Presuming a vet goalie is brought in, it is almost definite that one of UPL or Comrie gets traded.  Would expect that UPL is more likely to get traded as he has more upside so presumably teams would want him more than Comrie.  And as he has more upside would expect it would be less likely for him to clear waivers if he were the 3rd goalie left in the or-gan-I-za-tion.

A 2nd or 3rd is most likely what he'd be worth if he isn't part of a package for 1 of those 4 pieces the Sabres should be looking for (top 4 D, veteran goalie, another 5/6 D, & vet 4C that's good on faceoffs and PK).  And pretty much only expect 2 of those 4 pieces brought in though am still hoping Adams grabs all 4.

I was implying that trading UPL or Comrie could happen without acquiring a veteran goalie.

I was interested to read in the Athletic that goalie Dan Vladar of the Flames is being shopped and is expected to return a 2nd round pick.

He’s turning 26 this summer and had put up an .899 save percentage over 55 NHL games, mostly as a Flames backup.

UPL is 2 years younger and has an .898 save percentage over 48 NHL games.

Its been clear to me for a while that if the Sabres bring in another goalie UPL is gone.

I wonder what his value is?

It would not shock me if UPL or Comrie got moved in a trade or as part of a larger trade. I think UPL probably would bring back a late 2nd or 3rd

    Just coming to post this.

They’re also reporting that “teams are calling on Duclair but Florida doesn’t want to give him up” which is Lebrun speak for a GM wanting to convince a trade partner to pull the trigger.

Calgary needs scoring wingers, so I don’t mind connecting dots.

Is Duclair more attractive than Olofsson? If so, how much? What are the other pieces involved?

As Brawndo said the Sabres have a ton of trade currency Florida doesn’t have.

I think the decision to trade Hanifin now has been made and it’s just about Calgary maximizing the return.

I read the item as saying the Sabres and the Panthers are the final suitors. I think Hanifin is an excellent fit.

Let’s see if Adams can pull this off.

Hanifan would be a beer fit if he was right shot. Peace is looking for 8 years 52 million. I think that’s too long a term given his age and injury history.

The Z and KO signings should end all debate on where Greenway slots next season.  Jordan will be on the 3rd line with Mitts.  The only real question is who will be the 3rd member of that line; Krebs, VO, Savoie, Kulich, Rousek or someone from outside the organization.

I think it’s Krebs at Center with Mitts and Greenway.

@freester  Apparently disagrees please tell me how the 3rd time is going to work ?

Please read GASabresIUfans long post earlier. Essentially the Thrashers owners had no interest in hockey and were just interested in purchasing the Hawks and the Arena but were forced to include the Thrashers. They all hated each other and sued each other multiple times. They spent only the minimum on hockey. A new arena on the north suburban area with great ownership would be a huge success. Idk if there is a rich owner who wants a team in Atlanta.

Off-season gameplan forwards - The Plan - 1. Trade VO for whatever KA can get. A 2nd rd pick may be enough.  2. Re-sign Girgensons and Jost. 3. Sign UFA Eric Haula for the 3rd or 4th line center job (2 years 3.5 per season).  Haula is an excellent 2-way player who can score and wins faceoffs.  Rousek and Kulich will be the 1st 2 recalls. Cap-wise trading VO and leaving Rousek in Rochester is a wash for adding Haula and bringing back Z.  (cap cost approx 44.850)

    lIne 1 Skinner TnT Tuch

    line 2 JJP Cozens Quinn

    line 3 Mitts Haula Savoie

line 4 Girgensons Krebs Greenway (Jost)

Off-season gameplan defense - The Plan - 1. Trade/Waive Bryson.  2. Trade Jokiharju for a good D prospect. 3. Acquire Joel Edmondson from Montreal. Joel is 29 and has 2 years left on his contract. Adding Orlov and Edmondson while subtracting Joki and Bryson would add about 5.65 to the cap bringing the cost of the D group to 25.3

    A. Dahlin Samuelson

    B. Power Orlov

    C. Edmondson Lyubushkin

    D. Stillman

Off-season gameplan Goaltender -  The Plan - 1. Move on from one of UPL or Comrie and send the other down to Rochester.  2. Signed Adin Hill to a 3-year deal at 3.5 per season.  Adding Hill while trading UPL and waiving Comrie to Rochester would bring the cost of the goalies to $5.125. (3.5 for Hill, .925 for Levi and .7 retained for Comrie.)

    Total team cost approx 75.28.

UPL can’t go to Rochester without being subjected to waivers and he would definitely get claimed.

Only 9K Season tix sold. Any and all teams can buy from the other 8000+ tix. Cheap even with CAD.

Until Sabres can draw more folks to buy seasons.... here we are....

I didn’t realize there were so many habs fans nearby or that are willing l to travel to see bad teams on a Monday night.
