I'm not close to the facts. The environmental conditions disturb me. I'm left wondering. Was this discussed or considered when Rio was awarded the games? Was water quality overlooked? Were conditions fine and have they deteriorated? Is this really less of an issue, considered at the time of awarding, that we're now making more of an issue? It's a bad thing. Where'd it come from and when did we first see it?

Solely to keep the accounting accurate, I'm in and paid for three. If I'm incorrect, let me know! Awesome sauce ... -

My earliest, complete thought, SUMMER Olympics memories include the track and field Black Power salute in Mexico City (1968), the US - USSR Basketball theft and Mark Spitz owning the water in 1972 (Munich). The single most powerful memory is the Munich Massacre, or the Palestanian / Israeli terror attack. Jim McKay was the host of Wide World of Sports back when a single television program could be found in nearly every home. Think four channels, not 400, and a common national experience. The whole country sat and watched the terrible drama. For many of us, this was our first taste, feel, of terror. I was eleven and watching glorious athletes compete in games with a centuries old tradition dating back to mankind's democratic beginnings. The honor, the glory, the Olympics! Mankind's most noble aspirations on display. All I could do was ask "why" in the way that question is asked most poignantly, seeped in pain and confusion. Paradise lost.

You can't imagine what you saved me from .... Grateful. Fun fact - I couldn't get an apostrophe to stick. I wonder if it "self deleted" in my original tag.
-
Ok, before my head explodes ... who's going to tell me how to edit the Topic Tags so I can put an apostrophe into the contraction "There's"? Yes, it bothers me.

You just made me think!

To Hank and K9: I can be a d***. No, really, don't argue with me. I know you're shocked. I'm creating a verb, if I have Hank's permission. To wit: I should be "hanked" from time to time. I'm glad you're both here.

We're a few days away from the Summer Olympics. With the Vesey Watch stretching on, with Presidential Primaries over and the long road to the general election just starting, with Kane's court date re-heating the trade thread, and with it being AUGUST IN TAMPA, I thought I'd create a place for fun diversion. Because I'm a flaming capitalist, I'll link a medal prediction article, with some charts, prepared by none other than Goldman Sachs! No kidding, it's real and it's interesting. My must sees are woman's volleyball, women's gymnastics, men's basketball, men's track and field, and all swimming. There is no rhyme or reason in those choices. It probably has a lot to do with being raised in the USA. That would be a rhyme or reason, I guess. I digress. Hop aboard. I'd love to hear stories from your youths if you participated in any of these sports. http://www.businessinsider.com/goldman-sachs-2016-olympics-medal-predictions-2016-8

I am not, for the love of all things oblong, arguing the merits of a V.A. vs. privatization. I am, though, wondering if anyone else was struck by the similarity of the presentation to the anti-voucher education argument.

The benefit of the doubt I gave Wideman at the time (cognitive capacity and intent) remains with me today. The first portion of the video is damning. The second portion, where Wideman sits on the bench, is not damning, in my view. Call me naive. I just don't see a guy with any awareness of the trouble he's about to be in. There is no "oh, man" resignation or panic on his face. There's no exculpatory arguing or gesturing. I'm fine with 20, too. My best to Henderson.

Hank ... you may be the most free thinking person I know!

I think Claude's glasses are untinted. Pragmatism is down 3, and Idealism is up 3, in my personal Election Day Choice power ranking.

I did, too. Thank you ...

Good Mr Bobis. You take your lumps, that's for sure. You've earned a few, truth be told. Any desire to have at Eleven's question? You'll be challenged, no doubt. Probably criticized. I think, though, you can explain things from a point of view that others cannot. I'd read.

You may have missed my "proof is goofy" post. Well, her actions led to you and me having this back and forth on a Sunday afternoon. One or both of us should be able to make claim that ...
-
I almost stopped after "I don't dispute that it happened". With that, I can put any source, proof, lack of proof, conjecture, right wingnut or revisionist commentary into its appropriate context. The larger truth is shared among each of you, Bobis and me. We agree, favorite sources notwithstanding. Last word to you or Bobis.

Did we not establish that major networks ran, for months, with the general Clinton team vs. Bill's partners / victims in 1998 when this all came to light? Every major organization ran it. Everyone has their candidate. I have to be cognizant of, and honest about, opposition sources. What we're calling "that story" appeared everywhere. It remains, today, more frequently in the right. K9. It happened. It was sleazy. Women were smeared, made sluts, goldiggers, or lunatics, and shamed. It still appears, more often, in right leaning publications. It appeared in the NY Times and Wall Street Journal recently. No Clinton team member is defending or amending the record with regard to allegations. They'll call it old news. Anyone on the right indicating this is a legitimate issue is reasonable. It's among the first of the trust and truth issues associated with Ms. Clinton. She can be "your gal" without whitewashing the record or attacking the character and credibility of those who talk to the issue.

I think I called "prove she didn't" goofy.
-
You'll never get absolute proof. I don't know what lives were destroyed and didn't make that claim. I'll say something just as goofy. Prove she didn't. Unfortunately, we live in a world where few things are proved. I'll exercise reasonable judgment. The absence of absolute proof that she destroyed women's lives is a curious place to be when discussing a champion of women. Would you agree to "HRC was part of the team, and contributed her own words to those of surrogates, in a concerted effort to salvage Bill's career by slandering his partners and victims to the extent that their lives became unpleasant."? The CEO is boinking women that work for him. "Bimbo eruptions", surrogates, trailer parks, stalker loonies, ALL networks. Women's Champion. I can't connect the dots.
-
Not definitive, the final word, or proof .... but I lived it. I'm old. This was news on all networks and in all media. For your consideration. The New York Times .... just a random search by me. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/21/us/politics/90s-scandals-threaten-to-erode-hillary-clintons-strength-with-women.html?_r=1 I'll add the Wall Street Journal. http://www.wsj.com/articles/the-clinton-war-on-women-1451432109 The Brown Political Review. http://www.brownpoliticalreview.org/2016/03/26188/ I think the "right wing" feeling at the present comes from today's right not forgetting. It'll be on Fox today. It was in The NYTimes and everywhere circa 1998. It's real. This is hardly Faux News. It's a real issue, the ad hominem shut down approach fails, here, as it usually does. The email scandal was a right wing smear until the IG and FBI got involved. She may not be indicted, but I'd hoped the smear defense would die a quick, if painful, death. Want a feel for the woman's issues champion? Google YouTube Clinton Bake Cookies. Sneering condescension born in complete lack of understanding and empathy, hand in hand with her progressive "I know what's best for us" framework.

Gotta agree with Buff, here. Both Clintons and their surrogates trashed the women associated with Bill. That's not a Fox News creation. "If you drag a hundred dollar bill through a trailer park .." They'd have been roasted alive in the Patrick Kane thread.
