Well I've played that position for years so I'm partial. There's an expectation that you are supposed to stop everything, even when it's not possible for human reaction time to move that fast. A goalie simply can't cover the entire net so a shooter that can exploit the openings will score. It's not an indictment of goalkeeping prowess. In fact half the time "amazing saves" are simply hitting the goalie and missing what's open. A good way to measure how amazing a save is how much a goalie moved to cover what was open when the shooter shot. But seriously the five guys on the ice don't get enough blame for their screw-ups that lead to goals.

I would disagree. He's won us far more games than lost. On the other hand I can point to DOZENS of turnovers every game that are prime scoring chances.

I think players got too reliant on Hutton and Ullmark standing on their heads to mask their defensive deficiencies. And just to be clear, when I say our defense sucks, I'm taking about all five skaters.

Our goalies might have one bad goal in ten. Meanwhile our defense has 7 or 8 blunders that lead to goals out of ten. I might be out on a limb but in going to say our defense sucks hard.

Meanwhile we scored 13 goals in those 3 games. 4.3 goals per game and went 1-2!!!! Pathetic defense, fer sher.

This team is a crap sandwich, in that we are pretty good and scoring and goaltending. Just the middle (defensive zoneplay) is crap.

He sure is. You can tell Duff and Marty are a little shocked. FYI I was in Rochester the night Val scored the winning goal to clinch the 1983 Calder Cup. He didn't score much but that was the biggest goal he ever scored.
