about 3 weeks.

Ladies and Gentlemen of Buffalo, preeee-senting your Franchise QB. LOLOLOL!!!!!

You know, I watched that first pre-season Bills game - and I was very impressed with Manuel..... it seemed too good to be true for the Bills to have a REAL quarterback after 10 years of friggin' SCRUBS..... Rob Johnson, JP Loseman, Trent Edwards, Ryan Blitzpatrick..... and where are they now? LOLOL

At any rate - it seemed too good to be true -and it WAS too good to be true. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! One of my best friends is a hardcore Bills fan - he was so happy after that first pre-season game- can't wait to rib him about Manuel. :)

It was too good to be true? Seriously? Because of a minor knee procedure? Took advantage of Happy Hour didn't ya? smilie%2055.gif

  14. I love it. Young team having fun. This coaching staff really has them feeling confident.

I have to say, I was very impressed. I know it's only pre-season but everybody looked like they came to play. Cool to see Tuel do well, I'm really surprised coach went no-huddle with two rookie QB's. Tuel was calling an awful lot of audibles too. It's early, but I like what I've seen.

  15. I hate reporters sometimes. I realize they have certain questions they have to ask, but at the same time, don't they also have to recognize when they've gotten all they're going to get in response and move on to something else?

Of course they do, and if they drop it at that point they won't be getting any attention. Most of them don't care about integrity any more.

  16. The guy Marrone locked horns with wasn't a Buffalo/Rochester reporter -- it was an AP writer.

With the benefit of some distance from the kerfluffle, I will say that it didn't take much for a reporter to get Marrone's dander up. If your $100M man is away from training camp without any meaningful explanation, you as coach can and should expect a bunch of questions. Even questions THAT AREN'T LEGITIMATE QUESTIONS.

Well now, I stand corrected. Still doesn't surprise me that Sullivan and Harrington were the first ones to jump on it and talk about it all day. I just think they were upset they weren't the ones to set him off.

  17. He sounds pretty awesome when he's angry. I think he'll be a heck of a lot better than Gailey.

In the recent past, Ruff, Rolston, Pegula and now Marrone have all gotten into spats with the BFLO media. I saw Harrington crying about it yesterday on Twitter. Maybe the unprofessional douchebags that is the BFLO media needs to look in the mirror before blaming somebody else
