I think you guys discussing trading up or down are wasting your time. I get that this is a message board and you like to discuss scenarios and yada yada yada, but, really, it is a waste of time. There has been nothing to indicate GMTM is interested in somebody in the top four enough to start making deals that would tear apart the developing new core. Obviously, if the package is ridiculous, he would take it, as he always says. There has been nothing to indicate GMTM believes this draft class lacks the quality enough where moving up (or down, I can never remember, I mean a higher numbered slot than 8 [like 9, 10, etc.]). I have seen where GMTM thinks the quality of the draft class is GOOD ENOUGH where he would move up if the circumstances were in our favour, but that would be a last minute deal on the floor. Obviously, if the package is ridiculous, he would take it, as he always says. I think the action will happen with our picks beyond the first round, again, barring a ridiculous deal, and that the roster in October will be fleshed out with FA moves and player trades (with picks to sweeten the deal).

With all due respect to our friends up north, I don't think a Canadian team would have Murray as a GM. He's too unique, too individual. There's a reason you haven't seen too many Cups in Canada lately, and there's a reason those teams didn't make the playoffs this year. Too much committee, too much hive mentality amongst the Canadian sport professionals.- 456 replies

Murray didn't go there because he knew it was a joke. He publicly called it "ridiculous", if memory serves. You think he didn't expect this? Murray is a step ahead and far more creative and courageous than most, if not all, of his equals in the league. Our Murray trumps TO's Centre-of-the-Universe mentality every day, all day.- 456 replies

OMG. People, chill. Frankly, the worst thing about this is that the F'N Centre will be filled with annoying TO fans during the draft. Even before tonight, GMTM was saying we might just have our top two lines, few people wanted Stamkos at the price, we were an emerging destination team, and Bylsma's system was making sense. Before tonight, the Oilers had something like 3 number one picks in 7 years, had acquired McJesus, and still sucks. They remain the anti-destination team. I think Murray has a handle on this team, TPegs has learned to step out of the way, and Bylsma may surprise us yet. We have Samson, who has exceeded expectations, Jack Jack, whose potential is jaw-dropping on many nights, and ROR who may very well be better than the Concept of ROR. Just chill.- 456 replies

Mmmm... a player, a third, and fifth, and, what the hell, throw in a seventh to move into the first round. Murray has seemed pretty into this year's first round. Your URL is messed. NHL LOTTERY SIMULATOR Buffalo in the top three (second pick) 1 out of 10 times. Second time one of ten again (third pick). We're likely to pick tenth, unless the 1-in-10 odds favors us.- 456 replies

I thought that line was effective in that capacity, but are we seeing shut-down lines in these playoffs? I mean, lines whose predominant role is to shut-down a top line. I'm seeing shut-down lines that are a threat offensively as well. Maybe Larsson thinks he has more offense to give and is holding out for a bigger contract, but I'm scratching my head trying recall if I thought Foligno, Larsson and Gionta were an offensive threat. I think the Larsson we have seen really isn't on the roster of a legit playoff team. And I like Larsson, but, well...

It took me some games to get used to the playoff officiating paradigm, but I see what they're doing and I don't disagree. The games have been fun to watch as a result, mostly.

Wow. I could not move for that third period. At all. Amazing hockey. The Blues versus the Stars will be a great series. What a night when both teams you're rooting for win big.
-
Has the NYI series been any good? Is tonight's game worth watching?
-
Son bi7ch. The Blues sat back in the second, killed the game for them.
-
Icing?
-
So that confirms what I'm seeing. Several non calls in favor of Chicago. Also, could the NBC crew be more happy the Hawks scored?
-
That was a good period of hockey.
-
Not after three, but I am making the prediction.
-
Crawford is going to get pulled.
-
The Blues need to get their heavy game back or they're going to lose this. Their D also needs to settle down.
-
CAN ELLIOTT HOLD OFF THE DYNASTY? Details at 11pm. The TB game looks like a regular season game in comparison.
-
The next game will indicate where this series goes. St. Louis is playing the same game as last year, but they look a lot more disciplined.
-
The Blues fans were like Roman gladiatorial spectators. That was a good game; Chicago's defense is deceptively effective. The may allow for too much zone time, but not a lot of shots are taken in the slot. Whereas, the Blues' offense is quite sneaky and had some really quality chances in close. I will be curious to see which team suffers under the so-called "Game of Attrition" tactic from the Blues. They tried that last year and it didn't work out for them. Elliott better stay on his game this series.

When you're on a roll, you're on a roll. We can just move the in-season predictions to a new prediction thread whenever that arrives.

Let's see. How about not using the internet. And don't use battery-driven devices. No CFL lightbulbs. Don't drive. Don't fart. Don't breathe. That should all do it. -
Didn't GMTM mention something to that effect? Both times I listened to the presser, I've been interrupted, but I thought I heard something to the effect that Cody has been at the rink everyday, helping out and can see a role for him like that..?
