Why do you say Buffalo cannot support 2 Pro teams?

Buffalo absolutely can.  There are what, 7-8 million people within a 90 minute drive?  (I drive to Toronto in 90 minutes.  If it takes you longer, well, maybe I will teach you my secrets for a fee.)

People who base statements like this based upon US demographics or US TV market share don't quite get it.

Good thing it's still under warranty.  With the labor, even if it's just the gasket that needs to be replaced and the heads and block are fine it'd be at least $1k.  Could be a full short block replacement in a worst case.  $$$.

Well, I've been threatening to "blow a gasket" for decades now, and I guess I finally did.  I blew my cool.  I flipped my lid!

Did the engine overheat? Typically it occurs because the heads in the engine warp from overheating and the gaskets are no longer sealed properly. 2nd reason is the gasket material just broke down, either way it's a 75 dollar piece of synthetic felt looking stuff that keeps your oil and coolant from mixing.

You need to take the engine apart to see them, so it's very labor intensive, then see if the gasket can just be replaced without the heads being machined down or have new ones ordered.

Why it's taking that long is a mystery but it's a PITA job.

No one has qualified mechs now is my best guess,

And thank you for the explanation--this car is less than 5 yrs and fewer than 40K.

But it's at the dealer now, and I took full advantage of the fact that I had to Uber home anyway.  You get it....

Gotta bump it or something?  CTRL-F yielded nothing on my front page, which is at least 25 topics.

I expect Davis, Elam, and Espensa to be gone by next season.  Davis could have a great year and even then he'll be too expensive to keep.  Elam could get a 3rd year, because he's cheap, but if Benford has a good season, they'll be no reason to keep him.

Epenesa might stick.  But otherwise, I've seane what neade to from Beane.

However, he also gave us Ford, Moss, Basham, Espensa, Elam, and even Singletary and Gabe Davis.  These guys are mostly busts or starters out of necessity but don't really elevate the team.

How many of them are even on the team?  How many will be in two years?  Gabe Davis has to be the worst WR2 in the league.  Elam is tenuous.  Moss, Ford, Basham, Singletary, already gone.  I'm sure Beane is very happy for the late round picks he got for them.  Epenesa is ok--solid for what he does.

Especially when people exactly like you (and me) hated the pick so much

That's exactly why it should be given less weight, frankly.  Other than Mel Kiper (who gets a LOT wrong), draft pundits (who also get a LOT wrong) panned it.  Beane got very, very lucky there.  And I'm glad he did.  But let's also not forget that Mahomes was right there for the Bills the year before (I do not think Beane had been hired yet, though), and while the Bills got an excellent CB out of that, it's not really the same as a QB with two Super Bowl rings.  (I believe the other returns from the trade--Edmunds and then some complicated thing with the Rams that I can't quite trace--are gone.)

So great.  Beane drafted Allen.  He hasn't done very well since, regardless of what some inscrutable chart says.

Well I don't see Pegula having any special power either, just wealth. He's not an original six owner, not a legacy owner, not an owner of a big market high profile team. Not a shiny new owner or a flashy Vegas type market owner. Just some rich guy snowed under near a lake. League could not care less if Buffalo had a team or not.

The person II don't remember who it was) who referred to the "powerful owner" was referring to Jacobs, not Pegula.

This was a draft analysis done from the 2018 through the 2021 drafts. The Bills finished 3rd. They have finished near the top every single time I've seen someone analyze drafts since Beane got here. Second round woes aside (their 2nd rounder this year looks like he can develop into a pro bowler, and quickly) Bills fans have untethered themselves from reality over the last 8 months

Yes, there exist examples of physically painful picks when player X or player Y is available. That's how it works. When you quantify the value you draft regardless of this, the Bills do well. It's why they're ***** elite for ****'s sake

What does it even mean?  That some guy thought that the Bills did the 6th best job with their first round picks in those years, the 28th best job with the second round pick, etc.?  If that's what it is, well, first, it's subjective, second, it doesn't fully cover the relevant time period, and third, it's skewed (for first round) because of Allen.  If it's something else, please tell me.

As much as Beane has built a SB contender, he has gaffed his way from getting us over the top with some suspect drafting since. Ford, Basham. Epenessa, and Elam are completely wasted picks top picks.  There were players available that could of got us over the top.  Compare to what KC did to address their needs, made some bold moves, and won a SB. Beane is also spending too much on aging players and we are headed for cap hell.

The drafting is outrageously horrible.  Fire every scout and start over, or fire Beane and start over.

Nothing violent here, just the truth without concern for how it will be taken.

There certainly were other options but the way he describes it is accurate.

Not the issue.  There are ways for journalists, or even sportswriters, to cover those who are ill, in a sensitive and gentle manner.  Graham didn't.

Whether he was accurate or truthful wasn't the point.  We already think he was accurate and truthful.

I’m usually quick to join a dog pile on Timmay Graham, but, in this case, it seems like he gave a tough but fair assessment of the Pegulas’ affairs after Kim became disabled.

But … yeah. Maybe being “tough” here isn’t all that defensible. 🤷‍♂️

I don't subscribe, so all I saw was the quote.  Maybe, in context, it is a gentler expression.

But he doesn't have a lot more on his plate. They got rid of it all.

None of the Kim projects were panning out - including the Sabres.

She bit off more than she could chew - which I think she was criticized for here by some when it began. It's too bad it took her being stricken for them to finally admit defeat and change course.

There's no shame in shooting for the stars and hitting the moon.

It's not unreasonable to think that KP was the driving force for the greater Pegula media/product empire, and if she's no longer capable of running it day to day it would be jettisoned. I can't see TP being the guy for the ancillary stuff (music, products, etc.) at his age. If the whole thing was going like gangbusters they'd find someone to continue it, but I don't get the feeling it's going anywhere.

Side note: If the Healthy Scratch restaurant served up fresh-made whole foods it's a fantastic name. And I can see why it failed in Buffalo, especially at a sports venue; Buffalo eats some *unhealthy* food.

    1.  Yeah, that wasn't his passion, it was hers, and sadly, she's not able to carry it out right now.  So it's time to put it on the shelf.

    2.  If they had put Healthy Scratch within walking distance of businesses other than HarborCenter and one law firm, it may have succeeded.  Sue's Juicery Elmwood does (did?  my experience was pre-COVID) an amazing business even though it's behind a federal security gate, because there are enough businesses within walking distance.  But trying to get hockey dads to eat their sprouts and drink kale smoothies at the rink on the weekend is doomed to fail.
