GDT / Winnipeg Jets @ Buffalo Sabres Sun. 3/3/24( MSG/ WGR Radio
... replied to HOUSE's topic in The Aud Club
Hoping that, after last night, some Sabres are mysteriously scratched from the roster for this game. -
By game 61 last season the Sabres had 68 points and were out of the second wildcard slot by 3 points. This year at game 61 they have 62 points and are out of the second wildcard slot by 10 points.

No way. The roster needs a shake-up. Samuelson has demonstrated he can't stay healthy and is therefore unreliable. I'm afraid Quinn is our new Connolly. We need our own Tkachuk. Thompson has been unreliable, Skinner is mono-dimensional and Tuch has disappeared. Power is a turnover machine with no physical presence whatsoever. None of Kulich, Rousek, Rosen, et al, will add anything to this team. Adams needs to get his head out of his keister and make some bold moves or we'll see yet another season just like the last two.
-
Goaltending let them down the first half as well: the three-headed monster comingled with the Levi experiment. Adams was too slow to make up his mind.
-
This right now was supposed to be the most challenging stretch heading toward the end. The record, so far, is good. It's possible. If they win 4 out of every 5. Or is it 5 out of every 6?
-
Adams better be on the phone working on some deals after this game. Power's goal just raised his value.
-
Either the Vegas roster is suffering from food poisoning or something or what we're doing is that effective.
-
This is the Sabres you've been waiting to see all season. Going toe-to-toe with a top end contender and tilting the ice in their favor.
-
Uhm, they dominated the defending Stanley Cup champs nearly all period. How more together can they get?
-
Amazing zone time.
-
Good thing Cozens scored that goal, too.
-
Cozens has been waiting to score a goal like that.
-
Way! Wow!

As predictable as bringing in players who do "want to be here"? I mean, we have 12 years of evidence of the latter type of player and I don't think that parameter is working out so well. Something about the definition of crazy is... What kind of player wants to be here right now? Likely not one motivated to win because we ain't been winners in a long time. So, how about trying something new, like a conscription model or viewing big-money sports contracts as they really are: volunteer slavery. You, NHL player, are my slave and you're going to play here and do the best you can unless you don't want the benefits of being an NHL slave.

Adams needs to make some significant moves. Keep Mitts but trade Tommy Dangles and Power while their value is still high. IMHO they're duds who, along with Skinner, are weighing down the team. -
What do you suppose 12:20 signifies?

Not a wit of this has any bearing on the actual meaning of the word or how it can be used. -

comeuppance Add to list Share /kəˈməpəns/ IPA guide Other forms: comeuppances Comeuppance describes a fate or punishment that's deserved, like when an arrogant trash-talking quarterback fumbles the ball on the last play and loses the game for his team. Comeuppance began as a term that meant "present oneself for judgment by a tribunal." That was in 1859. You can picture an accused person approaching a judge, or "coming up" to the front of a courtroom. Guilt, innocence — comeuppance can be either, and it can apply to things beyond the justice system. Nowadays you'll most likely hear this word describe something bad. If someone gets a deserved punishment, you'd say "He got his comeuppance." So UPL, after going through the trial of the Three-Headed Monster™ and the scoffing and scorn of the media and the fan base, has received his reward as being proclaimed the number 1. -

I recognize if people use it these days, it has a negative connotation. But I think the etymology makes a lot of sense in context if you ignore that aforementioned connotation. -

Someone needs to send Meatballs a nice, high-quality greeting card with this message in it. The crowd was into it because the team was into it. So simple. -

Wow. That was satisfying to watch. I almost can't believe I watched this Sabres team gut out a win like that. Have to admit I've been on the fence regarding UPL's comeuppance, and I was nervous in the shootout, but he stonewalled them. Best players were Greenway, Dahlin, Clifton and, wait for it, KREBS. -

He didn't need to over-commit to the attempted block to his right.
