  1. Vanek is only "elite" in the offensive end finishing/scoring. the rest of his game is very weak starting with leadership and defensive responsibility.
  2. this is a great trade for buffalo. darcy will NOT be the GM for the 2014 draft. they will keep him around until miller is dealt, then he gets fired.
  3. now on pace for 32 points. dead last in league standings. two nearest teams have 4 (NYR) & 3 (PHI) games in hand.
  4. after last nights win, we are on pace for 34 points. Fewest points in a season (league): 24, by the 1974-75 Washington Capitals. Previous worst season (sabres): 1971/72 (16-43-19; 51 pts)
  5. Buffalo Sabres Well on Their Way to Some Undesirable Records: Fewest points in a season: 24, by the 1974-75 Washington Capitals. This expansion team won only eight of 80 games. It started that season 1-8-1, but those were in the days of ties. By those standards, Buffalo would have started this year 0-7-2 – a worse start than the start to the worst season ever. Fewest wins: 8, by the 1974-75 Caps. Buffalo's pace would match that. Most losses: 71, by the 1992-93 San Jose Sharks. That expansion team ended up winning 11 times, thanks in part to a longer 84-game season. Buffalo's pace would bring it within range of this mark, including overtime losses. Fewest goals: 133, by the 1953-54 Chicago Blackhawks. This was in a 70-game season that saw Chicago win 12 times. That pace of 1.9 goals per game is blistering compared to Buffalo's current pace (13 goals in 10 games, or 1.3 goals per game). In fact, even giving Buffalo the extra 12 games that it will play this year over that Blackhawks team, Buffalo would still shatter this record with about 107 goals. Worst away record: 1-41-0, by the 1992-93 Ottawa Senators. Another expansion squad was involved in setting this mark. Buffalo is 1-3-0 on the road this year, so this record should be safe. But the Sabres have yet to win at home (0-5-1). Most shutout losses: 16, by the 2006-07 Columbus Blue Jackets. Over an 82-game season, that's good for a pace of 19.5 percent. The Sabres have been shut out twice this far this season, good for a 20 percent pace that wold break this record by one. Worst power play percentage: 9.35 percent, by the 1997-98 Tampa Bay Lightning. Buffalo's power play is clicking at a league-worst 8.6 percent clip this season. http://www.sportsmedia101.com/buffalosabres/2013/10/22/buffalo-sabres-well-on-their-way-to-some-undesirable-records/
  6. just got home from game....that was god awful. Zadorov only bright spot. even without the goal, he played a good game.
  7. playing on TUESDAY is the key to success ? we have gotten 3 of a possible 4 points when playing on Tuesday.
  8. The crowd in First Niagara Center saw the Sabres make more dubious history. Buffalo fell to 1-7-1, matching the 1993-94 edition for worst nine-game start in the franchise record book. http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/sabres-nhl/slow-starting-sabres-outclassed-by-canucks-20131017
  9. even if we finish dead last in the league, we only have a 25% chance of picking first overall with the new draft lottery rules (previously was 48%).
  10. this team will go down as the worst in franchise history. lowest wins. lowest goals scored. Previous worst season: 1971/72 (16-43-19; 51 pts)
  11. after miller and vanek are moved you will have ZERO talent.
  12. OTT - C VANEK - A MYERS - A
  13. rumor has it that Darcy is holding out for the 4 first round draft choices he could of had from Edmonton, like the last time he was figuring out what to do with Vanek.
  14. breaking news.... sabres upgrade locker room......again.
  15. ESPN ranks Sabres draft the best: Buffalo Sabres: A+ Rasmus Ristolainen and Nikita Zadorov gives Buffalo two elite-sized, gritty D-men with picks No. 8 and No. 16 and, over time, will have a major impact on the back end. The blue line was a big need for the Buffalo system, and they addressed it as well as they could with their first two selections. In the second round, the Sabres add skilled, blue-collar forward J.T. Compher, and two big hard working forwards in Connor Hurley from Edina High School and Justin Bailey from Kitchener of the OHL -- both give added size. This was a really strong draft for the Sabres. http://insider.espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/9439956/2013-nhl-draft-grades-buffalo-sabres-get-top-marks?refresh=true&refresh=true
  16. Miller is ELITE !! as evidenced by his save percentage during shootouts. mano v mano , no other teamies influencing the stat. amongst goalies with 10 or more save attempts, he ranks 3rd best in the entire league. http://espn.go.com/nhl/statistics/player/_/stat/goaltending/sort/shootoutSavePct/seasontype/2
  17. #1 - Rick Dudley #2- Don Luce #3 - Brian Burke all have better credentials and track record than Darcy.
  18. Advanced Stats Say Sabres May Have Been NHL's Worst Team http://www.wgr550.com/Advanced-Stats-Say-Sabres-May-Have-Been-NHL-s-Wors/16193352 "The Sabres had good goaltending" "The Sabres actually received good goaltending from Ryan Miller and Jhonas Enroth" "Also if the Sabres are able to work out a contract extension with Ryan Miller, it should be considered. He's one of the best EV goalies since the lockout"
  19. Miller faced 42 shots.....more than any of the 19 other goalies who played tonight. Save % of .952 NOT just an average goalie.
  20. it was suggested that the team might be able to do something better with the $6 mil we pay miller. i'm suggesting there is about $15 million worth of unproductive contracts that should be taken care of before miller.
  21. you can add $1,250,000 @ Kaleta (he's a knucklehead who produced 1 whole point all year, he can take his carruba collision trophy and go home, I must admit I am amused by him, but he adds little value other than drawing the occasional penalty). you need a couple more steve ott's instead.
  22. before getting to miller, how bout clearing out the following: $4,500,000 @ Leino $4,000,000 @ Stafford $2,800,000 @ Ennis $1,450,000 @ Gerbe $1,250,000 @ Hecht $14,000,000 @ TOTAL
  23. to my eye, the 5 best sabres for this season, in order, are: #1- Ott #2- Miller #3- Ehrhoff #4- Weber #5- Vanek
