Don't forget a bunch of 1st round picks
-
There are at least half a dozen "names" that would take the job for a sizable contact, knowing they can retire comfortably after a season and a half. Bruce Boudreau is one.

We had the #1 rated prospect pool when Tim Murray was GM. He promptly traded most of them away for magic beans. Now that Adams has restored that pipeline people want him to act like Tim Murray again.

Kulich and Levi? How many Amerks have have you watched this year?

We have the talent. What we don't have...
PromoTheRobot replied to RETURNTOGLORY's topic in The Aud Club
We have the talent. We don't have consistency. We tend to fall back into poor decisions. Take Tampa's first goal last night. Dahlin has a safe outlet pass along the board, but instead decided to skate through two Lightning forecheckers. -
The Bills were never doing to make the playoffs again, too. Sadly, all things must pass. Even beloved playoff droughts.
-
Maybe not the Rangers but what about the Lightning in a best-of-7 series? Sabres are 5-1 in their last 6 against them
-
I tend to scan posts so I'm prone to doing that. Sorry. The Sabres have had 7 coaches in this 13 year drought. The urge to get #8 is strong amongst fans, but it isn't going to happen.

The team isn't bad. The team is underachieving considering the talent level it possesses.

You are citing how long it took to move Jack Eichel, a player with a bum neck that needed a surgery few NHL players ever had, and who had $50MM remaining on his contract, as proof of his ineffectiveness as a GM. That is absolutely comical. Totally ignoring the level of difficulty of even obtaining a bag of pucks for Eichel in that state. (Which is what several posters were willing to take in trade.)
-
Really??? That's your criticism?
-
It absolutely is possible, but he isn't in the form you suggested; an established reliable backup. Backup goalie isn't a job like an NFL backup QB is. In the NHL you are always fighting to be a starter. Backups are starters-in-waiting or journeymen who play on new teams every season until eventually get replaced by younger goalies. So I'm not sure why you want to roll the dice on a goalie who might get good when you need them, but probably not, or just playing your starter-in-waiting as a 1B in Devon Levi.

Let's talk draft position. A Sabres win locks up the 11th pick. A loss and they could be anywhere between 11 and 8. NJ, CGY and SEA could jump past us. How does that impact lottery odds? 11 = 3% 10 = 3.5% 9 = 5% 8 = 6% It's also weird that the NHL regular season continues for 3 more days after Buffalo is done.

My point is what you "reasonably" want is doesn't really exist.

What exactly is a "proven NHL backup?" Eric Comrie fit that description in Winnipeg.

I have a question. If you bought the single team AHL TV package, does that keep working through the playoffs, or do you have to pay for that too? Just googled that. No, it doesn't. Playoff are a separate subscription. So... 💸💸💸💸

My bad. You're right. BTW Utica plays it's final 3 games back-to-back-to-back. Rochester will have Saturday off.

It's going to be a crazy final week in the AHL. Crunch, Monsters, Amerks and Marlies all in range of the 1-seed. Comets, Rocket and Sens Fighting for the final spot in 5th. All teams have 3 games left except Laval with 2. Wed. Marlies @ Amerks. Fri. Monsters @ Amerks, Sun. Comets @ Amerks.
