  1. I see Dino mentioned a lot in this thread. Don't know why but then again Tim Horton's is popular around here for some reason.
  2. I have no problem with those lines. JJP isn't being demoted so much as it looks like Meatballs is trying to spread scoring potential across all three lines. Unless you think DG is a fool and really believes JJP ought to be demoted. I think Donnie is trying to extend the philosophy behind the 1-3-1 system to where there are no top lines just 3 offensive lines plus 1 shutdown. We've seen that before although not from Meatballs.
  3. Wasn't the knock on Lindy at the time he stifled the offense by forcing the forwards to commit to defense?

  5. At least that conversation will be with someone who knows what good BBQ is.
  6. I never said Dallas. Thanks for playing, though!
  7. There is no best BBQ in WNY. Those aren't south enough. The only good BBQ in the country is south of Dallas/Ft. Worth.
  8. BREAKING NEWS: Sabres veteran defenseman Erik Johnson has been loaned to the Jacksonville Icemen. Kale Clague has been called up from the Rochester Americans to take Johnson's place. ***This is obviously satire.
  9. Levi played fine under the circumstances last night. I recognize he made some gaffs but that's because he shouldn't have played 4/4 games; he needed to have at least one of those off. Other than the gaffs he looks like he can keep us in games which is more than can be said about the other two.
  10. In all seriousness, I thought for a long while there the Sabres rose to the occasion. It seems to me they didn't know how to corral themselves and play with discipline. Johnson's comments are in that vein.
  11. Meatballs is on the clock. This is on him and his unwillingness to address defense.
  12. Johnson's post-game with Hamsammich was very telling, I think. It's like he really wanted to say they don't know how to play team defense at all. I think it's somewhat condemning of Meatballs.
  13. Whoever is b!tching about Clifton needs to stop.
  14. Seemed like both teams were pooped out at the end of that period. I bet the second looks different.
  15. So thrilled to see the boys do the opposite of sitting back and taking their beating.
  16. Sitting here glued to the TV. I wanted to type in that I was liking what I was seeing from the Sabres. They're starting to match Calgary's energy.
  17. It would get ugly. Yankees are incapable of good BBQ. That's a fact after decades of testing.
  18. This is the way. I submit that one additional standard would be their tortillas: the difference between a place that knows what it is doing versus the opposite is how the handle both flour and corn tortillas.
  19. @Pimlach and @Taro T you're both obviously correct. I have no quarrel with any of your points. I have no doubt, too, that a mentorship under Laviolette is probably exactly what Peca needs to develop into a head coach. And while Peca's personal story of being repeatedly drawn into the orbit of an organization only to exit that orbit on multiple occasions, developing his skills and self along the way, only to return once again as a learned and battle-hardened warrior leader will/would be cool, and in this world more realistic, I'd like to see a tale of loyalty and success - some narrative that would negate the entire Lindy affair. Would have been a great opportunity for that while taking a chance on a new voice addressing our clear deficiencies behind the bench.
  20. You're all about people having their opinion, but seem to be policing the opinions of others in this thread. Why can't you just let someone say they think the food sucks and scroll past it? That's their opinion.
  21. We tried El Palenque when they first opened up and were not impressed. They've been there a while, now, so they must be doing something right. We'll have to try them again.
  22. He was traded away by the Sabres as a player. They wouldn't promote him after his success with the Buffalo Junior Sabres. He went out and proved he could work at the pro level and subsequently took another gig "nearby" with the Amerks clearly trying to advance his coaching career. The Sabres wouldn't promote him again so he walked. Why would he choose to work for the Sabres after giving them so many chances? Did we not all wish the Sabres would have upgraded their assistant coaches and add someone who could help with the PP and overall defensive play? This is the same team that is starting a young, unproven goalie with unproven goalies as backups, not to mention a roster full of unproven players - so the excuse that Peca needs to prove himself first is a bit hypocritical.
